    +1 for post effort.

One question though, in the features listed you state 15% gradient but then in the features table you say 20%. Which one is correct?

    • +2

Hey knobbs, the description was taken from Shopro and the table from another website. I've reached out to the rep to double check :)

Edit: Apparently Xiaomi don't like to claim a higher rating just in case of safety concerns. So in this case it seems like the official rating is 15%, but the "known" rating is 20% by reviewers, thanks for the pickup :)

    • It should be 20% according to mi.com

  • +1

Shame they arent legal in SA

    • Is it that model that's not legal ? Im only asking cause I was riding on an electric scooter there in Adelaide on Thursday - super fun and accepted by the cops - rode past one without issue.

I doubt they would pull you over to check model legalities - I think as long as you're not going too fast in built up areas , you would be fine.

      • +1

Was that one of the city hire scooters or your own private one?

    • +1

I ride mine around Adelaide, mainly the back street and stuff but if you have a helmet i doubt the cops will pick on you. If they do i'm going to argue that electric bicycles are basically the same thing for them to go jump haha

      • great to hear WilkyBoy, I plan on commuting to work which will take roughly 10mins on scooter. Also prepared to cop a fine.
I have one already on order from another seller (still waiting on shipment but i'm patient and he has provided me with follow ups)

but now considering this Gearbite deal for my wife… i paid roughly 615 after discounted giftcards and 10% code on a previous deal .. this deal will bring it down to $670ish for a second (using more 10% ebay cards/ and PAPPY) …. decisions.

        • Do you happen to know what the fine is off hand? I want to do this too, park on the edge of the parklands and scoot into the cbd.

          • +1

@pakkapie: Just paint it like the Lime scooters and youre onto a winner ;)

          • +1

            @pakkapie: https://www.mylicence.sa.gov.au/road-rules/e-scooter-trial

Rules above seem to apply for those within the designated areas of the trial.

            It does further add

Can I ride my own e-scooter?
You can only ride your privately owned scooter on private property - not on roads, footpaths or other public spaces. Otherwise, only e-scooters owned by the operator permitted by the City of Adelaide are to be used during this trial. If you are caught riding an e-scooter not approved for this trial you may be fined for driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle $1186.

I guess that would be super worse case scenario and I should hope officers use discretion if people are being responsible in their overall riding behaviour and safety equipment worn.

        • @vapingwinnieblues You said you used the 10% ebay cards…how do you feel not paying through Paypal? You get a cheaper product but you don't get the Paypal protection. I'm divided on this one…interested in your thoughts.

          • +1

@Tony555: Sorry didn't see your question. I must be missing something because the transaction still goes via Paypal just says you have saved xxx dollars with the order. I didn't realise you'd lose Paypal protection (if paying strictly with giftcards) I guess it boils down to a little risk. Xiaomi products have a decent reputation for quality and build so that too would probbaly lessen the risk that something could become faulty.

Scooter arrived 11/6 and Im really happy with the build quality. Feels like a quality product!

      • +1

electric bikes are also illegal though

        • +1

Not illegal if pedal assisted. So both have two wheels and batteries is what my arguement will be haha

      • the cops have better things to do than give the one person using the footpath a hard time

        • I would disagree with that

  • +11

Unless you absolutely need the extra range, the non-pro version is still the best value at $500 when on special. The pro inherits flaws like the folding mechanism, puncture-prone air-filled tyres, cumbersome shape and the pro is heavier to boot. If i were looking at spending more than $500 I’d go all the way up to $1k and get the Zoom Stryder EX. $1150 rrp, dual suspension, powerful motor and display as per the m365 pro, but it’s lighter and smaller, handlebars fold down, puncture proof wheels and charges in under 3 hours. 4 potential drawbacks however: same range as original m365, larger power brick, lacks disc brake and has slightly smaller wheels. Hope this helps someone when deciding.

    • Appreciate the info, cheers.

    • +2

For reference, I got a non-pro m365 a week ago and have found it both super convenient and fun. Ridden about 40km on it in 6 days, and I mostly work from home currently. If you're not sure if you'd use it or enjoy it, test ride some Lime scooters (if in Brisbane of course). Can confirm the M365 has noticeably better acceleration, top speed and uphill speed, and a bit smoother vs the Limes.

