I have this laptop - it's fantastic. Haven't had any issues at all with it and the battery life is amazing. For the price, it's a steal. Just make sure to use a decent case with some padding, as I've managed to slightly bend the screen and dent the top slightly too. But really my own fault, I was a bit complacent as to how strong it was. Performance wise it's great.

    • Out of curiosity does it charge through usb c?

      • +1

The 2nd and 5th pics on eBay seen to show a fairly standard charging port, though that doesn't rule out USB-C charging, of course…

      • +2

No unfortunately it doesn't charge through USB-c. I got the i7 + 16gb version 2 years ago for 1400. Good little machine. Like the keyboard of this much more than the xps 15.

edit: actually i bought exactly a year ago during easter sales as well for $1200.

        • What's the battery life like after one year? And the weight? Cheers

          • @ITveteran: Weight as per specs. Battery life, I've usually been comfortably getting 8-10 hours with normal use.

    • Lucky you didn't crack the screen. Maybe the flip design means they've reinforced it a little more than some laptops??

    • any case recommendations?

      • It comes with a carry bag, if you don't mind.

        • Yup, I saw that (already ordered it) but don't need a carry bad as I have a couple already. Just asking about a case if i want to carry it in my hand or keep in protected while travelling. Cheers

  • can the ram be upgraded or its soldered?

    • Soldered , I think only Thinkpads allow RAM expansion

      • Most thinkpads these days don't unfortunately.

Other devices like the XPS 15 and many gaming laptops like the aero 15x and GS65 have memory slots.

        • That's a shame, work t460/480 allows it

    • Can confirm inside specs it says not available to upgrade.

      • Too bad, if only this has type-c charging and 2 ram-slot.

Need a deal on yoga 730.

    • -5

8gb ram is not enough nowadays

      minimum for me is 16gb.

      • +6

        16gig is so 2018
in 2019 we need 128gig ram

        • 16gb is so 2015….

      • Lmao, who downvotes this? I have 32GB in my RB15AV and now 32GB SO-DIMMs have been released by Samsung I'm looking to get a 2*32GB sized kit.

Oooof good price on the master. Ozbargains fav!

    • Whats the difference between the two

      • Primarily size. Extra few buttons on the Master

    • @worldaroundus123 Thanks

    • Doesn't work yet? Looks like this code isn't ready yet. Please try again later.

      Bah. 9pm

      • Yeh, try again at 9pm. It should work then. šŸ˜„

    • Anyone know how much bigger/better is the Master compared to the Anywhere? Working between multiple offices right now and downright hate using the mix of Dell and HP mice so the Anywhere looks good, but the Master looks a lot more comfortable

      • +2

i use both Master 1 and 2. If you're going to carry around, it's worth considering to buy a carrying case from ebay (something like $10-15) which protects the mouse really well.

    • +1

Thanks, picked up the MX Master before they jack the price (remove the original discount).

  • Also FHD screen.

Supplied Accessories: Carry bag + Stylus

    Interesting. A carry bag?

    • +3

Itā€™s more like a sleeve, my wife has the i7 version of this. Itā€™s actually a quality sleeve that comes with it

  • +1

Damn four days ago I brought two at $87 from their eBay store! Sadness!

    • +1

      Buy new, return old.

    • same :( i dont think bing lee allow change of mind returns/price guarantees? does anyone know?

  • +1

I wish my MX master 1 was broken so I can buy the 2S

  • Anyone know the weight of this laptop? Seems like a better deal that the surface pro deal from Good Guys.

    • +1

Should be either 1.3 or 1.4kg. I was looking into the s model which is 1.1kg

      • cheers

    • +1

      asus website: 1.4kg

  • I've got this exact laptop and I'm not sure how, but the right hinge moves a bit on mine. Might just be my unit. Doesn't affect the laptop in any way

Other than, it's been a great, reliable machine. I use it for uni and has no problem with browser tabs, MS Office, etc. Even android studio (somewhat hardware intensive) works well

    • +1

you better check if the screw loose asap, otherwise the holder of hinge maybe borke in the future

      • Don't see any screws on the surface but I'll look into it.

