Finally another option from Adelaide. Not sure about quality of airline though but hopefully keeps Jetstar pricing in check.

I know others may have had a better experience but, I wouldn’t fly with them if my life depended on it. They are the most incompetent airline I’ve ever dealt with. It took over 3 months of phone calls, emails and threats to get a refund. Even then, they never refunded the proper amount. You might think Other budget carriers are crappy, but trust me, this airline takes crappy to another level.

So you never actually flew with them?

        I fully second this.
        WARNING
We booked tickets last week using the pay within 48 hour option and paying $5.20 fee. We actually had to book this twice and paid two lots of fees as the first booking confirmation was never received. Both bookings were cancelled without notice before the 48 hour period. Calling and writing to customer service was a massive waste of time . In fact we received bad attitude from the “service desk” telling us we got the times wrong , then told off for not paying on the spot and using their deferred option. There is no escalation process and we were asked to write to Helpdesk who took more than 24 hours to reply and fobbed us off with one line without even reading the body of our email. Total disregard for customers. They also refused to acknowledge that we had paid a booking fee, refused to rebook under the same fare (even though there were still same class of tickets available), and refused a refund.
HOWEVER the WORST part of our experience came a few days ago when our mobile number was stolen (ported) and our bank account hacked into. When reviewing all sites visited, theirs was the only one we had disclosed personal information to including phone number name etc. I would never fly with them in principal due to the way they treat their customers.

  • Taxes and charges seem to be additional

  • Anyone flow business class with them? Not expecting Singapore airlines quality but It seems quite a bit cheaper anyway.

    • Part of Lionair group.

    • I have, was really nice

    • Yes. An enjoyable experience.

How do you know this? Link goes to a page about KLIA, not ADL.

  • Yikes. I don't want to have anything to do with LionAir

    • Why? Because a brand new Boeing crashed. Or previous experience?

      • The Lionair crash appears to be due to a malfunction of a sensor and it takes a highly complicated procedure to disengage the autopilot which Boeing changed and didn't tell any except to mention it in the new manual. Lionair has had some serious issues about getting planes up in the air at any cost though. That Ethiopian crash may be due to the same air sensor malfunction but the investigation is still taking place. The fact that Boeing Max's are being grounded world world suggests that the issues are with the planes not maintenance.

You’re correct but consider this, Eastern cultures are educated to follow process and training and as you say unfortunately the issue was not properly trained for. Western cultures focus more on problem solving. The same issue happened at least twice in America and the planes didn’t crash.

          • @[Deactivated]: The pilots on the Lionair flight appeared not to be aware of the complex procedure to override the autopilot in the first place and this article suggest that the procedure wasn't documented in the first place.

            https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/11/16/world/asia/li…

The fundamental problem seems to the malfunctioning sensor which causes the plane to crash at vertically at 800 kph into the ground. How is someone suppose to know how to engage in a complex procedure if they don't know it in the first place?

      • I migrated from Indonesia and I know how corrupt a lot of things are and Lion Air unfortunately is not an exception. And I also hear more stories from family and friends of extremely dodgy practices they do on the ground that just didn't made the main stream news (such as lying to passengers to get off plane promising to board a non-existent replacement flight). Also recent reports of how untrained their pilots are sound about right with companies that runs on corruption. They probably are a bit more careful with their international reputation, but I still wouldn't want anything to do with that company.

Their crew also got half inched for smuggling in drugs from malaysia.

Lion Air used to be banned from flying in Europe. Not anymore, but take what you want from that …

Malindo to launch SYD flights in June apparently. Hopefully this will bring prices down further plus the option to 10% price beat with JQ.

Flown em once, never again. Dodgy af.

    Steer clear all

  • Can I get Jetstar to price match if it is a direct flight from Bali to Adelaide?

    • Yep. As long as flights are on the same day

    • +1

      Try it and report back

      • Can confirm it works

    • Nice one. Didn't realise such option exists in airways

      • Its actually price beat, not price match. They beat the price of other flights by 10% which is really good!

Have a read on one well known Pilot Forum Website.

    These guys get a flogging.

  • and Jetstar increasing volume as well from adelaide

  • clicked the link couldnt find the route. how do u guys see the fare?

    • We tried to book flights from Adelaide to Bali yesterday via https://www.malindoair.com/au/ but each time we hit submit we received an error message that stated they were unable to process our booking and to call their Customer Care Center. After several attempts of having to input our info AGAIN and still receiving an error message we called their CCC in Sydney (hmmm) and waited for nearly an hour to speak to someone. We gave up trying to contact them and booked our flights through an online travel agent. Not a positive experience so far! Surely the Australian airline regulators will have them under tough scrutiny?

      • same, fail for me.
took my credit card details but receiving the FAIL errors.
