    Nothing to see here.
$23.95, Aussie Stock with free shipping here
$17.41 (inc GST) from China here
You might be able to do even better, these are just the first search results I saw that are a lot cheaper than this deal.

I would be pretty suspicious of those ones from China and the ebay one which could be a drop ship item. Seem very cheap and apparently there is a very large quantity of counterfit 3M products.

I have been looking for another one of these masks for a little while and all the local hardware and welding stores around me havnt been cheaper than $45-50.

      • +3

It is possible, perhaps even likely, that some eBay ones are counterfeit. It perhaps less likely, but still possible that ones you buy locally are counterfeit.

What I would worry about more is: are they doing the job. And the ones I got from China are doing very well, just based on the fact that I can't smell a thing while I wear them properly.

I guess it depends on what you use them for, if you need protection from gases that don't have a distinct smell, by all means, pay for it. If, like me, you want protection from things that are easy to smell, the cheap ones I got are fine.

I use my 7502 with 6001 (with a P95 cotton pre-filter) for tasks like spray painting and welding galvanised steel. I use the 7502 with 2097 for tasks like lawn mowing and welding mild steel.

For most of those tasks other people don't even bother wearing masks, but thanks to the cheap China imports I can't justify not to. If I had to pay $30 for a set of locally sourced 6001s or $20 for a pair of 2128s (instead of the $3 2097s) the story would be different…

  • Do I need this for spray cans?

    • Hi nfr,
You definitely can use them if you are spraying with paint spray cans. The cartridges that it comes with were made for paint vapor and particles.
We also sell these masks to graffiti artists and for use for regular paint sprayers.

But sometimes you can access the same product in a more competitive market like China and it's a lot cheaper. I once carried a caroma toilet cistern back from Papua New Guinea as the export price for Caroma is half that of the stuff being sold in Australia. So the ebay one could just be a Grey import.

Lol, I think you're in the running to win Ozbargainer of the day.

  • Does this do ASBESTOS?

    • +1

I wouldn't use it for that purpose.

The 6001 is an activated carbon filter, that's to take organic components out of the air stream. Wouldn't do anything to asbestos.

The 5N11 is a N95 pre-filter, meaning it catches 95% of particles. Way too low for asbestos.

You could combine a 7500 rubber mask with a N100 or P100 filter, that would probably do. The 100 means it catches close to 100% of particles (99.9%+).

Have a look at the 3M website, they have a lot of information which filters are good for which job.

      • Is 95% good enough for things like teargas?

        Asking for a friend.

    • Just get a P1 or P2 disposable and throw it away with the waste generated

I wouln't compromise by using a disposable, they usually don't fit anywhere near as well as a rubber half-face mask.

Use what the professionals use which is the Sundstrom brand. Higher quality, easier to breathe through, filters last longer and all ASNZS certified. Yes costs more but when safety is at hand then why compromise? If wanting to protect against asbestos then Sundstrom have an asbestos kit which is pretty much the industry standard. Worth every cent. Sold by specialist safety shops like onsite safety Australia. Allen's industrial products, etc etc

    • That's very interesting. We actually have a distributor that can supply us with Sundstrom products. If there's enough interest like you, then maybe we'll take it on and sell in our website soon.

      • Nice and thanks but this stuff is pretty exclusive unless you are in the trade.
