I like visiting my local Woolies to play spot the empty shelves where the specials should be.

    These are pretty good potatoes.

Rain checks in order, though there’s always stock at my woolies of specials, just don’t go Tuesday night

    • yep woolies are the worse for specials…from my experience anyway.

Its like they're given a choice of only needing to stock say 70% of the specials… and they choose the non popular ones with a few popular ones sprinkled in

Very nice and so easy to cook in a airfryer

Coles cleared out tons of them across the nation in March for only 98c.

    • Do they not stock them anymore?

      • +2

No, they replaced a lot of frozen potato products with Coles branded versions.

        • Coles replaced most of their Bird eye range products with McCain products. Must be some story behind this.

          • @Username Taken: “Coles is clearing space for an exciting new range of products that are set to land in stores across Australia over the next couple of weeks … watch this space,” the spokesperson told news.com.au.

That is marketing speak for we're going to gut branded products for our own branded ones, but I think you are right about McCain. A quick search of Coles' shop online shows a whole bunch of McCain products and some new Coles branded ones.

It's like what one of the major two, I can't remember which, did years ago with the batteries, just cutting a whole brand from their shelves.

          • +1

@Username Taken: Coles completely got rid off Inghams in favour of Steggles as well.

      • +1

None of the Coles I have visited have had any stock of this, or other flavours, for weeks thanks to the sub-$1 price-point.

these are nowhere near as good as their chips. avoid

    • +1

      yeah they're pretty bad tbh

i’ve had good success with the birds eye potatoes, think it. ignite depend on oven type and temp, and also how crowded the baking tray is.

this is much cheaper than trying to find potatoes that are optimized for roasting and peeling then yourself.

    • +1

Yea tried it and didn't really like it at all

  • +2

Rubbish, appear to be reconstituted potato like Potato Gems. Avoid. While you're at it avoid the various Birds Eye frozen fish fillets as well which have more grease in them than fish …. aaarrrgh .. :-( .. !! Their chips are also pretty dreadful, we prefer the (cheaper) Coles own.

    • +1

the rosemary chips are the best chips in the freezer aisle

    • Birds Eye = overrated

  • IMO these are nowhere near as good as the chips.
