Can money be withdrawn or must they be spent?

    • Hi, yes money can be withdrawn from ATMs - $0.75 fee.

  • +3

there is a transaction fee of $0.75 if you want to get cash through ATM, otherwise you can only spend the money.

    • Thanks, beat me to it!

  • Any overseas transaction fees?

  • How to Load the money in the card?

    • +1

Hi Javin, you can load the card through any existing Australian bank account through internet banking. You also receive a Vasco Pay BSB and Account Number in which your employer, friend, Centrelink etc. can use to transfer you money.

  • How long does the card last?

    • Hi demiurge, valid for 2 years. You can renew for free when the card expires - just like any bank cards.

  • You can use credit card to load? will that get you charged as cash advance ?

    • Yes you can pre-load the Vasco Pay card with a credit card when you sign up. Yes, that will count towards the $100 deposit.

      • Credit card company should not charge cash advance for loading this Vasco prepaid card.

        • You use credit card to load, and the card allows you to withdraw cash at flat $0.75 fee.

        • Some will because it is a transaction to a financial company.

      • +3

Sorry I was specifically asking will you be charged cash advance interest rate by the credit card?

        • If you withdraw cash from a credit card you would be charged a cash advance

      • Is there a difference between pre-loading the Vasco Pay card with a credit card when you sign up, and a regular loading of value to the Vasco Pay card using a credit card?

Your answer about pre-loading with credit card appeared contrary to your PDS unless the distinction is made between pre-loading at sign up and regular loading.

You cannot load value directly to your Card using a credit card.

        • Hi Alvian, the pre-load option is only available when you sign up. Once you have an active card, you should only be loading money via internet banking or setting up a direct deposit and not via credit card.

Are you covered by Australian Banking Guarantee ie Does this company have a banking licence if company became insolvent?

  • Seems a bit sus when they ask you at the end of the process to save time and load money onto card now, before the card even (ever) turns up?

    • Also if look at financial statements they are currently losing money, so interested to see if they have a banking licence.

    • Hi walkerxp, pre-loading your card is optional. You can most certainly wait for the card to arrive, activate & then load the money. As long as you use the Referral Code, we'll be able to track whether you meet the min, deposit requirements.

    • Why?

If your deposit takes a few days to be processed then when you get the card it will be ready to use.

Are you able to answer my question, as I would like to know the answer?
Are you covered by Australian Banking Guarantee ie Does this company have a banking licence if company became insolvent?

    • Hi Kizashi, sorry for the late response. Yes, our cards are issued by Heritage Bank, Australia's largest mutual banks. Your Vasco Pay account funds will be covered by Heritage Bank.

      • Thanks for replying. Just noticed it says Vasco Pay is not a bank but we partner with Heritage Bank – Australia’s largest mutual bank. Can you please explain how that works, as not clear to me?

        • I'm not sure what information you are after specifically. If you'd like, send us an email with your questions at [email protected] and one of the team members will be able to answer them for you.

          • @happytraveller90: Just wondering what this partnership means. My concern is the safety of any money i deposit. As you are not a bank and something were to happen ie go in administration. Sorry to be a doomsdayer but alot of businesses are going under at moment and need to know before deposit any money.

            • @kizashi: Vasco Pay handles the marketing and distribution of the cards. The banking and product side is completely with Heritage Bank, and so the concerns you have will need to be directed to Heritage Bank.

              • -2

@happytraveller90: I have just rang and spoke to Heritage Bank. What you are saying is incorrect!!! They only produce the pre-paid card and and allow you to use their bsb number. Nothing more. Heritage do not even have the ability to access any account information from you.
Ozbargainers beware!!! You do not have a banking licence and as such if something goes wrong (which may or may not happen) people will lose their money.

                • -1

@kizashi: Why don't you read this as you don't seem to know how the guarantee works
                  https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/managing-your-money/banking

Vasco is not an ADI and does not hold your money.

Heritage Bank who holds your money is an ADI.
You need to talk to Heritage Bank and ask if the Vasco product is held in an ADI approved account.

                  • -1

@spaceflight: I did. Please read my comments before making assumptions. Have you spoke to heritage bank? Do you know what you are talking about, cause on face value it apparently not.

