      • That's the part I should have mentioned why I wasn't baited in switching. The deal is not directly with PIA but through Socialstack (promotional discount).

Thanks for pointing it out and making it clearer for those who are tempted with this one off marketing deal.

        • My existing PIA account is a stack social deal, expires in 3 months. Anyone had luck getting stack social accounts merged? :D

          • +1

@Xizor: I also purchased my PIA account through StackSocial nearly 2 years ago. Fyeahm posted that to extend current PIA subscriptions we need to supply our seven or eight-digit PIA order Number that was sent in our payment confirmation email. I asked PIA what my PIA order number was and they sent this reply.

"As you are utilizing a gift card account, we do not offer invoices for these accounts, as these subscriptions are purchased through third party providers or payment processors. As such, I am afraid I am unable to provide you such a number."

So looks like the answer is no.

@ADEX7456: Read through the PIA theread on Whirlpool and from what I can gather two PIA accounts purchased through StackSocial can be merged.

I asked PIA what my PIA order number was and they sent this reply

Use your 16 digit License Codes found on StackSocial. To find them.
              1) Log into StackSocial.
              2) Under user name select Purchases.
              3) Find the PIA orders you wish to merge. Select Product Details.

There you will find you License Code for each of the registered PIA account you have redeemed through StackSocial. Use them to verify each account with PIA. Following opposablethumbs instructions.

              • @g12345567: Thanks fellas… ill give that a go! Gonna wait a few weeks before i setup the new account as we have 30 days to use the stacksocial code i believe.

              • @g12345567: Thanks for the info, will give it a whirl. Cheers!

  • One of the things i have found excellent about PIA is that they have all of the config files online - so you can configure away to your hearts content.
For me - on my computers i just use the standard client.
But on my router (Asus RT-AC66 running WRT) i was able to configure the OpenVPN client to connect to PIA servers (i normally connect to the Netherlands).
Then i can route certain traffic either through the port for that traffic (or the computers IP address) and if VPN connection gets dropped the connection gets dropped as well.
This is really good if you say only want to use the VPN for Netflix (or other video related traffic) but want to use the full speed for other traffic (say downloading updates for steam).

  • Firstly, thank you to the members for clarifying time frame offer.

In terms of torrenting/downloads on a Windows 10 PC, I've been using PIA (irrespective of the five eyes) for several years with no problems and great speeds. A lot of sites are blocked now anyways so you require a VPN to access. And it's really straightforward to install the client on your PC.

I find it really confusing the split tunneling of VPN on modems (I'm on Telstra NBN) and gave up when they geoblocked Netflix US on many devices (PS3, etc). Plus the number of subscriptions required and extra costs in USD is ridiculous now.

A lot of VPN sites say you can access Netflix USA/Amazon USA, etc but then have these complicated setups with bridging modems. I am fairly tech savvy but that was just too much.

  • I haven't renewed since there was no deal.

    This looks tasty.

Is VPN worth it anymore for privacy?

  • What great timing had 24 days left……. renewed for 2 years

  • How long is usually the wait time to receive your license?
Been waiting for over an hour

    • Took me less than a min. Check your spam?

      • I just realized my stupid mistake. I missed the part when you had to register an account with stack but before i realized that i already re attempted the order and now have 2 completed order both in limbo with an no licenses. Contacting support to see if i can cancel the double up order.

  • Just to add, this is a great VPN, fast, lots of countries, very nice client and stable.
Been using for 3 years or so.

  • $67.76 AUD via Paypal today

    • Fluctuating dollar. 3 years US$60 = AU$90.35

Also noticed StackSocial = 9to5Toys as that was where I purchased my previous 2 year PIA subscription and same login worked for this deal as does password recovery.

      • Same.

Used 9to5Toys, as got original PIA account through them & same exchange rate through Paypal on Mon. night.

Still about the cheapest annual price I've got so far for them & happy with service (no logs, 5 devices at a time, simple user-friendly implementation across multiple platforms).

Customer service pleasant to deal with & allowed me to stack on my existing account.

Set & forget for next few years :-).

    • 67.05 with Amex.

  • I remember there were some lifetime VPN subscription deals going on during last Black Friday.
Anyone knows if PIA has plan to offer this kind of deals?

    • +2

Unlikely, as is not a formula for maintaining a viable business.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, so the free or lifetime subscriptions usually come with a big compromise - e.g. speed, data volume, compromised security.

Heard that PIA had actually marginally increased prices recently, to ensure they could maintain level of service.

Happy to jump onto deals like this when they come up, but probably would've stumped up for a non-deal price when my subscription was next due as been a satisfied customer.

Move around a lot through a mix of public & private networks & simple, seamless implementation of PIA VPN gives me reasonable peace of mind for data security.

  • Still working..Thanks OP

  • Thanks! Just realised my account expired and needed a new one.

  • Does anyone have the 32 countries listing?

  • Deal expired now 3 year back up to 80 bucks

    • It's not expired atm

  • Anyone got NetFlix to work with PIA?

  • one of the best vpn for Aussies .. highly recommended

  • Still works, thanks.

  • Looks like still working..thanks.

  • Just purchased the deal myself through stacksocial. Very easy to redeem the 3 years through PIA, took about 5 mins.

It's still available for another 11 hours on stack social.

Of all the major VPNs, this is the best deal you can get by far in terms of value for money.
