  • If you're willing to wait maybe consider this cable from Aliexpress which supports USB-C PD 87W 5A. Currently down from $12.53 to $8.77 USD. Choose ePacket shipping for $1.87 and you should get it in 13-20 days

    • Do you think this is similar quality and spec to the LLano Magnetic above? I do like the angled style better, but no deal breaker.

  • Thanks, was looking for a C to C cable last week as i had purchased the Romoss 20,000mah powerbank.

  • Slightly off topic, but somewhat related…

OP: have you had any experience with the LLano Type-A to Type-C magnetic charge cable? If so, a) are they any good? and b) are they something you're likely to stock in the future?

    • Have a look at baseus for an adapter that you can use on your own cables. I have 6 of them for laptops and power banks and phone

    • They are OK for charging phones in stationary, magnet not too strong so it could disconnect easily if you want to use the phone while charging.

Also, you kinda need to have multiple of these cables around for it to be useful, otherwise the small tip can often be lost when you plug and unplug frequently.

They have high return rate so probably not gonna stock them Sorry

      • I have a couple of LLano Type-C to Type-C cables. The magnet isn't particularly strong, but it works well enough for situations where the laptop is on a desk and isn't moving. I imagine the magnet in the Type-A to Type-C is probably the same strength.

Leaving the small tip attached to the device(s) and having multiple cables in various locations is exactly the use case I had in mind. It saves wear and tear on the USB-C port, acts as a dust cover and is super simple to attach the charge cable to.

The feature I like about the LLano is the symmetrical pin design, allowing you to attach the cable in either direction. From the pictures, the Baseus implementation looks like it would have to be attached in a particular direction for all 5 pins to make contact.

Thanks for your feedback, I guess I'll keep looking for another solution.

        • These ones are a lot cheaper to make (no need for high power like 87W) so you could get them relatively cheaply from Aliexpress or joybuy to find the right solution

  • I will have Surface Go soon, any deal on cable Type C to Type A? I have an old Xiaomi bank already and Surface Go's usb type C is not thunderbolt so I dont really want to buy a new power bank just yet, mostly because Im a broke uni student.

    • What model "old Xiaomi bank" do you have as I'm pretty sure charging your soon to have Surface Go will require PD with usb C at both ends and bank capable of enough watts required, probably minimum 30W-45W.

      • +1

Its Xiaomi 20000mAh Mi Power Bank 2C: https://www.amazon.com.au/XIAOMI-20000mAh-Charge-Li-ion-Batt…

What do you mean by "require PD"? I though 1 Type-A to Type-C cable should be enough?

        • +2

That's a nice powerbank, I use one of those also for phones and tablets, but not laptops.

Did some fact checking as I was speaking in vague terms ( was just testing various power banks today on my new Thinkpad 11e via usb c, so had this on my mind ). Found out you Can charge your Go with a regular 1.5Amp charger using a usb a to c cable, even whilst your using it, so great news.

          https://surfacetip.com/surface-go-with-standard-usb-charger-…

Of course it takes more than 6 hours, but most powerbanks ( with around 2A output ) including your 2C will charge your device.

Most larger screen laptops 11" upwards, require a powerbank that has at least usb c to c Power Delivery 2 with at least 30W or higher.

Check out this article below, you probably already researched this already anyway.

          • +1

@ozhunter68: Cheers for spending your time researching. I kinda like the pro 6 but I already own PC and Laptop so Go is perfect for uni, my old Laptop is just too heavy.

            • +1

@linhlink: Yep, fully agree. I love a large 15" screen laptop at home and some car travel, but for anything on planes or trains etc something lighter and charging via usb c is great.

Hence why I got a Small ( but not so light at 1.5 KG ) thinkpad 11e that I can easily carry and charge, although not as light and easy as a Surface Go ( I would love one of those in the future when prices come down a bit ).

              • +1

@ozhunter68: Its on sale right now on HarveyNorman (64gb/128gb/128gbLTE) at ($498,$698,$898), +$1 on Microsoft website and you can go further down with 10% discounted code from Harvey Norman as well (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/eduoffer)
                Have a good day friend.

  • Hi, have you got the usb c cables with an 8mm plug?

    • What is that? Any pic?

    • Just did some quick search, do you mean that the USB%C connector is longer than the standard ones?

We currently don't have anything like that, is it for thick cases or some peculiar devices like blackvue?

      • Hi, yeah I have a blackview 9600 pro and due to the shock and water proofing the charging port is longer than normal.

I can't seem to find charging cables anywhere other than aliexpress
