Was looking for a cheap replacement for my expiring PIA VPN. Found this code which drops a "lifetime" (turns out that's 5 years, which SocialStack will renew - thanks adr8) VPN to ~$34.

Have been using it for a day and it's working perfectly. Speed doesn't seem too bad either for peak. Supports port forwarding too.

Their Chinese VPN rarely worked if that's what you're after.

    • I was about to ask the question. I guess I will have to look elsewhere.

  • Where can I find the list of countries I can use

  • -2

Won't unblock Netflix if that is important to you

    • +3

Did you try the Netflix us server? Works fine for me.

      • I read this review.

        1. Zero Out of Four Netflix Servers Worked

        Simply put:

Ivacy doesn’t work with Netflix. And they have no intentions of reversing that stance anytime soon.

To confirm, we tested the following servers. Each one let us down:

        United States
        Canada
        United Kingdom
        Netherlands

Ivacy has even confirmed on their site, that “as the situation stands, internet users will have to cope up with Netflix’s ban policy over the VPN.”

        https://thebestvpn.com/reviews/ivacy/

    • It is important for me, derrynj8 said it will work

      • You could always ask for a refund from StackSocial if it doesn't work.

        • Will they honor and refund if it doesnt, about the pull trigger

          • @SnoozeAndLose: I've managed to get a refund out of them before for something, but YMMV.

            • @Chuppa: My memory is really foggy, but I think Stack Social don't do refunds

    • Netflix US works for me on the Mac but not iOS.

      • Can you please share which server?

  • +4

I also got this a few months ago for the same price, it is a lifetime licence. If you view your order under my account at Stacksocial it states 'After 5 years, please reach out to [email protected] to renew your subscription free of charge.'

Anyone know if this works for torrents? Asking for a friend…

    • I'm curious too if torrenting is okay?

      • +1

It says P2P, so i would say yes.

    • +15

"My friend" can confirm it works very well for torrents, he's been using it for a bit over a year now.

  • Why so cheap??

    • +13

      because it's not so expensive.

    • I got a similar deal 2yrs ago. I figured they won't last too long, but handy as a backup.

Anyway they're been quite handy when the BBC started swatting VPNs about 18mths ago. I still use them for the bbc. Speeds haven't been great, but enough to download stuff for iPlayer offline

      • how can you watch BBC without paying TV subscription? I'm interested to know about this…

        • You vpn into the uk, then create an account.
Then using the website/app to watch

  • +1

How is it compares to FastestVPN also on StackSocial please?

  • Ivacy works with overseas Netflix and speeds using the VPN are excellent (70mbps+). I have used them for 3 years and can't fault them.

I contacted them (Ivacy) using live chat about this offer. It's legit. If you already have an account, you need to setup a new account but, they will merge the 2 accounts if you wish (or you can let the old account lapse). This is an excellent deal IMO.

    • Which US server does it work with?

  • Decent review https://www.pcworld.com/article/3252240/ivacy-vpn-review.htm… about a third of the price of PIA of which my subscription just ran out. Thanks OP

  • Sure, why not.

Stack Social, what a nice company.
Bought this without code 2 hours ago.
Sent an email to ask for 40% discount.
20 mins later, told me they will refund 40% in 2-3 days.
I thought they will reply my email after a few days. Will recommend to friends

  • One of the few to have a good record with Amazon prime. Good deal.

  • "In 2010, Ivacy was the first VPN company to introduce a unique feature called “Split Tunneling.” This feature allows users to enjoy complete control over which data to send through their ISP and which data to send through Ivacy's VPN service."

I'm curious, has anyone with this product had any first hand experience?
I assume it would allow normal internet IP use for say a chrome banking session, and tunnel a torrent client through a VPN IP - would that be correct?
I wonder how easy this is to set up? Pretty handy if it works how I am thinking….

    • +1

I use it all the time (split tunning) it works well. Just make sure you load and login to the program as administrator (windows) and is pretty easy to set up. Does what it says on the tin.

      • cheers for the update!

  • Thanks OP! Purchased as a backup VPN. Spoke to support and it's confirmed that they'll renew it for free after 5 years for another 5!

