Urghhh I really want a Matebook but too tight to spend so much. Seriously a good looking laptop!

      • +3

That's generally how it goes with a tech.

          Hopefully soon

Huawei is apparently rebranding its facilities to circumvent the ban. Wait for a new Chinese phone taking over the world in just few weeks.

          • @[Deactivated]: They could just split off Honor like ZTE did with Nubia.

            • -3

@Clear: Yes, I think you are right. I don't know how but this is good guess!

This guy again, commenting on every single Huawei deal LOL

        • -6

Deal? I haven't seen anything remotely assembling a deal from Huawei recently.

Visit ozbargain frequently. There are a lot of deals coming from Huawei in near future.

I bet he never used any Huawei phone, I think if any company will make US GOV afraid of it that means this company is already successful.

Lol to the Porsche Design model for $1999…

    • Lot of 'crazy rich asians' can afford to buy them.

    • +6

Seems a lot for a soon to be unsupported phone.

  • +5

It won't stop dropping . Thieves robbed a phone store and cleaned out everything elsewhere, but even they left the Huawei phones alone!

    • Thise thieves are not Chinese for sure. But they probably thinking the same way ppl got negged in this post.

  • Is Microsoft cutting ties with Huawei as well? Interested in getting the matebook.

Also is this the mac book x Pro or this is newer?

    • +6

The only thing Microsoft could do is stop supplying Huawei with Windows licenses. Licenses can be obtained legally through other channels so that wouldn't make a difference. Drivers would be supplied by the different hardware manufacturers.

      So really nothing will happen.

      • Oh that's good to hear thanks!

Lmao why the down votes people.. Just asking a legit question here…

        • Probably because it was already addressed above.

  • Matebook 13 is only $1043 in China. Needs a bigger discount here.

    • +5

Petrol is only 1 cent a litre in Venezuela. Needs a bigger discount here.

      • It is more a pricing strategy than a difference in shipping cost and tax, especially considering China's 17.5% GST. Basically, consumer electronics should sell at a similar price across the globe when excluding tax and tariff.

BTW, for Lenovo ThinkPad laptop, Australia price is almost always cheaper than that of Chinese (Chinese people call Lenovo: Lenovo with conscious for united state 'empire' as albeit being a Chinese company, Lenovo products in other countries, especially in the US, are often much cheaper than in China )

  • realistically, how much do people think the mate 20/pro, and p30/pro to drop in price?
probably going to buy one, but going to wait it out

    • +2

My guess is that the issues will be resolved within 6 months and all will be back to normal

    • +2

mate 20 probably at its lowest,it's only $545 if you can claim TRS.Currently listed for 3999rmb minus 200 cashback, approx $791aud on Huawei Official site in China.

p30 pro still very expensive.I rekon around $1100mark in a few month.8g/256g version approx $1250aud atm on Huawei official site in China.
I don't think it will go down to 500 as someone suggested on here,it still has a huge market in China which don't use google anyway,it's bad move to heavily discount newly released flagship model, unless it's closing down.

  • yeah buyers beware.. I would definitely not recommend anyone to buy Huawei product unless it's like 80% off or until the ban is over.

  • -1

If Huawei gets added to the blacklist (we will know in less than 90 days) prices could drop way below this. I'd rather not risk buying a potential paperweight.

    • I doubt price will drop way below this, relatively small market here,1.4 billion people in China and they don't use Google anyway, mate 20 price is actually a lot higher than this over there.I think it's a mix of EOFY sale plus retailer to get rid of excessive stock at close to cost price in short term during the ban,and mate 20 is almost a year old, even without the ban and ebay sale,it should be around $800 rrp anyway, just look at the price history of mate series.
if you search, only Australia has low price like this for mate 20.
