MOD: Please note that users here have reported:
- system issues

- being told that, something went wrong with the database yesterday, a lot of information was lost, Staples are working to recover the information, meanwhile new customers are being assigned id numbers that actually belong to customers created just before the big crash and then the new id numbers are hooked up to the old history -> new customers can see other people's data

- some people are now reporting that they can get back into their accounts though they can see other people's accounts
- some people are also reporting that they've received their orders now

        The Terabyte definitely was listed as Sold Out for a bit.. Possibly marked as Sold Out to ease the load on the servers!

    The coupon has been removed. Too many people used/abused it. My order obviously got cancelled. Like most of us who only basically got $20 worth of stuff and only paid the shipping, those orders got cancelled.

    My account doesn't even exist anymore, and they're trying to remove trace of their mess. Hopefully they don't charge me or unethically use our credit card details.

      Have any worthy source to back up the claim that the orders are cancelled or are you just making up Mod: Foul Language? How do you know your account doesn't exist? They may have just taken the database down for a little while.

        I agree with him. it looks like they are deleting accounts and orders to cover their tracks.

        I placed an order when this deal was first posted, paid $6.35 and received my invoice from them, my account is now deleted.

          Trying to reset my password gives me this error:

          The Email Address entered doesn't exist.

          This confirms my email has been changed in their database or my account has been deleted.

          Proof enough for you?

          You do realise that it would take 2 mins to change the login page to disable user logins (for any reason, maybe they just want to halt orders for a while). Then they could change those few lines of code and everyonecan log in again. Saying that you can't login proves that your database entry is deleted is a very foolish prediction.

          Further proof their database is fine and they haven't disabled logins, other people can login. Need more proof?

          In that case I will answer your questions. I'm not sure why you think errors are predefined but programmers have the power power to determine such error messages, and it is even more likely in a custom made site like theirs. The reason you can still see the products would be because products are stored in another table (absolutely basic DB knowledge here) or there are multiple databases.

          The fact that other people can still log in is the only thing that worries me.

          Other people can login which proves the table with customer details is perfectly fine.

          If they have deleted your account, does that mean youre claiming that they have deleted your credit card details too?

          Why would they restrict it to people who created their account outside of a certain time. Whats the point?

          Also someone has already said they have been able to create a new account with the same email. The email address would need to be unique, this proves they have deleted account details from the database.

          Basics of a database, if you are using a field as a login ID, IT NEEDS TO BE UNIQUE, furthermore, if a field is set to unique, trying to add another record with a duplicate entry for that field will fail.

          Checkmate.