  • Hi, is it possible to setup the vpn in my apple tv or router or even on smart tv so that i can directly watch usa netflix from tv?

  • Thanks OP, just purchased this and worked out well, as my subscription with PIA finishes in 3 days :D

  • +1

Becareful of this promotion. I bought it last promotion. Once I paid and they send me email said next renewal in 5 years. I ask what they promote is life time and they reply 5 years is their life time in their terms.
I try to use it and non of the VPN spot are able to connect in Australia. I need to put it on automatic selection that they have find the next available country to connect. That's the problem. First the speed is way too slow after connected (1-2mb). Secondly, If I want to go the specific country to watch my TV show, I will be on the wrong country VPN and how does it going to work.
Just don't let the attractive price to get your wallet.

    • +1

I had the same problem not being able to connect to the Australian server on a couple of my devices with their Android App. Ivacy support recommended switching on Multi-port. First try leaving it on automatic (this worked for me) or enter port number manually, if I remember correctly Port Number 5500 is what they recommended. They also recommended switching Protocols between TCP & UDP or vice versa and see if it fixes it, but send them an email and they will be able to confirm.

Regarding the lifetime licence a few have already commented above that Ivacy support acknowledged that after 5 years to send them an email and they will extend it for another 5 years. It is specifically stated in the order you placed with Stacksocial, so if after 5 years it isn't extended by 5 years you can take it up with them.

  • Just did a quick test. Netflix US and UK worked. Amazon Prime US and BBC iPlayer also worked.

    • Unfortunately I couldn't get Amazon Prime UK to work, have you tried?

  • Does this subscription works with their android app?

    • Yes works with their Android App.

  • Is it good for doing Web Crawling?

    • Are you looking at pron?

Just use duck duck go for web crawling or web walking

      • Not that, I was doing a personal project on pulling product price information out of multiple sites, but some sites can detect and restrict IP Addresses. I was using public proxy to do some job, but the performance was so unpredictable. Anyway, I have purchased the VPN to do experiment on it.

  • Just bought it but the redemption link won't load - just times out. This is not a good sign

  • Some say netflix works, others say it doesn't. Some say speeds are fast, others say slow. I guess its means performance is inconsistent, which makes sense given the price.

  • I just bought this deal, however can't seem to use Netflix US on a Mac or Android Device. Am i doing something wrong?

    • I brought it and it works

      • How is the speed.

        • i am on a ADSL2+ normal speed is 11 mbps and after i coneect to US server it dropped to 8.5 mbps, not too bad I would say

  • just purchased this today, working perfectly so far. Thanks OP

  • Is there a current link to this? Cheapest I can find is for $36 with 15% discount from $40.

    • You need to apply the code 🤦‍♂️

  • Just confirming. On the website the deal states $39.99. With code %15 discount brings price down to $34. Is this in Australian dollars, seems to be a us based site. 🤔😳😐

    • You need to apply the code DN40

  • Thanks mate.

Decided to try this as my PIA will expire soon. So far on my android phone and ipad the app works really well and decent speeds albeit not very consistent, good enough.

However, there are a few weird thing about it. First the windows app is quite poor, never work first time for me but it asks “does it work” and when I clicked “no” and it’ll try to reconnect and works usually the 2nd or 3rd time. But you expect it not to be as good as PIA app when the app asks “does it work” lol. For the price I guess it does eventually work so i’ll take it. Second weird thing if you setup manually using OpenVPN and its config files, there are not many servers as compared to using their app. For example on the app you can use for Australia: Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth however with openvpn they only have config files for Melbourne and Sydney and a bit weird for a Singaporean company to not offer Singapore or any of their other asian servers for openvpn. I usually use this for my NAS and have Australian server as main and Singapore as backup but seems like I’d have to use either NA or EU servers for backup.

In the settings tab there is a check box for redial automatically if connection drops. If you check the box it should auto connect for you. I ignore the did it work pop up and it is working fine so far.

[edit] that's for the windows app

      • Ah nice i’ll try that. Also found some issues with torrenting. It seems like most torrents wont work on Aus servers, i’ll get stuck on downloading metadata or “stalled”.

