  • Great deal! Lol @ the huge markdown for FFXIV, and for good reason!

    • is it REALLY bad?

      • Yup (I was an unfortunate person who bought it), despite being 7 big patches later & allowing users to play for free still - all they've done is fix up some of the major UI bugs which required players to play even longer just to do the most simplest of things

It still plays like BETA, there's very little gameplay and the servers are almost empty now once people realised just how bad it is. Thanks to replacing nearly the whole original developer team its slowly getting back on track but you'd probably have to wait another year before things start getting more entertaining

        • definitely not getting it then.

anyways, there aren't any games that i really want on there. i just cannot find 3 that i want. maybe Bioshock 2, Arkham Asylum and Sins of a Solar Empire but too bad Bioshock is sold out. i'll have to give this one a pass.

there are some really old games on there, almost looks like a museum to be honest.

        • I bought FFXIV too although I only payed like $20 for it. I thought it was free but you still need to give them your credit card details so when it does go pay to play they'll charge you. I said screw it and uninstalled it. Apparently if you selected "US" as your location it was possible to put their Crystal point system as a payment method instead of a valid credit card. At least I got a pretty manual to look at sigh.

    What an insane bargain!
Hint : everything after the first page is either old or crap aka "not a bargain".
    I netted : Napoleon TW, Batman:AA, AvP.
I made a pact with myself to never use G4WL because I've had numerous problems with it and even though these tiles are all G4WL I can't resist an offer as good as this!
Thanks for making my saturday morning so wonderful :)

Keep in mind GFW ("Runs on Windows") is different from GFWLive (Microsoft's crappy, buggy version of Steam).

I don't think Napoleon is available on GFWL for example while Batman is on both platforms. In the product desc for The Hut I can't find if any/either is required for install/play.

      • All copies of Arkham Asylum need GFWL. Best thing to do is create an offline account instead of an online one. Saves a lot of hassle.

Neverwinter Nights Deluxe is a great buy.

  • Please delete these 2 from the list so people won't be tempted to buy them. They are very bad games.

    • Alpha Protocol

    • Final Fantasy XIV

    • +1

I bought Alpha Protocol - let's hope I like it more than you did!

  • I ended up getting Alpha Protocol, Sherlock Holmes, and Stalker Call of Pripyat!

    • Stalker is simply amazing. You will relish the experience of the campaign and marvel at the refined gameplay mechanics. I even used this game at a LAN between 6 computers for deathmatch, maps are so big and richly detailed.

      • it's bloody scary though, not for me LOL. weak heart.

  • Does PAY15 still work?

Also FFXIV is pay per month just like FFXI and WoW.

There are a few games where the CD keys can be activated on Steam:

    Aliens vs Predator
    Supreme Commander 2
    Prey
    Napoleon: Total War

    • How do you tell?

    • I'm also curious how you can tell. Having Steam support is the kicker for me, as I'm definitely on the fence.

    • Add to the list with Steamworks support:

      King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame
      Lionheart Kings Crusade
      Red Orchestra
      Commander: Conquest of the Americas

Grabbed 3 copies of Hello Kitty: Let's Go Shopping, thanks

    • +5

When are they bringing out Aliens v Predator vs Hello Kitty?

  • Zavvi have exactly the same deal at the moment (not surprising since they are owned by the same company) so if THeHut doesn't have what you want in stock then it might be worth having a look at Zavvi

It's also worth mentioning that the 3 for $15 deals include free shipping!

  • how long does postage take?

  • great deal. Thanks for that!

Re: Clinton I think it's free shipping for 3 games

  • no i meant how long will it normally take to ship?…i saw napoleon total war takes up to 1 month to be dispatched :S

    • Those ones you have to wait till they get stock in from their supplier which could be a matter of days or a a matter of months.

Once despatched it can take 10 - 35 days delivery to OZ. I've had stuff take 5 weeks to arrive but I suspect it's because of customs inspections who have to screen for illegal substances. eg. they may make a small slice in your product to confirm nothing illegal is being brought in to OZ.