        Thanks for the advice though

  • Does the Asus come with pen?

    • Yes, it comes with stylus.

      • From experience? (just that it's listed as optional on Asus site and not mentioned on the listing)

        • +1

On the Bing Lee eBay listing, under specs tab.

Supplied Accessories: Carry bag + Stylus

          • @O O: Thanks.. (CTRL+F failed me)

  • "Please enter a quantity of 0 or less"

3 sold today, surely that can't be it for the Asus…

  • 8gb isn't great without any way of expanding

  • damn good price for these Logitech mouses!

  • +1

very nice price on the MX master 2s

  • +1

So tempted to grab the MX Anywhere. Shame theres no stock at the local bing lee, $9 postage is a killer …

  • Been eyeing the master 2s for a while.

  • 160 sold - Out of stock on the Master

  • Keep in mind that for taking notes in tablet mode, the screen has issues registering the writing with stylus. In normal mode, seems to work better.

Not as good for taking notes for students as something like the Surface Pro.

Otherwise a great machine for the money.

See the reviews on OwnOrDisown Youtube channel.

  • I'm using the i7 version of this laptop, and bought the i5 version for my girlfriend. Except for the stylus writing issue and an old version USB-C (data only, basically), it's been wonderful to use. Has built-in micro-USB slot for extra memory. Highly recommended!
Sleeve is great to rest the laptop on when flipped (to protect the keyboard from the table/etc)

  • Warning for the MX Anywhere 2S: there's no middle button/mouse wheel click. Instead, it's used to switch between "hyper scroll" (free movement unimpeded) or traditional granular scrolling. There's a button below the scroll wheel that you can map to middle click instead, but it's not ideal and ruins an otherwise perfect mouse.

    • So does MX Master 2S.

  • +2

I'd like to recommend M720 triathlon, $47 pickup at binglee

Advantages over 2s: 6 full gesture buttons (3 more commands than thumb scroll) + device switching button on top + extra scroll mode switch.

Master 2s thumb scroll feels clunky and I wasn't able to adjust its smoothness when I played around with it, to have 5+0.5 gesture buttons it also has to sacrifice the mode/sensitivity switch below scroll wheel, so utility wise M720 can do more commands if you don't use thumb scrolling feature much

Downsides: fixed 1000 dpi, no darkfield laser(worse tracking capability), no on-board memory (m4 & m5 commands get overridden in games that recognises m4m5, cannot be assigned as default 4 & 5 button in gesture mode), device switching button next to m4 some might misclick

Others: it uses AA battery instead of rechargeable, size is medium fits everyone unless you're a big guy

  • Canā€™t believe I missed out on the mouse again šŸ˜

Zenbook UX431UA 14ā€ stock x 7 available on eBay binglee again.

    • Thanks! Deal updated.

  • Wish the MX Ergo wasn't $30 over competitors.

  • I'm so dissapointed I missed out on the UX461UA and all thats left is the TP412UA because the battery life on the UX is meant to be amazing and 57w/h. I might still settle for the tp412 because the price is good.

    • What model UX461UA are you referring to? Was that a model offered by Bing Lee but not posted here on OzBargain?

      • +2

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-UX461-Zenbook-Flip-14-Notebā€¦

it was this one but the listing has meant to be ended, i just messaged bing lee in the hope that it comes back.

        • +2

Thanks. I see why you prefer it, brighter/better screen, bigger battery, and is it even lighter at 1.4 Kg or is that for different config.? Hope you get one, otherwise the tp412 is still a nice machine for the $.

  • +1

Sold out again but still stock of the similar but slightly cheaper alternative:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-Asus-VivoBook-Flip-14-I5-1-6ā€¦

  • Bing Lee shipped anyone's UX461 yet?

    • Received mine today, packaging was damaged.

      • That sucks, was it packed in another box or just a label slapped on the laptop box?

        Gear ok inside though?

        • The actual laptop inside seems fine, the box was damaged from multiple sides cause they just wrapped it up with a thin layer of bubble wrap. Didn't even put it in a proper cardboard box with padding, like Amazon does.