  • +2

I enjoy taking a gamble but when the fines are so exuberant and your in an area that's policed it's really hard to pull the trigger. What's the estimated time they'll be legalised in Melbourne anyone?

    • +2

5 days after the next solar eclipse.

  • +4

I'm not sure the Pro version is worth its value for 50% more than the $500 non-pro version.

    • on road for 2months
      totally worth it.

  • +7

I looked into this before purchasing the original M365, you're essentially paying 50% more (500->750) for a bigger battery which translates to about 25% more range, 2kg more weight, significantly longer charge time, and a display which you can purchase online for ~$30 and retrofit to the OG in minutes.

    • I'm interested in this display you mentioned, happen to have a link?

    • +1

I agree with everything except it's 80% more range, not 25% - not to mention it's ability to climb hills a lot better which with the original M365 at 50% battery or lower is a bit hopeless

      • +2

While the M365 was advertised at 30km range and the Pro is advertised at 45km, from all the actual real-world info that I've seen on Reddit/Youtube, it really only seemed to get ~25% more range than the non-Pro model.

  • +2

None have sold yet, I think if Gearbite drop below their competitors in pricing (on eBay) you'd get more bites. I'm still on the fence!

  • +2

Make sure you educate yourself on how much a fine costs if you get pinged by the popo. It will be more than what the scooter costs

  • +4

Anyone been “done” on one of these? (Wearing a helmet, being sensible).

    • nope. been using it regularly for about 6km return ride often in victoria. rode past several police cars.

    • Did that seriously deserve a downvote? Twat.

    • Why did he get down voted lol… Sounds like a legit question to me.

    • +8

Not yet, girlfriend seems pretty adamant that i dismount the scooter and take off my helmet before sex.

    • Nope. I've clocked 400km on my M365 in Melbourne, commuting from Brunswick to the CBD every day there hasn't been rain on the forecast for the last few months. Even scooted past cops on Swanston Street etc while in the bike lane. They don't seem to care. Having said that, for about a week the cops were hanging out on the corner of Alexander and Canning in Carlton, right on the bike path holding clipboards. I didn't risk passing them, each time I saw them in the distance I altered course. Although I suspect they were just looking for bikes without helmets but who knows.

  • Is this legal in Victoria? Thank you.

    • +10

      no, pleasure.

    • These guys have been running in St Kilda since December software modding their scooters to a max 10km/h.

    • +1

      If your motorised scooter:

      • is powered by a petrol motor
      • has an electric motor with a maximum power greater than 200 watts
      • has a maximum speed greater than 10 km/h

then it cannot be legally used on a road or any road related areas, including footpaths, share paths and public areas. The fine for an illegal device is $826. Other penalties may also apply.

      • +2

Utterly ridiculous law/s. Tell me how these things are less dangerous than bike riders going flat out at 50-60 km/h?
If you've got a helmet (basic safety gear) there is no reason for these to be allowed! And it will minimise traffic!!

        • Yeah its total BS, only reason I haven't purchased this yet. I cant afford the fine lol

  • +3

Ordered mine when Woolies had the eBay giftcard promo on. Effectively paid 620 in combination with 15% off eBay promo.
For extra 120 bucks over the non pro model it was a no brainer.

Not sure I would fork out extra 250 for it unless extra range is a must for your needs.

  • +1

Thanks OP. I've been eyeing off an escooter for a while now. Seen a lot of eBay's with 0 feedback selling standard m365 for$400. Didn't want to lose money and time on the chance of getting a bargain

    • +1

Careful, the ones in that price bracket are often not genuine but might say they are made in the same factory in the description… they also seem to bundle them with a Xiaomi fitness band, which is the only genuine Xiaomi product in the deal…

  • ninebot max via indiegogo is cheaper and more power …

    • +3

      Currently 5479 HKD Delivered = $1,004 AUD?

      • $4,702.00HKD = 862.37 according to what I see

  • +3

I own a m365 myself, living in Brisbane. Absolutely love it for the price. I was one of the early adopters when it first started appearing on OzBargain so paid lot more than it's value today. No regrets, especially when you are closer to city/work.

There are a few things that are not great on the m365, however there is a great community on Fb to help you out and as long as you maintain it well, should have no issues.

That said, I would think more than twice to get the pro for this price. Depends on each individual's needs.

