2018 iPad 32GB $29/Month for 24 Months with 10GB Data @ Telstra

200

Similar to the previous deal which is now expired.

Message to Mods: I tried to comment on the above deal but comments are closed and unable to report it as I reported it previously.

The small plan is $29 ($19 plan and $10 tablet) and now includes 8GB bonus data so in total you will get 10GB data. So seems like a good deal for $29x24 months, totaling $696.

You should be able to add Peace of Mind to this plan after chatting with Telstra online (I was able to do that during the previous deal).

  • I’m wondering if it’s worth me getting this to replace my IPP 9.7” gen1…

    • I replaced my 2011 iPad 4 and absolutely love this one… not sure if it will be an improvement over iPP though

No. I'm not even sure I'd swap if it was free, and certainly not for $29*24 = $696

      • The newer iPad would have the A10 chip wouldn’t it, while the IPP would have the A9? Stats seems similar otherwise?

        • Because the iPad Pro has the A9X (higher clock) they perform similarly, but you get worse cameras. I don't think you'd notice any real-world performance difference which is why I don't think I'd upgrade for free. It absolutely isn't worth spending money on upgrading.

I just signed up a month ago to an iPad 6th gen 128gb plan with telstra including 20gb data for $34/month. The deal was posted on here as well. The 32gb iPad was also $28/month. I got a bonus 5gb speaking with a chat representative luckily making it 25gb.

    • how did you get this, on chat with Telstra and they cannot offer this deal

      • It was a promotion about a month ago. It lasted half a day.

    • Good deal.

I know Telstra receives more love as always, but just want to point out that Optus is doing the same deal with 13gb of data.

  • Is this eligible for the $140 cashback from Shopback?

    • Prepaid, Tablet, lease plans not applicable for cashback

Think carefully if 32GB is enough.. I got on an old deal like this 2 years ago ($20 pm for the current iPad at the time), and got the 32GB for my son.. but its a constant struggle trying to fit all his apps on, we need to keep deleting things just to even do iOS updates. Unless you don't use many apps, 32GB is inadequate in 2019.

    • Agreed. 32 GB is okay for browsing & ebooks, but today's IOS update file sizes and apps are just getting larger.

      • Can't you do updates over your home Wi-Fi?

        • +1

There needs to be enough physical storage on the device to unpack and install them, if you have too many apps, there wont be enough space and you'll have to delete some. The OS itself takes up a lot of space, plus there needs to be enough working space for the updates. Nothing to do with the actual downloading.

    • I got 32gb on my phone and work fine.

Google Play lets me keep my music in the cloud. Photos are backed up online and deleted locally every day. I got big ass games like Fortnite and Vice City on there too. Still got well over 20gb free.

Of course, I also use a Nokia 3310 a lot of the time too, so I get by with (profanity) all space fine. People gotta stop installing useless apps for stuff you can do in the browser, and do better half the time at that. Facebook wants 2 apps? Go to hell, hit the "use desktop site" button and you're fine, etc.

  • I’ll keep my wifi ipad till 5g ipad releases

  • I got a similar Telstra deal at the start of the year and wanted to get a second device for my kid. Telstra live chat rep wouldn't give me the Peace of Mind option on the new plan.

Anyone have luck getting POM on this?

    • I would be interested too. POM was given in previous promotion as it was a companion deal I think.
