  • Can you please confirm your deal expiry date? The PDF said 30 April 5pm.

Physical flyer required or phone is fine?

    • Sorry my bad.

Big questions - What things I do not need but want ; )

  • I believe it's store only with flyer barcode, but you never know. Discount is also UP TO 20% off with different products having different discounts as per the T&C's on the flyer. Discount percentages visible in store only I think because you can't seperate store prices online.

    • Correct. This is only for newly open Mentone store (biggest Officeworks store). You will get invalid voucher error if you use it in other stores.

so its 20% off except when the store says, oh its below our cost price???

god, I hate discounts like this

    • Depends if it's actual invoice cost or if they load it up with freight and "head office costs"

      • -2

well then it shouldnt be called a 20% off sale

it should be called, Grand opening huge sale, up to 20% off marked items

I doubt ozb would be happy if you got there and only 1 item was 20% off, while the rest were 5% off because "it was below cost price"

    • +2

Nowhere does it say 20% OFF.

It says up to 20% off.

  • +1

Be mad if you could get a price match and beat by 5%. Then whip out the voucher at checkout :)

    • Only issue is the discount is vague because it’s up to 20% off but not below Officeworks cost price.

    • can confirm does not work otherwise i'd be doing it constantly

  • Guessing doesnt include photos…

    • Print and Copy would include photos so no

  • i wonder if ipad or apple products are discounted?

    • +2

Even if they were, 20% would be below OW's cost price.

Source: I once bought a $780 iPad from JB HiFi. Asked for a discount and he did it for cost. On their sticker price, they only make $23.
I asked why they even bother and he said Apple products create foot traffic to the store.

      • +4

I’m sure he was telling 100% the truth.

      • The "cost price" available to the sales person is not the actual cost price on most items.
The company deliberately hide the true cost from them so that they cannot sell without making a profit on most stock.
I'm told, it also saves them from paying some of the commission to their staff!

    • Don't bother, they aren't. Unless you want to call them first. But even that, I received incorrect info and end up wasting my time going there without any discount on non Apple/tech products..

the 6th gen ipad's and low end iphones are already close to cost so little to no discount while the ipad pro's and higher end iphone's you can expect around $100

  • +1

I wonder what the cost price on iPad Pro is! After missing out on the Myer deal, I would love to get one if I can!

    • The age said Myers is getting out of Apple, there might be deals to be had.

    • +1

cost is just above $1100 for 11 64gb so i'd assume it'll be close to that

  • +1

Surely too good to be true for up to 20% off Apple products. Might take a trip down today to have a closer look.

    • Could you let us know how the iPads go!

    • +1

The up to 20% off is the same as their staff discount, if the new iphones are indicative of the rest of the range, it usually much less than 20% off.

You generally get much better deals using their price beat policy.

This site was a Bunnings. It's huge. Wear comfy shoes.

My half price adidas just arrived :).

  • Based on my experience when I had a friend with a 20% off card with the same conditions, you will get the full 20% on things like stationary, furnititure and general tech supplies (cables, peripherals) but not on tech products such as laptops, monitors, phones etc.

If you are really nice, the staff member might tell you what cost price is before you go to the checkout, they can look it up on their handheld scanners :)

    • This. The margins on most products at OW is pretty big. High priced tech is minimal though, because the money is in the accessories. So keyboards, mice and headsets for example will get a decent discount.

  • Mentone ..bit far

Just went there. Voucher is not working. Call up the to make sure they have then asked them about the 20% discount and was told other than Apple products/gift card etc, rest would be all good. Arrived and find out price wasn't reduced after scanning the voucher. I wouldn't go if I knew the discount won't apply. Wasted my time

Dam. Is there a different time zone in Mentone?? Really wish it was Melton instead as that's wayyy closer for me to check.LOL

    • Damn.. what did you try to buy?

      • -1

Clearance item, discount is only less than $10 but I am not happy when I mentioned whether I can use the discount on the items and instead of finding out for me, they just say wouldn't be a problem. The problem is this shop is not the closest to me.

  • So I called up and was told it's only if you're a family or friend of someone who works there. Didn't get more information, but wonder if it requires someone to pair it with their staff discount to activate it.

Went there, showed the PDF on phone.. bought a furniture and got 20% off.. in and out in 10 min.. :) no fuss.. got a price match done for another product as well (although a price match doesn't get further 20% off - the lady even tried :P )

    • Cool! Might give it a try tomorrow then.

  • Anyone got any ideas? Surely there's some best price ever deals to be had here?

    • not really. Their margins are pretty thin so the only place you'll get the full 20% is on furniture and home brand items.

Voucher worked for me. Google Mesh Wi Fi 3 pack reduced from $450 to $360.

  • Yep, had no problems at all when I did it this afternoon. Got the Seagate 3TB Portable HDD for $91.92 in the end (from $99).

  • Hi anyone been in or know the price of the range OF Apple Tvs, don't need 4k as of yet any good deals?

  • Just used the voucher on a Galaxy S10 Plus. approx 11% off. Thanks OP

Dropped in this evening and was surprised it stayed open until midnight. Most of the staff disappeared around 10pm though, only to leave a girl on the front counter and 2 security guards in the store. It was a little bit weird and sad to see that staff leaving had to open their bags up to security upon exiting to prove they were not stealing. There were apparently a number of staff still working and a corresponding number of cars outside, however the cashier was unable to summon anyone to help for about 15 minutes, at which point we both decided that it was probably for the best to give up. I wanted to find out what discount I could get on some laptops, however I had nothing to show the cashier because the only laptops sitting out were the display models in another section that were tied down. It took her a while to work this out, as she was not familiar with store protocol. I managed to find the models in the store catalogue and she was able to look them up and then scan the discount code. I was a bit surprised that both models I enquired about attracted a 0% reduction! Admittedly these were at the low end due to being a present for a friend, but I found the whole exercise a bit misleading and potentially deceptive. I took the long way home to go there and spend an hour, spoke to my friend on the phone and got their hopes up, before eventually driving the 50km or so to get home empty handed. I would have at least felt a little placated if they could have knocked a couple of percentage points off. I would advise not to go there with any expectations and consider your options. Lets face it, a 5% price beat from your local store is probably going to be a better deal for most stuff. It was still interesting to see the store but I don't know that it was substantially larger or had many more product lines than other stores like Altona for example. Admittedly I didn't spend any time looking at stationery, and yes there were $14,000 commercial printers and a bit more corporate furniture available than normal, as expected. Hope this helps for anyone considering whether they want to blow off 2-3 hours to check it out for themselves. If you do, please lower all expectations.
