There are so many crappy clones of cloned clones players on the market, you know like all the tea, yoghurt, salad/pasta places you see everywhere? Yeah like that, clones.

Only 2 players are worth mentioning, poweramp and neutron.

If they don't satisfy you, literally nothing will, nothing.

Completely agree with you. Just installed this to see what it was like and the only option in settings is change wallpaper. Can't find any of my existing playlists and no option to exclude songs less than a certain length eg.Ringtones. I can't imagine anyone would ever pay $6 for this. Poweramp for me thanks

I find the Google Play Music app sufficient enough.

      • Yuck. That is the most basic and barebones player I've seen. I disable this app because I can't uninstall it. It just keeps coming back.

    • Worth adding PlayerPro to the list of good apps.

    • +2

Poweramp is what converted me from Apple to Android. It's EQ actually EQ's.

    • Agree, this app has multiple clones.

only 2 players are worth mentioning, poweramp and neutron

I would add vlc and pi

      • Music players

      • +1 for Pi. Very good music player

        • Pi has Ads and IAPs

    • Thanks, I've tried so many but never found one i was fully satisfied with but neutron looks the goods so far.

    • Do any of these work well as a car player or is there another way to do it? Would be nice to be able to skip track while driving without having to unlock the phone.

      • Every music player I have used gives you controls on the lock screen.

If you have Bluetooth in your car then you can use your cars music control buttons.

        • Sure they have controls but they are tiny. Need to hit power as well to bring them up.
Car has usb but not bluetooth unfortunately, connecting it via aux in.

I tried poweramp (turns up i owned the full version already from years ago). Swipe to change track is good, still the phone goes to sleep and you cant change tracks though.

I did find if you go into settings, lock screen. Turn on poweramp lock screen. Now when you hit the power button you get the ap, not your regular lock screen so you can swipe to change tracks. That's a good enough compromise. So i would just need to hit the power button and swipe to change tracks.

          • @Duff5000: I think you have found the best way to do it.

You could also use Google assistant to speak to your phone to change songs.

      • +1

use the android auto app - gives car suitable controls on the phone - android auto car not reuqired

    • I've heard good stuff from JetAudio and UAPP too.

    • +1

Vanilla music is good for a simple no bullshit music player.

    • +1

Mortplayer, foobar2000 and inline music player for folder players

Mortplayer being my favourite, it's the only one that's sorts files like a music app should

Sadly mortplayer and inline need updating and won't last forever

    • Poweramp is not good for audiobook/podcast listeners because it doesn't remember track position once you change to a different track and go back.

    • I'll try out Neutron. I find the Sony Music app to be quite good.

So this doesn't whip the Llamas ass?

    • +1

      I do miss those days.

  • WinAmp legend, why change the name and lose all that goodwill?

    • +2

Huh? This has nothing to do with the real winamp. Check the chinglish description. No way are they related.

The description doesn't even mention folder based browsing. My hopes are very very low for this one.

So I noticed after I delved a little deeper. Disappointed.

    who is that girl?

Seems OK to me. There's another app with the same name… I prefer the layout of this one.

    • Yes, it's a very imaginative name.

This app asks to get access to Contacts.
Yet when searching the Play Store there are 2 different apps with the same name?
There is a app maker called Allmusic which has a pro version but does not need access to contacts.
It virtually looks like the same program here and also currently has a price of $0.00 for a while.

    Is this the same app?
    https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tohsoft.mu…

Again, it looks like the as the post apps but does not ask for Contacts, go figure!

This "deal" app is probably a clone of the one you linked to

    • A music player should not need my phone and contact details. So its a neg from me.
Not just access Contacts. It wants to modify your contacts too.

      • Click on the link I put in my post above, its the same name, same player with only minor difference if you can find them.

But, the player in the link as in my post Does Not ask for access to Contacts.

        Check it out!

        • True. That is a paid version but it still wants you to stay clear:
          run at startup
          modify system settings
          send sticky broadcast
"App does not support downloading music, and not playing wma file format" but wants full internet access (so not just to read from Internet but to upload too).

Winamp OMG flashback OP! LOVE IT!

    happy with my PowerAMP :)

  • BlackPlayer EX works just fine for me.

  • I use AIMP on my PC & mobile

  • I just installed it to try it out. It's not very "Pro" at all. It's extremely basic actually.

Every time I install a new audio player I have to do extensive fiddling around in the settings to get them to do specifically what I need, which is not a complaint. Everyone has different needs.

This player's only settings in the menu is the background colour. WTF?