    • yep the standard m365 is what I have and it's awesome for very short trips save for some battery sag when nearing 25% battery

what I like is the huge modding community and massive availability of cheap parts and third party upgrades .
upgraded my ,365 dash and basically everything else from slimed tyres, siliconed innards, to base plate and fender guards and it's perfect.

      • +1

Siliconed innards? Upgraded dash? Pls elaborate! Thinking of grabbing a rear fender guard. Did you just get a 3D printed one off ebay or…? What about that front hook/latch bit on the hinge that looks flimsy af haha?

        • Are you on the facebook group that has about 18k members in it? Should be able to find it easily there.

          • @polarq: Had a look in that group but it’s endless shitposting and people talking about putting bigger wheels on lol, nothing useful.

        • @bohdud
not the only listing so check others for cheaper price but https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Replace-For-Xiaomi-M365-Pro-Elec…? instructions in most descriptions etc, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziLvjx0HCaw details in description there .

also threw some small foam strips inside the under cover to keep battery firmly in place then put this on top https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Reinforced-Bottom-Battery-Protec…? so it's easier to clean and a little stronger

          • +1

@ndftz: Sweet, cheers! was confused as to which aftermarket parts I should get. Finally found the search function within the FB group lol. I also ordered a rear fender support as I have felt the thing bouncing all over the place and currently have a little bit of milk-bottle plastic screwed in place as a makeshift guard. Quick question - with the aftermarket metal plate over the battery, do you still leave the stock plastic plate in there under the metal plate, or remove the original one and replace it with the metal one?

            • +1

@eggboi: Yep leave the plastic on

I also applied silicone sealant around it when I screwed the plastic bit shut just incase of big puddles or rain. Have done many soggy trips in the thing with no issue now

own M365 Pro for 2 months, delivered from China.
Similar price than this (2999RMB+427RMB deliver fee to Gold Coast)
Everything perfect, just a bit heavy.

    • Can you please share the link?

      • Chinese website, better buy here with warranty

  • This isn't the best price. I got mine from this same retailer for $665 delivered.

    • +3

The Global Version Pro model, from Gearbite? I don't believe so..

      • One other commenter recalled that they bought with discount eBay cards

      • +2

https://imgur.com/a/scP1zuK I used a %20 off code - this was the original post https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/453421 - People were saying too cheap for the pro version. but i pulled the trigger and can confirm it is legit.

        • +3

That is not Gearbite, nor is that the global version..

I guess you didn't read my comment whatsoever, lol.

          • +1

@doweyy: What's the difference between Global version and whatever the other version is called?

            • +1

@keejoonc: The global version comes with an AU plug, English manual and English text on the OLED screen. The Chinese version comes with all of those items but in chinese.

Alongside this, Gearbite have been around for a lot longer and would be a lot better for warranty claims in my opinion.

            • @keejoonc: Thanks for following up on on your comment replies!

          • @doweyy: Ok, So it wasn't Gearbite my bad! But it 100% is the international version. The manual is all in chinese. ALl the stickers and warning labels too. They just included a power adapter. It was also shipped from Sydney. Which guarantees local warranty.

    • Usually nice to post the when and how so people don't have to ask

  • My hunch is 12 months later we'll still have these deals but it still don't be legal to ride one.

  • +2

I would add that, as a frequent user of my m365, you should not worry that there is no "suspension" as the pneumatic tyres ride extremely well. In my experience, FAR softer and better, with better grip, than the solid tyres + suspension on the ninebots (lime scooters in AU/NZ). You really notice how poor the grip is and how hard the Lime ones ride after you ride an m365

    • yeah but the lime suspension is a joke. there is a token dampener on the front wheel and nothing on the back. a dual suspension setup like the zoom stryder with decent travel would be great. love the large-ish wheels on the m365 though.

      • fair call, I wonder if the consumer ES2 suspension is way better than the lime ones.

        • Not a huge amount better. I would say the limes have harder springs simply cos they need to cop more wear n tear. The es2 is not quite as smooth as the m365 (tested them both) but then you can’t get punctures. no perfect option, personal preference. First time i tried a lime i was riding on a relatively smooth path and felt like i might go flying it was so bumpy haha

    • That is true, soft tyres perform much better than ES suspension.

  • Not sure where to ask but for those who have either model what apps are ya'll using? if any?
