Save from 20% to 65% On Hotel Bookings in April/May (e.g Four Points Sheraton in Perth, 4 Nights for $618.56) @ Travala.com

70

As I have previously posted, Travala is a new startup company pushing itself as a Next-gen Online Travel Agency (NOTA). Although only just entering the space, it already has over 567,000 hotels in 210 countries. The website & hotel load is still in Alpha phase, but is already showing some huge savings. They have started there will be another million properties added soon, so if you are searching and cannot find a specific property, that is why!

Seems they are on average 10-15% cheaper than booking.com in all my searches, however if you search for hotels within the next 2 months, that is when you can really get some huge savings.

I've done some short time frame searches for April/May, hopefully someone has an upcoming last minute trip in which they can make use of them!

Tip - change to AUD in top right hand corner before searching

Italy:

Hotel XX Settembre: $1067.65 for 4 nights. 65.7% saving compared to booking.com on the same dates - Travala vs Booking.com proof

You can receive up to a further 10% saving on these prices, but I won't go into that here, as it will simply sound like an advert. If you are interested, you can read up on the SMART program here

They have a great referral system up and running as well, which should appeal to all OzBargainers. For every person you refer that spends $50 in on a booking, you will receive $20 of their travel credits (AVA) to use on your next booking. Make sure you help your fellow bargain hunters out by using a random referral code so we all prosper.

Although Travala.com might not be the cheapest for every single hotel (I’m not making that claim), it’s a brand new company where it is cheaper to book through than some of the largest booking sites in the world. This post is specific to a handful of hotels which show genuine savings.

  • Thanks.
I was getting all excited with the prices when I searched until I realised it was US$. When I changed to AUD$ the few places I recently stayed at were more expensive than going to the hotel direct. 🙁 (Australia, Orbost, Wollongong, Newcastle)

    • Australia appears the worst for savings at this stage unfortunately. The best luck I’ve had is searching within a 45 day time frame from today, is that what you did?

I’m hoping once they add another 1million properties, that the Aussie properties might also have some extreme savings (as other countries are already privy too)

I really should put a disclaimer in about the USD to AUD drop down……

Yeah, was for April, and I also did mid week so it’s usually cheaper than weekend or start of week.
        Oh well, thanks anyway mate.
Never really been lucky with these types of sites compared with hotel directly for the few times I need it in Australia.

Maybe I need a cheap overseas flight somewhere, anywhere.

        • Good luck mate!

  • My searches showed otherwise. They're either similar or more expensive than the big travel sites.

    • Are you saying my screenshots above, from 2 hours ago are now outdated?

Did you choose the same hotels and dates that I did?

The best luck I’ve had is searching within a 45 day time frame from today, is that what you did?

FYI I only compared to booking.com, none of the rest. Seemed logical as booking.com is the largest and owns so many of the smaller ones now…..

  • compared this site to direct with Marriott for a 4 night stay in Jakarta.
Marriott = ~$930 prepaid, no refund
Travala = $1,073 prepaid, no refund

    • What dates?

      • august.

        • Yeah, as I said above, the savings appear to be best within a 45 day from booking window. Presumably this is when hotels get desperate if they don’t have enough bookings…..

Pity you couldn’t get a good deal for your dates mate

  • Has anyone had personal experience with this website before?

I've got a trip to Japan and some of the stays are a good AUD$400 cheaper over a period of 6 nights. But checking that same period in Agoda there aren't even any rooms available at the same time.

Does this website somehow have extra availability allocated to them?

I’ve perosnally booked through them, and completed my stay without issue mate. I would certainly say you can book with confidence!

      • Perfect, that's all I needed to know!

Any issues at all with the process, just reach out to me and I’ll endeavour to help!

@NotAMoodle: I haven't had a great experience so far, after confirming through their support channel that the room I was interested was a Triple room with 3 beds, I went ahead and booked the room.

I confirmed my booking directly with the hotel and they said that my booking was for a Twin room, not a triple. I wouldn't have known about the room change if I didn't confirm directly with the hotel.

My advice would be to stay away from this mob.

            • @VlVh: Sorry to hear mate. I can categorically say this would be a once off.

I've opened up my PM's, feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can put you in touch with someone more senior.

Booked a hotel for 1 night at the Great Ocean road a couple of weeks ago. Ended up being $40 cheaper with Travala. Checked the hotel's site, Hotelscombined, Google, etc. Will add this to my sites to check for future trips.

Unfortunately, most of the popular hotel sites and booking engines are run either by Booking (hotelscombined, Priceline, Agoda, Kayak etc.) or Expedia (Trivago, Hotels.com, Orbitz etc) so all the prices are usually in collusion with each other.

    • I really have my fingers crossed that when they have the same amount of properties listed as the big boys, they can continue to provide some decent savings!

  • hi, is there any international fees that gets charged when you pay for your booking via paypal/credit card?

    • I booked for a place in Australia and was charged in AUD.

      • +1

just booked via Travala for Hilton in Japan via paypal, got charged in AUD and no extra int' fees!
Pretty good if it all goes well.

  • Hi, I am a bit skeptical - but from other people's experiences, this is a legitimate site? Every single hotel i have compared has been SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper - even for chains like Marriott, but just havent found Hilton to take advantage of Diamond status … this is a VERY good site IMO.

    Wait, was in USD!!! :D

    • Probably the most annoying thing is it doesn't sense your IP is coming from Australia and adjust to AUD accordingly!!
