Cheaper to buy a domain elese where and use the free Lets Encrypt.

    • Lets Encrypt is great and we use it for some of our clients, but it does not provide a solution for every requirement.

      • And what's that? Rip off EV certs?

Let's Encrypt is not only free, it also uses a much more secure method to validate domain ownership. It is objectively better than paid certificates.

    • You're assuming those needing an SSL are competent at setting up and maintaining Let's Encrypt.

      • Let's Encrypt is made to be easy to set up, it basically installs itself. I'm not sure how using this site or any other offering certificates is any easier.

        • Let's Encrypt is made to be easy to set up

That doesn't mean it's automatically simple for every person in all use cases.

  • Cheapest plan appears to be $38.05/yr.

I'm constantly amazed by the depth of knowledge from fellow Ozbies.
Well done guys/gals and keep the sellers honest.

  • SSL is free through cPanel by Comodo.

  • A much better option is actually using AWS which is a registrar and provides certificates as well, plus their entire eco system.
You get a much better offer in the free tier as well
Smaller vendors like this are really a waste of your time and you need to manage your certificate, which AWS provides for you including renewal as well.

I recommend looking at the cloud providers over these small groups.
