  • Do games run perfectly fine off an external ssd if your primary hdd is full on a gaming laptop?

depends on the interface , usb3 yes, usb 2 no.

    • Not as fast as the internal drive, if it's Nvme, and possibly even SATA3 unless you have a USB 3.1 Gen 2 3.2 Gen 2 port.

      • idea of T5 is moblity, they are much smaller than DIY a 2.5” drive into a usb case, unlike built in nvme or sata 3.some people store games on removable media as it’s easier to take with them eg to use on xbox at friends house if you don’t want to download 50 GB game again . Also i’d recording gaming sessions on one machine but them edit on another.

        these drives are very quick,

        • I can see this being a useful use case for posing Xbox at a friend's place.

I don't think it would work that simply for PC games though.

I would only be using it as a USB stick that also needs a cable. It's too expensive for mass storage and I don't require the faster speed.

Bing Lee has increased their price from $269 to $299.

  • this deal needs harvey, or jb to step up to the plate with a deal for those that don’t like postage and aren’t in sydney.

    • They wouldn't have 10% off on ebay though. And they're not going to PM an ebay % off coupon.

  • I bought one off the other Bing Lee deal and it came password protected so I suspect it's not new. Bit dodgy. Can't do anything with it without knowing the password so have to return it now zzz.
