    VA panel :(

    • +3

From what I have researched it's a sweet spot in between TN and IPS. So it's better than TN which is great :) Also I think the VA panel provides darker blacks.

    • Compared to what though? Better than TN, and better for games at this price.

    • Only downside to VA is lower response times/ghosting on poorer pannels. Samsung'd be using excellent pannels for their own monitors.

    • This is probably one of the best VA panels on the market though, and it's apparently got solid overdrive.

This is great as a cheap 1440p 144hz monitor, or as a secondary monitor for those want a VA panel for their use case.

  • Would be insta buy for me if it had the adjustable stand :-(

    • I'm with you. I just don't understand having zero vertical adjustment. We're not all the same size!

      • that's one good use for old yellow pages

  • Good value at this price. Not a bad monitor. I'd give it a 6.5/10. Its just damn bulky (esp the stand) and a pain not being adjustable. Having used Dell ultrasharp (IPS) for many years, it took a bit of getting used to. Still prefer IPS. The blacks aren't very deep either on this panel.

    • Those dells are too slow for gaming though.

      • Yeah I know. Just miss the IPS image quality.

        • Ideally I would want be OLED. But we can't have everything

      • They way people go on about it makes you think using anything but the best 'gaming' gear and you might as well kill yourself. Left is right, up if down, all the colours are inverted, constant punches to the head.

I've been using the same Dell eIPS for 11 years now, and it works absolutely fine. I love it and have never been at a disadvantage when gaming.

I get it if you're playing games competitively as a career and every little benefit no matter how small can effect your income.

But the general consumer goes a bit far if you ask me.

        • I notice blurring even on websites with the dell ips. Playing some games on it makes me feel ill with all the blurring. If you don't notice that then that's cool! But I wouldn't go recommending it to others that might want to play some games, as even basic gaming can show the slowness of the monitor.

  • 144hz freesync? g-sync? or none?

    • +1

None on this model, though it's possible this may just be a QLED VA panel that didn't quite make specification. You could try enabling Freesync via CRU to see if this will work via DisplayPort, but I wouldn't be purchasing this on the basis of that.

  • cheapest out there but Umart is selling for 399 with free delivery, so not much of a discount

  • +1

    no freesync on this monitor?

  • Why on earth do you need curve on a 27" panel?

  • Between this and the LG what are peoples thoughts? $90 difference.

    • The LG is 4k with a IPS display which is good however it's locked at 60Hz the Samsung monitor is 2k and has 144Hz which can be better for gaming.
