  • Am I missing something here?

Digital Cinema: Current Model, $99 $899.
Amazon US: Discontinued by Manufacturer, 2007 verified purchaser paid US$100.

Yes as before they must have found a pallet load of NOS speakers ('new old stock').

These look like good rear channel speakers.

    • JBL Arena 130’s are also $899. Hard to believe these or the other recent $99 speakers were previously the same price.

    • Speaker design doesn't change much and general carry on for 7-10+ years. It's not like they release a new model every year

      • +1

My point is DC's claim that this is a current model with an original price of $899, while Amazon US said this was a discontinued model with a price of US$100 back in its heyday in 2007.

    • Agreed, I also read a forum post that said some guy picked some up off eBay for 36 bucks in 2007. That's not a resale price for an 800 buck speaker (pair).

  • Would these be good to put on a desk and use with computer for general music/netflix viewing?

    • with an amp only… these are passive speakers.

      • I realise that, I meant size wise & sound wise (seeing as reviews are saying they are designed to be part of surround sound setup)

  • +1

yup, I'm interested in knowing that too, I.e. whether they would be good bookshelf speakers

    • +1

      They are suitable as bookshelves

  • +1

Any good entry level apm for these?

  • Hi OP can you do another deal for JBL venue monitor speakers again?

  • +1

"…ideal for front, bookshelf or rear surround channel sound."
Take this with a grain of salt as I can't confirm it, but aren't these primarily designed to be space-saving rear speakers, ideally mounted against a wall to make up for the smaller cabinet? The description on Amazon says that almost exactly.
Not saying they won't be good speakers for those other uses but seems odd to not only omit that but state they're "ideal for front and bookshelf use".

I can give you a code which will increase the price to $399.

      • -5

Lol you can apply the code to decrease the "original price" to 399

  • Will these speakers have deteriorated over time being an old model?

The reason I ask is that I had some Dantax speakers in storage and when I got them out the woofers were disintegrating. Had to throw them out.
