    Mrs Ball's Chutney

    Poor Mr Ball.

The Mrs' Balls Sauce is always good! :)

    • As good as Mr Ball's Sauce though?

      • Better

This recipe uses the chutney and mayonnaise in the marinade. Sounds weird but is seriously delicious.

I made this for dinner last night actually! Although it was a simpler version:

Mix 1 packet brown onion soup powder with 1 cup cold water (If you are near a South African shop, grab the soup powder from them - it's perfect for this)
      Add 1 cup tangy mayo
      Add 1 cup chutney
Mix (with a whisk works best) and pour over chicken in a baking dish (I usually buy a whole chicken and cut it up into 8-10 pieces - LEAVE SKIN ON!!!)
(Feel free to add onions/ chilli etc to preference)
Bake at 180C for about an hour
Serve with rice and veg / salad
      Seriously delish!

    Mrs Ball's Chutney Varieties

Are these the mild ones, or the hot ones?

    Hot Ball's are awesome…

  • +2

I got the hot chutney a few months ago. It's mostly sugar and hardly hot.

    • +6

Yup. Sadly most of these sauces are like this. Look at the ingredients and they're like 20-25% sugar. I'm like O_o

I have the chilli chutney, nice kick and whilst sweet, I enjoy it

  • IGA also has a Jalapeno variety.

    what's the usual price?

  • Mr Ball's sauce is all sugar, no substance eh ..

  • Love Mrs Ball's, but anyone after a good chilli sauce should check this stuff out. Note: does not contains termites, sorry.

  • Sounds like they're on the ball with these condiments.

  • Any blue ones?

  • This.. or Ginger nuts?

  • I like the original variety but not the spicy - I enjoy it as a condiment with curry.

Coles and Woolworths sell the Original and Peach.

I used to live in South Africa so grew up on this stuff!

  • I sure do love the taste of balls. Especially lady balls.
