Also available on eBay with extra 3% off (PLACE coupon).

Anyway, 6% cashback seems more attractive.

Have one of these in my car permanently in case I get caught out. Works well, worth it at this price.

    • +6

Permanently? So, you never actually wear it outside of your car?

    • Does it use DWR coating for its water resistance? Couldn't find the info on their site

Thanks OP! Got 2, ready for Tassie!

  • Can anybody recommend a cheap no-name version of these? They seem to start around $10 on ebay, but I presume the quality is hopeless.
I need one for occasional use when I have to be outside for a while, but I don't need an expedition or hiking jacket.

    • Just tried on some at Big W and Kmart today for around $25 each, but pretty sure their not waterproof/wet weather proof.

Go to decathlon, great value and quality. Completely ditched Kathmandhu and others afer checking it out.

I recently bought the Macpac one after comparing the two but both are very similar.
It’s also on sale at $50 so slightly cheaper than this one

    • And is available in more sizes at the moment too.

  • Actually was looking for one, cuz I have a few hiking trips and fishing trips to go to this year. Thanks

I think for a piece of fabric for shielding out rain, at $59 still quite dear. Maybe a $15 one from no brand off eBay will do the same trick, with decent quality too.

    • Thanks for your thoughts.

Kathmandu is on discount 24/7/365. Their full prices are made up numbers that are never used. Nothing they have is a genuine bargain…

    • Well said, however Kathmandu stuffs are pretty decent, well for those items that I have bought so far.

  • The blue ones can't seem to be added (M/L). Bought red instead.

Does anyone know what the waterproof rating for this is? Heading to the UK for 5 months and I need something properly waterproof…

    • +1

Went into store this morning to purchase one of these, was advised that it isn't 100% waterproof, would be OK in a light shower or two, but not in a heavy downpour. Would also get quite steamy as it's only a single layer. Made to a price.

Last time I was in the UK it rained every day I was there, so I wouldn't consider taking one of these to keep dry, but YMMV.

My experience of the UK weather (London mostly) is that it drizzles often but it's rare to have heavy soaking rain or rain with high winds. I would often walk 15 minutes in the rain in a regular jacket (not waterproof) and only be a little damp at the end.

I think this would be fine for water resistance but you will need something warmer for most of the year.

Kathmandu have an appalling customer service/advocacy. I was coaxed into buying a backpack from the store and I asked the sales counter to hold it while I go and get something to eat. I realised that the backpack was not something suited to my needs and requested to cancel the sale. The backpack never left the store and after an hour when I requested to cancel the sale they showed me their return policy. I contacted their customer complaints and they chimed the same tune. I ended up with buying a backpack for $650 that I dont need.

Who spends $650 on a bloody backpack without being absolutely sure they want it? Yikes…

    • +1

Fair critisism, honestly it's more than reasonable to accept a return if the product has not left the store.

    • +1

What exactly did the policy say?

On their website, it shows Change of Mind? No Worries.

  • +1

It seems that the return policy has been reviewed recently. I am not asking that people stop buying from Kathmandu but just sharing my experience.
