Great price but delivery is a killer… C&C?

    • +8

      Go to a store?

    • +1

I would assume the option for delivery is an error, because its a price for gas only.

    • +2

Estimated delivery is $8.99 for a total of $22.29. If this means you get the entire bottle without having to do a swap then this is quite good as the Sodastream bottle on it's own is ~$35 from memory.

      • if i order 6 gases ……. what will happen ?

        • +3

Enough for you to fart away to the moon.

          And back.

        • +13

          You might receive 6 gases.

      • Looks like on the website, they are selling the Stand alone gas botles separately for a discounted price of $24.50 and so I assume that you technically need to swap your gas cylinder in for that $13 deal.

That being said, I think you can try to order it online and pay the $8.99 delivery and let us know if they complain that it was not a canister swap type deal.

I forgot that I already have a spare Sodastream one so I not need a third canister at my home.

if you use your soda stream a lot then this large gas bottle is worth considering

currently $93.29 delivered for 2.6kg CO2 Gas Cylinder Filled with Gas

    equivalent to 6.5 refills.

At $13 a refill, thats $84.50 for the gas alone. Where this really saves money is on the second refill. To refill a 2.6KG tank, most places charge $25-$30.

you will need to be the bottle adapter for $15 as well.

please note - all the above info comes from the original gas bottle deal by outlander - kudos

    • How do you get it delivered filled with gas?

The listing you linked says "Our 2.6Kg gas bottles come ready to fill. "

      • +2

        It comes full.

I've been using mine fairly solidly since July and it's been great. The quick release valve was a bit dodgy but Kegland were great to deal with and sent me fixed connectors to replace it with.

        Highly recommended

        • +1

Ok Thanks. The URL does say "co2-gas-cylinders-2-6kg-full.html"

But the description on the page says "ready to fill" so I wasn't sure.

I wonder if it can be used to refill a Sodastream gas bottle or if it can only be used piped up to a Sodastream/Sodaking machine?

          • +2

            @seb:

I wonder if it can be used to refill a Sodastream gas bottle or if it can only be used piped up to a Sodastream/Sodaking machine?

Yes, it can do both. You'll need this adapter to refill the standard Sodastream-compatiable bottle.

            • +1

@magic8ballgag: I have one of these and adaptors that can
              - pipe straight to sodastream (I dont really use it as can fill the existing sodastream bottle)
              - Connector to refill Sodastram bottle.
              - Connector to Carbonate your own drink contained in a soda bottle eg. A coke bottle.
              They are Handy.
Hardest part is finding a place in Sydney (close to CBD) to refill the 2.6kg bottle (rather than swap out)

              • @Borg: Yeah I'm loving mine. Reasonably convenient for me, there is a place at brookvale that refills, only a few mins away from my work

                • @wozz: @wozz Whereabouts in Brookvale?

            • @magic8ballgag: Thanks for sharing this, I knew about this but all tubes that went from the large bottle directly to th soda stream were around $100, this is far more attractive.

              • +1

@RandomFox: If you do head down this path.
Tip: Stick your soda stream bottle in the freezer for a couple of hours before filling. You will get more CO2 into it. I never have a problem in getting it full. If empty, weight it and then weigh it after the fill. This way you know how much CO2 went in.
Its cold so use a towel to hold it :-)

Great tip, thanks! I just had a look at their website and they have the 6kg bottle on sale for $84.95 plus shipping ($23.67 to Brisbane). I just bought one. That'll keep an average punter like me going for some years, I'd say. Link here.

      • Damn I was a sucker for paying full price in January T_T

    • There are more CO2 molecules in that cylinder than there are grains of sand on Earth

    • +1

      you've got my attention.

how and where do you get the 2.6kg tank filled?

I have a sodaking machine - so if you're saying it's 6.5 refills - then that means my tank must be aroun 400g (sounds about right, i'll check tonight)

I currently pay $18.95 for every refill

      • Typically beer brewing stores. The big guys like BOC gases really start with 6 kg, and industrial places don't typically do hospital/food grade CO2.

I gave up on the 2.6 kg bottle in the end - I go through 4 litres a day and like it much fizzier than Sodastream can do (50 psi vs their 30 psi). First fill lasted me 4 months. Went to a 6 kg bottle which I'll get about 10 months out of. If you drink much less than I do, go for the 2.6 kg though, as the 6 kg bottle is huge.

If anyone from Sydney wants to buy a 2.6 kg bottle - perfect condition, bought new, emptied once, never refilled, you can have it for $40. Was going to keep it around for the period when I empty the 6 kg and haven't swapped it over, but I can just have a few bottles from the supermarket ready.

        • Or you could top up you 2.6 kg bottle from your 6kg one. This way you have a decent size bottle on hand when 6kg runs out :-)

          • @Borg: Not a bad idea - I do recall that there was a more expensive 6 kg bottle with an eductor tube to allow liquid withdrawal of CO2 - not sure if I would need that. Knowing me though, I'd put the 2.6 kg away somewhere, spend a day looking for it and give up.

    • I did this 6 months ago - I use a lot of soda water, I bought the bottle and a hose that connects straight to my machine. $90 for hose, $90 for 2.6kg cylinder and fill

  • +2

Does anyone know if Spotlight accept the empty Sodastream branded CO2 bottles and swap with the filled Sodaking bottles?

    • +3

If I wasn't so lazy I'd ring them and ask myself. Although my Sodastream bottle is still more than half full.

    • +4

Someone posted in another ObG post that they just stripped off the plastic wrapping and got it done as the staff had no clues.

this supports israel, not cool, BDS !

    • what?

    • +1

So smart yet can’t comprehend the difference between

      SodaStream (Israel)
      Soda King (South Africa)

  • This is just a refill isn't it……..not a bottle with gas as I need a 2nd bottle?

    • +1

A new bottle is $24.50, still a great deal.

      • Wonder what one gets if one orders and gets this deal shipped. $22.29 Incl shipping :-)

  • -4

    Go Israel!

    • ??

    • Wrong company ya tool.

  • What's a 'cylinder excahnge point'?

  • I dont have a soda stream system, but this price is a bargain compares to woolies. Selling air is kind of genius, IMHO.

    • +2

I just connected a bike pump to the sodastream, works a treat.

      • But this is a pure CO2 though XD.

      • Why bother with a sodastream, just pump gas straight into your water…

    • Selling air is kind of genius, IMHO.

Much like cafes all around the world making millions on a simple product that people are too lazy to make themselves at home?

  • Very healthy buy now at a low price!

  • +3

    I need the NO2 ones
