      • No one is gonna stop them. They can do whatever they want.

        • err No they cant without reporting this on their contracts / to users.

          • @lonewolf: noticed this too, it's not only torrents though, even downloading various files from cloud servers and github are slow unless I go through VPN

    • my speeds are fine currently on 4-5mbps dl on torrents.
      What speeds are you getting?

i do notice they throttle speeds in the morning though,,speed test run around 20-40mbps and full speed during peak times.

      • I reinstalled Utorrent and I'm now getting 4-5MB\s which I am happy with.
I did chat to them on their website and the operator stated that they do throttle torrents but blamed their provider for doing so.

  • I don’t understand all this tech jargon
How can I get help with a good plan at a reasonable speed without dropouts
Currently with Dodo and our service is appalling

    • I'm the same as you, but my husband is even worse so I have had to deal with this side of things. Pretty happy with Tangerine, I get good speeds close to what I pay for most of the time, dont notice dropouts (get some but cant tell if its my router/device, for like a minute) . Hubby online games and he doesnt get disconnected so might be my device.

  • Looking to switch from ABb to these guys, do they support ipv6 and do they use a cg nat also? Currently on the 600gb 50 plan with abb

  • A question for rep or any others who may have experience please. Looking at signing up with Tangerine but am looking at BYO modem which I am yet to buy. TP-Link vr900 was front runner until I saw it wasn’t an ‘approved’ modem (unsure of correct wording) on tangerines end. Netgear D7000 was second placed and is an approved router. How easy is BYO modem set up? Is at almost plug and play? Not very tech savvy at all but do see the importance and want for faster speeds through non RSP supplied modems. Any help would be appreciated.

    • +1

Setup is very simple. Just a simple case of entering username and password on modem. Im using a Older Telstra branded modem with my service. Not had a single dropout that ive noticed. Having said that, its at a holiday house so im not using it all the time.

      • Legend. Thank you very much for the info. Sounds like a goer then. Anyone else able to provide info on the D7000 specifically for tangerine though? Will probably be pulling the pin after 10am this morning for the CA ebay deal.

  • if they wern't a Vocus reseller i would give them a try.

  • Any quick straight answer to how long it will take to provision an Existing HFC connection with existing NBN Arris modem & my own BYO router that already own connected to ABB.

After reading a few posts, why exactly does Vocus make you disconnect fully to only re enable HFC?

To me, its like were not connecting to NBN but rather the Vocus Network which also connects to NBN, so would that be a realistic assumption to make?

  • Just signed up after so many years of delayed NBN HFC in my area and stuck on TPG ADSL2+ (in the process of finishing my final month).