I asked them and they gave me these servers which can be used for torrenting.

With L2TP/IKE: Belgium, Brunei, Bulgaria, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, Latvia, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Sweden, Turkey, UAE, Venezuela, UK (ukm1.dns2use.com), USA (usny1.dns2use.com), Canada (caq1.dns2use.com)

        For OpenVPN:
Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Sweden, United Kingdom (Maidenhead), USA (NewYork), Canada(Quebec).

For OpenVPN some of these opvn config are not included in their config files and had to ask support to send you. I tried UDP UK, QUEBEC, NEW YORK seem not to work with torrenting(they’ll connect but torrent wont dl anything) even though they said it can. I think I ended up using Germany which worked.

        • Same issue with me. I'm running Windows 7 and utorrent 2.2.1

[On the default Australian server]I click on a magnet link, and in utorrent what I'm seeing is the DHT is stuck at 'waiting to log in'. If I stop the vpn for a moment, the dns leak killswitch activates, but utorrent starts connecting to peers (very suspect kill switch!). Then restart the vpn and sometimes the torrent will lose all it's peers, sometimes it works as it should.

I don't want to use a Belgium or other server, I want an Aussie server. I don't care if the local server is not optimized for torrents, as long as they finish eventually.

          • @rogdog: Yeah same I really prefer Aus servers too. Rather than "optimised" I think they actively tries to block torrenting on the other servers, like you said dns kill switch probably the way they do it. But for now I use Brunei server for torrenting since it was closest to us. I feel like they could've been more open about this though, that not all servers can be used for torrenting. Although speed wise i don't have an issue with Brunei I'd still prefer local/closest server.

            • @FuzzyWolf: Thanks for the Brunei tip, things are working like I expect them to now

          • @rogdog: Why use AU server if you are going to use for torrenting? wouldn't it be defeating the purpose? as AU govt will be able to track you?

  • What's the speed for connecting to their Australia servers like? Anyone able to share their experience?

  • +1

I'm not sure if this deal comes and goes but right now code DN40 still brings this down to US$24.

    • +1

      still working. ps: thanks OP

  • Code still working. Got it. I got charged around $1.5 from Stack commerce, do you guys know what's that?

    • You got charged $1.50 extra or in total?

      • It's a $1.5 on top of $35 (equivalent of us $24 from CBA)

        • Not sure, I checked my receipt at Stack Social and was charged US $24 my CBA account shows AU $34.88 but I purchased on 21/11/18 way before this deal was posted.

          • @adr8: Probably an authorization. Silly me

  • Can anyone connect to Netflix EU? I've found out that Germany has A LOT of Netflix content but it caught me :(

Update: Just going through the list of Ivacy servers and Netflix works with US, South Korea and South Africa. Haven't tried them all so if people could report back as well, that'll be great

    • Does Netflix us work?

      • Yes. It's really convenient

  • Code mentioned here will get it to you for US$16. Wow.

    • The code mentioned there has expired

  • Don't worry…my bad

  • I don't have a vpn is this worth having $33 seems cheap.

    • If you've never wished that you'd one, you probably don't need one.

      • What? Many say best to have just never got one yet.

        • What's useful to some might not be useful to others.

I bought a VPN subscription because I could see what I'd use it for. Before I got it, there were times when I thought having one would be useful and wished I had one.

  • Cannot use coupon with the items in your cart.

    • Just tried it an it worked…

Do you have extra items in your cart?

      • Thanks OP, bought it. Setting it up on my Synology NAS was a giant pain, the documentation is lacking, configs have changed etc but managed it in the end. Not bad for the price, but a lot of tinkering required unlike NordVPN which has up to date and cleaner docs.

  • Thanks for the deal. Not as fast as PIA but does the job and pretty good support

    • yeah I am happy with it, I normally just log on for a few minutes when I need to do something without being tracked

  • I bought this some months ago - but I can't seem to use it with anything. Annoying
netflix, popcorn time, bbc, any streaming service basically.

Does anybody know how to get this working??

I might purchase a different vpn if I can't fix it. Any recommendations for a low-ish price??
