  • By ordered you mean buy online .. or … ? as it's currently unavailable online, therefore can't use that code either …

  • +2

No need to mention that it is your first post, that little "1" next to your name already tells us that, having said that it would be good if someone could confirm if this is also the price in stores.

  • LOL yeah a bit hard to buy when not available!

Also, be aware this does not have networking.

  • HP 1.5TB Desktop Simple Save Hard Drive is also available from Bigw for $88.00

Useful in combination with the Western Digital TV HD Media Player.

    Unavailable currently online.

This makes it $1 cheaper then the Western Digital 1.5TB My Book Essential External Hard Drive at Officeworks.

Sorry to tell you this BigMac but this was available a while back at $49 each. Not sure why they are selling them for $78 now..

    • +11

sorry to tell maaadcow but the mini version was $49, this has hd version which the mini is does not. there are three seperate versions of the wdtv, (mini, normal and live). this one is the normal version

      • +1

My bad. Thanks peter, didn't even realise there's a normal version. This deserves a positive then, especially since there's another $5 discount on top of the already cheap price.

      • I bought a mini for under $50, and then somehow managed to sell it for around $80 on Ebay. I then used that money and bought a Live.

  • +4

Please note that this is NOT the LIVE version, which has ethernet capabilities - this does not.

    • Ok thanks forget this offer then. -bye

what a stupid neg, that like saying because a computer does not have a i7 i should neg the bargain, because i want a i7 computer and the bargain is for a i3.

        amen

    • You're a douche. You're such a big douche that I'm going to vote you for the Biggest Douche In the Universe award.

      • I dunno…Quaglar the Destructor; Damanta Unit 5; Ursula, the giant douche; the reigning champ, John Edward; and new kids on the block COTD are pretty stiff competition! ;)

  • Anyone noticed the Live selling cheap again elsewhere, I am looking to pickup one tomorrow.

    • Officeworks have them for $109, not as cheap as the $98 they have been in the past, but not bad.

  • Is this the same as live but with no Ethernet? Does it mean it will accept the third party firmares and will it work with the cheap USB Wifi that work with the live version?

EDIT: anyone get the annoying music on the BigW page when you access the link?

    • +1

No usb wifi with this model from what i've found. deal breaker for me.

      • Even with third party FW?I try to have a look online but since both version are called nearly the same it is hard to google accurately.

      • +2

The B-RAD firmware will give you network with the right usb adapter: http://b-rad.cc/wdlxtv/ (for the WDTV)

      • this will work with usb wi-fi dongles…… I bought a cheapie from deal extreme, and it streams fine….. even with the stock firmware….

  • Was this the one for $69.00 at HN few weeks ago?!

Apple TV + Air Video is an alternative to this and probably better suited for lots of files on your hard drives.

    • Can't output 1080p

    • True. But how many of us regularly download a single 13.5GB movie?

      • Woah, who said anything about downloading movies? I rip my blu-rays and DVDs to my computer and use that for personal viewing. It's so much more convenient having all your movies a button away.

  • Buy the Live version, it's one of the most useful gadgets I ever bought. Love the fact that I can watch movies over my home network with all my movies stored on a WD MyBook.

    • this will do the same via usb dongle….

  • you will notice the difference when you play some high rate 1080 file
