  • Are there any high specs chromebook? Or is that not a thing because it can't run windows app? 🤔🤔

    • It can run Android apps as well as Chrome apps

      • And Linux apps. But yeah they still focus on those low-powered programs, so while you can find i5 Chromebooks, i7 is rare and i3 is usually the sweet spot.

Also battery life if you add more processor you reduce the life of battery

        • +1

Also the OS is optimised that it doesn't need higher processor to do same job. As your paying for the 10hr battery life which is more suitable in school environments then 2-3hrs for standard cheap laptops

        • Yeah no I agree and that's the way google seems to have marketed. I'm glad that it can run android apps. It means that I should be able to play all the games and run the windows office suite

The device in this deal could possibly be considered 'high-spec' in the Chromebook world, but other then that there are Google's own offering (Pixelbook) which isn't available in Australia.

Whats with all these crap spec Chromebook deals lately, I understand its all cloud based but for that kind of money there are way better alternatives (windows wise)

Different requirements. Same as wyse terminals are around the $700 mark.

That link is for a 768p screen demo model.

    Core i3
    8GB RAM
    64GB eMMC storage

    $850…

This is a bad deal, and most definitely not a bargain.

    • Agreed.

Just buy a windows laptop and USB boot free chromium or virtualise it if you want Chromebook style

I think this isn't a good deal sorry. Much better laptops you can get in every respect.

Good for those who want Chrome, Android & Linux in one UI. And I'd appreciate any links to better deals, taking into consideration how thin & light this device is, with long-lasting battery.

      • You can just buy another better value laptop and chrome OS on it.

Not a valid reason to neg according to OzB voting guidelines https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines

Please provide link for better deal on this or similar spec Chromebook.

Back on sale for $799.00 which is $200.00 off RRP. For a new model Chromebook this almost seems suspicious!