                    • @kizashi: I did.
You spoke to Heritage Banks customer service for their products. They will be trained to talk about Heritage Bank products, not 3rd party products.

It's like calling Lexus to ask about Toyota models.

                      Vasco is not an ADI.

                    • @kizashi: Because your comment contained a personal attack my reply was deleted.

Here is the information you wanted from the PDS which you can find here https://vascopay.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Product-Disc…

Although Heritage is an authorised deposit-taking institution carrying on banking business in Australia, the acquisition of, or value loaded to, the Product does not represent a deposit with, or investment in, Heritage

  • If we load the $100 immediately at the time of application, does the $10 also get loaded immediately?

    • Hi Wizzy, we will process your order immediately & once you receive the card and activate it, you will find the bonus $10 in your account.

    • +1

Please be aware. The Product Disclosure Statement, on page 10, states the following:
"Standard Card Purchase Price $10.00, Monthly Membership Fee $3.00".
Thus, you are not actually making $10 when signing up, but rather losing $3.

      • +1

Thanks. Don't worry, I did not purchase.

  • -1

Another question also. If you do not charge fees, how are you able to offer this product?

  • OZBARGAINERS BEWARE!!!!!
Please read my comments above about ringing Heritage Bank before you take up this offer!!!!

    • I was wondering.. when you called Heritage, did you call their head office or customer service? This company can’t just claim Heritage is the issuer without actually having their back-up? I was reading the PDS-
      https://vascopay.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Product-Disc…

Crazy if they actually lied on this?

      • Answered question below. Sorry, forgot to add into reply box

    • Why don't you read this as you don't seem to know how the guarantee works
      https://www.moneysmart.gov.au/managing-your-money/banking

Vasco is not an ADI and does not hold your money.

Heritage Bank who holds your money is an ADI.
You need to talk to Heritage Bank and ask if the Vasco product is held in an ADI approved account.

  • I don't think I would be keeping a large amount long term on this. Might just stick with my load n go for the dodgy sites.

  • 1800 056 927.
I spoke to a guy who never heard about Vasco Pay. I explained to him what it was about and their website and were part of Novatti Group. He went away and found out for himself. Then told me this. I also read to him the answer which happytraveller90 had wrote. I have only written what he said. Yes, crazy to lie! But do not want others to risk their money. But, also up to you to decide. Suggest if don't trust me, ring Heritage first. But, I will not be risking my money for $10.

I do not know why people are down voting me with my above comments, as I am only trying to look after best interests of Ozbargainers. But it is up to you to decide, if prepared to take risk!

    After reading PDS ( https://vascopay.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Vasco-Pay-Pr… ),
I notice a monthly membership fee ($3) in Clause 7, which is contrary to OP's description.

  • +2

Please be aware. The Product Disclosure Statement, on page 10, states the following:
"Standard Card Purchase Price $10.00, Monthly Membership Fee $3.00".

Thus, you are not actually making $10 when signing up, but rather losing $3.

  • Am I understabding this right?

Load $100, get $110, withdraw from ATM $109.25?

    • +1

      withdraw from ATM $109.25. LOL

      • $96.25

        You will lose money.

    • The Product Disclosure Statement, on page 10, states the following:
"Standard Card Purchase Price $10.00, Monthly Membership Fee $3.00".
Thus, you are not actually making $10 when signing up, but rather losing $3.

      • +2

Clarifying that there is $0 monthly fees. We used to have it, but not anymore.

  • +3

I'll be sending the card back as soon as I receive it - OP stated misleading terms about no fees is a disgrace.

The Product Disclosure Statement, on page 10, states the following:
"Standard Card Purchase Price $10.00, Monthly Membership Fee $3.00

Is OZ bargain becoming CON Bargain?

    • Oz bargain is not becoming CON Bargain. Just some businesses are giving misleading information when they post their offers. Best not to jump in and read other comments before taking up offers especially financial businesses.

  • op can you confirm wether or not there is a $10 card issue fee and a $3 monthly fee? also if pre-load the Vasco Pay card with a credit card later on after getting card will i qualify for the $10 promo ? how will the top be processed if via credit card? hope it wouldnt be treated as a cash advance and just a purchase.? can i use this vasco pay card to pay the ato bills thus saving having to pay higher credit card fees.

