  • Dropped the price from $289 to $265 right after the Computer Alliance eBay sale announced. I'm not impressed.

    • Competition is king eh

    • so is the price now the same from both stores after discount?

      • Futu was slightly cheaper unless CA have updated since

  • which deal is better…
    this one or that one?

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/446974

    • Seem to be basically the same from the benchmark

      I'd go with this because
      * Newer
      * Cheaper
      * Free game

      • the 7 does have 2 more cores but this slightly beat it in benchmark by 5%

        i guess in multicore software, the 7 would be better
        but overall the 5 will beat it by 5%

        • And 1 gen newer

          • @TilacVIP: yeah that is an another point

            though is there any new features from the gen 1 and gen 2?

            also what the zen 2 / gen 3..
            would that take over the price bracket of gen 2 cpus?

            • @pinkybrain: From what I understand some subtle improvements, mostly in RAM compatibility.

              Still for a few dollars less, slightly fast in most games, newer model, I'd definitely choose the 5 2600 over the 7 1700.

    • +1

      What are you using it for?

      Video editing - get the 1700
      Gaming - get the 2600
      neither - get the cheapest

  • Sigh.. bought it for a bit more from them a few days ago. Where do I hand in my ozb license?

    • Gets the best of us.

  • Ah so tempted to by but I’m hoping prices drop further once Ryzen 3000 series is announced

  • Whats a good cheap motherboard for this?
