      I’m curious in this one, but can’t fathom it safely holding my phone while mountain biking, nor road… it definitely requires a durable case to begin with, then a tight squeeze, which rattling could wriggle it out no?

        I just have a $1 clear soft plastic cover on the phone, so the metal clamp does not scratch it.
        Phone is a few years old, so not worth a fortune, but good camera. Waterproof.

        New phone goes in my jersey pocket :-)

      Can vouch for the GUB type holders. All anodised aluminium, well made and finished.

      There are several GUB models, have the one with the thumbscrew in the middle of the “side clamping bar” so holding pressure on the phone is distributed evenly - works well.

      The cost alone should not be the sole criteria.

      It is constructed of rubber, soft foam and ABS shell, which do seem to be reasonable materials. However, the weak point is undoubtedly the ball and socket that allows angle adjustment. Even $100 holders that have this style of design will have the same weakness.

    Product review on eBay (assuming the product review and the actual item corresponds with one another) seem rather mixed.

      I had a look at your link, one of the 3 reviews was talking about a Yamaha keyboard!!! So that 2 star review would not count. The next review was questioning whether the rattling of the phone was detrimental. I own a similar bike phone holder to this one and the way to stop the phone rattling is putting in more or a thicker rubber pad that is permanently stuck to the holder (which would rest up against the bottom of the phone). This stops the phone from rattling, period. having a holder that covers all four corners means it's impossible for it to fall out. The only issue I have with mine is that as it is plastic when you flip your bike over to remove a wheel or maintenance etc the weight of the bike could break the phone holder due to being plastic.
