Staples AU Online Free $20 Voucher [Issue Resolved]

43610
GAME20

MOD: Please note that users here have reported:
- system issues
- accounts no longer accessible
- user information may be exposed
- being told that, something went wrong with the database yesterday, a lot of information was lost, Staples are working to recover the information, meanwhile new customers are being assigned id numbers that actually belong to customers created just before the big crash and then the new id numbers are hooked up to the old history -> new customers can see other people's data

update:
- some people are now reporting that they can get back into their accounts though they can see other people's accounts
- some people are also reporting that they've received their orders now

update 20 May 2011:
- people are reporting items received
- people can use the code, though it may be better to play 1 round of the game (you don't have to win) and have them email confirmation of the eligibility to you

Link now changed to the link to the game

They figure that we have enough already. What with the State of Origin locked up for the next 15 years.

  • I just ordered for 35.49.Let's see whether they honor it or not.

  • Darn… no delivery to QLD either..
    but great deal!

  • trying to buy this too
Reflex Ultra WHite Copy Paper 80GSM A4 Box of 5
    WAS $5.49 per ream
    FROM $3.49 per ream
how come its giving me the full price for 5 packs @ $27? thought it should be $3.49x5?

    • +1

When you put it in your checkout, it takes off the $10 discount.

      • okies will try it out :) ta

  • Thanks OP. Ordered a desk organiser + box of paper with this to make it above the $55.

  • Nice, just ordered my hdd plus some lovely tea. I wanted some of those disposable coffee cups but $90 for 500? nah, my mug will do!

  • This is an awesome deal, but I had 2 dramas due to Staples website stupidity.

1: Staples won't accept a PO box as a valid invoice address. I wasted 10 minutes of my life trying to get it to accept.

2: It wouldn't let be get the wireless desktop; I had it in my basket and they deleted it when I updated my address, then when I tried to re-add it it popped up saying:

    SHOPPING BASKET

Sorry, this item is currently out of stock or you have exceeded the quantity limit. Please select an alternative product.
    1 * Microsoft 800 Wireless Desktop

  • Nice deal, got the HDD!!

  • Outstanding deal OP! Thanks a bunch, gotta love a 1tb USB3.0 HDD & 10 reams of paper delivered for under $60!

FWIW, the cheapest price for this HDD is showing up on Staticice as $85; ebay as $88!!! :D

    • many ppl purchased paper….why?? oooh..

    • +3

Go ahead and neg me if you want to embrace this kind of behaviour.

Um, yeah of course we embrace it…this is OzBargain, not OzPontification! :p

    • +15

'abusing' the deal and keeping it to yourself doesn't make you any different from us.

    • +1

Edit: Go ahead and neg me if you want to embrace this kind of behaviour.

      good idea… done…

    • +2

"abuse this deal" !!! You need to work on your knowledge of Marketing and promotion techniques. What you imagine as being abuse is a very cheap price to pay for such giant companies to get hold of new grounds and expand its market segment in such short period of time. In short, they know what they are doing so don't feel sorry for them..

      • +1

        Yep, precisely!

This is my first Staples order, so the tactic certainly worked on me. I'll be keeping an eye out with them for bargains in future as well! :)

        • My second Staples purchase here.
Again bought stuff that i didnt really need, but it was a great price.
I am sure that the margins are "fat enough" that no losses have occured.
Otherwise we would find things "out of stock"

        • Their specials are good, but their regular prices are like Harvey Norman. Try to find a decent priced 2.5" HDD at staples.

        • +3

If anyone is worried that their prices are higher than usual, perhaps you could take advantage of their price guarantee:
"If you find an identical item advertised in Australia for less than our low price within 30 days of your purchase, we’ll refund 100% of the difference"
I guess the operative word is "advertised", but worth a shot.

        • Same. In fact, I had no idea Staples was present in Australia. I only know of Staples in America and Staples Center haha.

      • now everytime they think about there marketing and promotions, ozbargains will need to be considered. i can see that as a positive but also negative thing.

    • -7

Look, what I'm saying y is if we keep treading over these deals and ripping off the companies by creating mass orders then we'll never see these kind of deals in the future.

Not saying everyone is like that. Most of these people are the ones without accounts on OzBargain.

I'm just hoping that most of us act with a bit of integrity and not rip off generous companies too much.

      • +2

no, because another one will come along.

        it's like the forests.

they keep growing so lets log the crap out of them.

        (this is a joke)

      • +2

Most companies would see a high response to a deal like this as a good thing. If 10,000 people access this deal it is cheap advertising for a company like this. They still have a large profit margin in most products. Companies still choose to advertise on the web or television even though that is a "rip off". Think of the free marketing exposure these guys have got on this website. If you want to support the company you should be promoting the deal to more people as then more people will have heard of a new company to the Australian market!

If you're so concerned about their generosity being abused, why don't you call and ask them if they mind. Their revenue last year was over $26 billion last year, so I don't think a few hundred ozbargainers buying external hard drives at $35 a pop as a marketing ploy by their Australian arm will register at head office.

    • We should be welcoming US businesses to our shores with such coupon stacking OzBargaining!

    • +2

      You dun goof'd

  • Nice deal, hope they honor it. Was actually looking for a basic wired mouse to replace a broken one, so got that plus the HDD, but was just $5 short of $55, so got some A4 copier paper as well (so it was basically free, or 75 cents or something).

What happened to Bikkie Tuesday? I want my bikkie!!

  • It's kind of weird that I couldn't remove the $10 off BOX10 coupon from my order, and I am not buying any paper. In order to avoid the high $11 shipping, I have to add two display books, 2 packs of C alkaline batteries and one cheapest pen. Using the Game20 code and the unremovable $10 off, I actually got $30 off 85, and end up paying $55.04 for 1TB USB3 disk, 2 display books and batteries, with free delivery.