Sometimes thehut won't ship all your items in one go. The items will be sent days, or weeks apart, to decrease the risk of fraud/theft.

  • At the time I ordered this morning my games were instock for a 24hr dispatch. I anticipate to get them in 2 weeks tops.

Guys, just to warn you before you buy. I have been a regular customer of zavvi for a few years, but TheHut has really screwed me in my latest order.
BEWARE! Read some of my comments from this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45734

They seem to have lots of system problems at the moment, so basically if your order isn't a straight forward order->despatch you are likely to get screwed along the way.
I have spent the last 2 days trying to get in contact with customer service, but they have ignored all of my requests and have charged me anyway. Even after telling me initially that they had cancelled my order.

My [unanswered] messages to them (I had to save these manually because sending through their customer service system = no evidence)

Excuse me, I already logged in to cancel this order earlier in the day! Why was something dispatched? Last thing I checked the status was processing the cancellation.

From the beginning this is what happened.

I ordered 4 items of clothing for a total of £50, with PAY15 it came down to £42.49. There was also an xbox 360 game in my basket that I couldn't remove and had no price which I took just to be a temporary glitch showing the wrong thing.

Then I received an email notifying me that my order was cancelled because one of the items couldn't be sourced. I decided to check my account to make sure that everything was properly cancelled so I could create a new order with similar items that were actually in stock.

I noticed 3 things: My order was not cancelled, I was still going to be charged for 4 items even though you cancelled one of them, and the xbox 360 game that I didn't want added another £3.85 to my order making it £46.34!

I then immediately clicked cancel on order and filled in the reason. The items then changed to 'processing cancellation'. I thought that it was over with, nothing was paid for and nothing dispatched, easy to fix.

Now, several hours later I received an email letting me know that you dispatched an item to me and I fail to understand why. You notify me first telling me you cancelled the order, I double checked and requested a cancellation just in case, and you still dispatch the order? And on top of that you are charging me the full amount for 3 items instead of four and extra on top for an item that didn't even add to the total in my initial order.

I don't think it is legal for me to make an order where I agree to pay £42.49 for an order of 4 items, but as my account informs me, you are going to charge me £46.34 for 3 items and a video game which your site decided to throw in.

If I hadn't checked my account I would have taken your word for it when your email informed me that 'my order has been cancelled' and you would have charged me without informing me that I was paying more for less. The worst part is that I didn't take your word for it, and I took the necessary actions to settle this screw up, and yet it seems I have no choice but to watch you dispatch the items and charge me regardless.

I am regular customer of zavvi and this is really making me distrust your company as a whole. Please do not continue to screw me over and leave me uninformed. I want the order cancelled.

Several hours later after no response and another dispatch email…

This is just getting ridiculous! I have pressed the cancel button more times than I can count. It says processing cancellation and then half an hour later my account is back to processing the order.

This, on top of the 3 verbal requests I have sent through your contact system (which conveniently seems to be the only way I can contact you) and I can only come to the conclusion that you are purposely dispatching my orders so that payment goes through.

I have given more than enough notice and have received no word from your customer service whatsoever. Let me make it clear one more time; I DO NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO WITHDRAW FUNDS FROM MY ACCOUNT. DO NOT DISPATCH ANY MORE ITEMS TO MY ADDRESS.

Since you are unwilling to do things the legal way I am now going to take this up with paypal because there is no way I am going to complete another transaction with TheHut Group.

        • It seems that they have lost a customer in you. What a shame. I hope you get this resolved quickly. All my dealings with Zaavi&Hut have been smooth and without incident, but I only placed simple automatic orders with no amendments or cancellations. This is really dodgy customer service. Thanks for sharing this.

      • The game is part of a deal they are doing: "purchase at least 50 worth of clothes and get a free game". It is just automatically added to your cart whether you want it or not.

        • so it's even worse now that they are charging me extra for it and not giving me the chance to cancel my order..
it's already been dispatched so what the hell can I do about it?

do you have a link/info about the deal btw? might come in handy when i'm presenting my case to paypal
