      haunting deal

    • I honestly think this deal is just as good as that one.

      Side by side comparison:

Hex core 8750H vs quad 7700HQ
Fully fledged lappy 1070 vs 1080max-q
      Screen 17 inch 144Hz vs 15 inch 120Hz
Memory single channel 16G vs dual 32G
      256GSSD + 1THDD vs 256G nvme*2
Asus ROG Strix vs Acer Triton
      $1836 vs $1999

    • Never forget…

They are running out the old models as all the newer ones have the RTX 2060/2070 GFX cards in them. I'm looking at the purchasing the GL704GW which has the RTX 2070 and a 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD. Efficient and effective cooling seems to be a big issue for these newer GFX cards. I understand that the Asus HyperCool technology does a better job than others at keeping temperatures down. A laptop that throttles performance when it gets hot under heavy load is of no use to me for the application I want to use it for. It's worth noting as well that Asus are using full performance RTX cards and not the lower spec RTX Max-Q variants.

Not negging this deal but have had nothing but trouble with my ROG and really very poor Asus service. Sadly I bought mine in Singapore so ACCC / fair trading laws are not applicable.

Its an Asus problem and not a retailer issue.

    Just be aware…

Reviews mention that it runs very hot and very loud (even for a gaming laptop).
But if your house is too cold and too quiet, go for it :)
