  • In b4 curry jokes 😎

  • I doubt my local coles in reservoir will sell these, which is surprising given the number of Indians in the area. I have eaten this range in the past and I quite enjoyed them, however these days I meal prep, including making a dal of some kind.

    • Any good dhal recipes to share?

  • I can only recommend dal fry and dal makhani.
just put them in microwave with some butter on top for 2 mins and you are good to go.

Suggestion and request from fellow Indian, Plz do urself a favor and don't eat these.
Taste is drastically different from freshly prepared curries

no one is going to argue with you on that point.

      these are just for convenience.

      • +1

Exactly ready to eat meals are for convenience, but there are better tasting brands but not at this price

    • +2

Well maybe I can contact you for my freshly prepared curry needs?

      • +3

        Lol sure, come over

    • Taste is drastically different from freshly prepared curries

You don't say. I don't think anyone was expecting a microwavable meal to be anything special.

      • Yeah, but MTR brand in particular is not the reputable brand in terms of taaste anyway

any ready to eat curries that you can buy in stores that you know of, that taste similar to freshly prepared curries?
as others have pointed out, not all of us are fortunate enough to be well versed in combining exotic spices and coming up with decent end results from scratch
nor can we go to the local takeaway shop when we have a craving

  • MTR - daal Makhani is pretty good. For some reason the one I get from the local Indian store tastes different (better) than the coles one. There is no difference in manufacturing etc that I could find on the 2 products itself. This is good at $1.50!

    • MTR is a South Indian (read as spicy) brand and Dal Makhni is a North Indian dish which is less spicy and uses slightly different spices

    Curry in a hurry

    • How original.

  • I've tried a couple and find them too salty, might bulk them up with other veggies next time to see if it helps. Otherwise makes a cheap convenient meal.

    • +1

They're salty for a reason… so they keep for longer.

    • Too salty and too oily! You get s free heart attack with these.

        are you kidding me
we thrive on Connoisseur, Maggi Noodles, KFC, Maccas deals etc
surely a little MTR wont hurt

  • Slightly unrelated but tuna bags are half price at ww. There's a chipotle flavour one that looks alright

It's probably the fish that John West rejected.

    Bhindi Masala is great!

  • MTR

Momentarily thought this might be a Hong Kong deal…

    • Thank you for this my new website addiction

  • I survived on these exclusively for a fortnight in Mainland China, as the local food wasnt edible.