Don't know why the coupon is not removable, but I did try to do so with only one display book. Credit card got charge $55, so hopefully they will honour this as it's their system fault. Damned, I should keep a screenshot anyway.

    • Yes I think there is some problems with their checkout page. Tried to buy 2 items but only charged me for 1st item I did not proceed as they definetelty will dishonor my order as not a cheap 2nd item.

    • I found if I added certain items to the cart it would add the paper discount (eg mango and lime tea bags). Maybe someone typo'd items into the list that would recieve the paper discount?

  • +1

Honestly - Best deal of this month
    Thanks OP!

  • Got 3 notebooks and 3 reams of paper for $5.50 delivered :)

  • went to the payment section and is not a secure site?????

      Can I use staples.com.au securely?

We maintain physical, technical, and procedural measures to limit access to personal information to authorised individuals for appropriate purposes.

Our website is a "Secure Site" recognised by Thawte, a leading computer network security company. If you believe that someone has improperly used personally identifiable information about you or has made purchases that you did not authorise, please contact us immediately

      • The lock icon doesn't appear on the page when you order/input your cc details. I noticed the same thing.

        • +1

If it's ok with Thawte, it's ok with me… :)

        • +7

that's what I thawte too, jv.

  • Will this still be valid if I set up 2 accounts and deliver to the same address? Would be under 2 different names, ofcourse.

    • Call them and ask… 1800-STAPLES

(post back here when they give you the answer…)

  • Best deal!

Just ordered the 1TB hdd and it's usb 3.0. At that price, it seems unbelievable.

Anyone knows what the shipping time is like?

    • it should be a day or two…

  • +1

Fantastic, just got the HDD for $35!
    Thanks OP!

    • +7

How did you manage that? I paid $35.49

      • I assume anisaac rounded off?

        • Then it would have been $35.50

        • to nearest dollar that is…

        • to nearest dollar that is…

why? purchase is by credit card, so no rounding applies…

      • +1

Obviously he paid the exact amount and rounded off the amount so he didn't have to make a post saying he got a deal for the exact amount when it would sound much sexier to round it down and say he got it for 35. :)

        • Obviously he paid the exact amount and rounded off the amount so he didn't have to make a post saying he got a deal for the exact amount

          It's not obvious to me…

Maybe anisaac should post back and explain his/her exact reasoning for not putting down the 49 cents so we can all sleep peacefully tonight…

        • +2

Damn, I got trolled. Good for you.

    • +1

maybe anisaac wrote $35 because he is lazy and it was easier than writing $35.49 :)

      • that or they liked you more than JV … :P

  • Will it work with the paper AND the discount voucher?
It says the paper valid offer isn't valid with any other offer.

  • When (how many days?) can we expect to receive this External Hard Drive ?

    • it should be a day or two…

    • +1

Ordered mine yesterday, arrived about 2pm today.
Gotta be happy with the delivery time.

  • USB 1TB + 5 reams of Reflex paper + 4 lecture books for free delivery = awesome savings

    thanks again OP

  • +1

again - no QLD delivery - disappointment!!!

  • Is it just me or is the site super slow?

    • Slow for everyone. I'm struggling to load pages. I JUST WANT MY GREEN TEA PLEASE!

Also, a big thanks to the OP! Awesome deal!

    • Its abit slow but got my order thru no problems just a min ago

  • Legendary Deal :) just got a 1TB HDD Bargain :) VERY HAPPY

  • Got confirmation letter that my CC has been charged and the item(s) is (are) on the way. Good news for all or is it not?

    • Why do you ask? Didn't you want it to happen when you purchased it? ;-)

      • Just wanna be sure that it would be despatched soon. Coz they may dishonour the voucher or else…
P/S: I bought them at 8am today so at least I got them when most didn't.

        • did you get a tax invoice, or just an order confirmation.

  • +3

You know you have a good deal when people start saying "i hope they honour it"… thanks OP

    • +6

I reckon we should add a new category to OzBargain - "I hope they honour it", its probably the only category worth checking.

      • Yeah, and most likely to be finished in an instant.

  • $35.49 is the winning number today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't see the 1TB HDD anywhere. Can someone post the direct link or is it sold out?

    • I think it just disappeared.
had it in my cart and when I went to checkout it was gone.

yeah updated image and its sold out.

    • I think it's sold out, no longer on their pages :(

      • +1

EX - wait for it…..- PIRED

    • It was there for me but told me it was sold out or I had already ordered and there was a 1 per customer limit.
Hopefully traffic dies down on the site now so I can order something I might actually need!

    • +3
  • Great deal, HDD for me too ($35.49 delivered). Site was very slow and frustrating. Kept emptying my cart and wouldn't proceed to payment, I tried 3 different browsers and got it to work in the end. Thanks everyone.

    • where is the link. I can find it.

  • site is extremely slow. has been loading since the last 10 mins and I am still getting nowhere

  • Just missed out :(

  • Oh well. Got some 4 rechargable batteries for $6 delivered. That's pretty good value as well.

  • Just spoke to some bloke on the phone..

Site is slow even for them..

    • -6

Just spoke to some bloke on the phone..

I just spoke to the girl at 7-eleven..

  • Dammit! Just found someone in Melb to order for me (in WA) and now they've sold out :(

    • -2

      get out of bed earlier…

  • What if I don't have a way of paying on line.

Is there anyway I can pay for shipping?

  • The result is definitely against Staples's initial marketing campaign.

  • if you're after the verbatim 1tb hdd, all out! just spoke to a guy at staples, the site was creaking and flaking out under all the last minute orders thanks to this promo code!