    • Read above. All these have been answered.

    • Clarifying that there is $0 monthly fees and $0 card issue fee. We used to have a monthly fee, but not anymore. Yes, if you preload the card it will count towards the promotion, or you can wait until your card arrives in the mail. Yes, you can use Vasco Pay card to make online or phone payments, e.g. ATO bills.

      • ATO bills. Scammers will be happy to know that. Much more convenient than buying 50 $100 iTunes cards.

  • on pds is says "You cannot load value directly to your Card using a credit card." has anyone done so yet and more importantly was it processed as a purchase and not a cash advance and no fees incurred?

    • was it processed as a purchase and not a cash advance and no fees incurred?

That will depend on your bank

  • +1

    Where is the rep?

  • +1

their website also says "No one likes fees, and that’s why we have no joining fee, no monthly fees, and no reload fees!"

the fees at the bottom of https://vascopay.com/faqs/ also don't include the card purchase price or monthly membership fee.

the rep/OP needs to come back and explain what is going on

    my guess:
it looks like the PDS is old and the card purchase and monthly fees have now been removed.
if you look at an old version of vascopay.com using waybackmachine, you can see that their webside used to say
"Get started from just $10, with a low monthly membership fee of $3 per month."

    • +2

They made a sloppy mistake with their website, product disclosure statement URL points to an outdated version of the document.

(Inspecting the URL reveals it's on wp-content/uploads/2018 subdirectory).

However searching on Google reveals that they have a newer copy of the document which is dated 01 January.

      https://vascopay.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Product-Disc…

I don't even know if this is the most 'up to date' copy so please, contact their customer service and ask for the most recent version of the document before you sign anything.

      • Thank you Scrimshaw, yes that is our most up to date PDS. Clarifying that there is $0 monthly fees. We used to have it, but not anymore.

        • You need to upload the correct PDS to your website.

  • Are people taking up this offer now it is known there are no card and monthly fees?

  • Beware of this gotcha when you are nearing the card expiry date. You could lose up to $1000. From the PDS,

If you have had a credit or debit transaction in the 60 days prior to expiry you will be offered a new Card. The remaining balance at that time will be transferred to a new Card. On the expiry of the Card, any balance not transferred to a new Card will be forfeited.

At expiry of the Card, if there have been no transactions in the past 60 days, we will charge a fee equal to the Available Balance, reducing its Available Balance to zero (see clause 8). We will not give you any notice before this happens

And this gotcha if your transaction exceeds your balance. Contrary to the FAQ's claim about transparency (we are totally transparent when it comes to fees, so see below a list of our fees and charges), this fee is not disclosed in the FAQ or in the PDS. It can be any amount and you agreed to pay it by accepting and using Vasco Pay.

If you make or attempt to make any transactions that exceed the Available Balance for the Card, then you will be liable for any Negative Balance plus a fee charged by us, along with any costs or interest we incur in recovering or attempting to recover from you the amount you owe us.

    And these fees:

Lost or Stolen Card replacement $10.00
    Chargebacks $10.00
Failed Funds Load: If funds are loaded incorrectly this fee applies to process the reversal or attempted recovery of funds. $5.50

  • +1

What is the significance of the strikeout in section 2 of T&C in the PDF version of the PDS?

The Available Balance is available for transactions using the Card in accordance with these Terms and Conditions until the expiry, revocation or cancellation of the Card, but does not belong to you.

Do the struck out words form part of the PDS? Is that phrase superseded or active? Is it an editing error or a formatting error? Are we or are we not agreeing to the Available Balance not belonging to us?

This sloppiness is unacceptable in a PDS.

  • just activated the card with $100 preloaded. when will the $10 be credited?

    • When I asked the rep this question above, they said the $10 would already be on the card when you receive it if you had preloaded the $100. Hopefully the rep will be back to answer you soon.

  • has anyone gotten their $10 yet? do you need to receive and activate card by mar 31st or just apply for it by then?

    • Not yet

      • got mine today. transferred the $100 onto the card when i received it 2 days ago.

  • i got mine about 1 or 2 days after activating it and emailing them. i think they do it in batches. its a great deal
