[NSW] Free Heattech Garments 14/6 @ Uniqlo Pop-Up Store, Martin Place

1680

While the temperature has inched up a couple of degrees since last week's cold snap, there's no doubt winter is lurking. To help us stay warm for what's bound to be a chilly couple of months, Japanese retailer Uniqlo is giving away garments made from its fancy Heattech fabric, for free.

Between 7am and 7pm this Friday June 14, head to Martin Place, where you won't be able to miss a giant Uniqlo T-shirt installation. Pop inside to have a thermal Polaroid taken, which will be printed with a unique code. Take it in to Uniqlo in the MidCity Centre shopping mall and redeem it for a free Heatteach item.

The range is designed to help your body generate heat and retain it, keeping you cosy whether you're in the snow or strolling Sydney's streets. It includes long-sleeve tees, singlets, leggings and tights.

Uniqlo's Martin Place installation will pop up from 7am to 7pm on Friday June 14.

Probably need the city information in the title.

    • -5

Its the only city that matters…

  • +3

Going to be a lot of pictures of warm loins.

    • They will most likely also be moist

      • +1

That won't be shown in a thermal photo though.

  • +1

    41/6 or 14/6?

    • Available in 41 Men's and 6 Women's.

  • -3

their heat tech aren't that warm, my gf and I bought both long sleeves and pants to wear as inner layers; they dont prove to be effective.

    • +2

I'm pretty warm in my heat tech

    • You can't compare with thick inner layers. However for the same thinness I found them to be warmer than the others.
They do have Heattech Extra Warm and Ultra Warm, which I haven't tried yet. Possibly slightly thicker and denser.

      • We bought the "Extra warm" and yeah that's what we find

        • Bought the Ultra Warm long sleeve and wore it under my hoodie with regular thin trackies. Was 10 degrees in Melbourne and friends were telling me they were cold, to which I replied: "I wouldn't know"

    • I find them to be excellent. Buy heattech Ultra as it is thicker than normal one.

    • +1

Their super/ultra warm are much better base layers for cold cold days, for warmer days (eg today in SYD) the normal heattech is great

    • +3

Heat Tech is weight for weight one of the best heat retaining garments.
Pretty much only merino wool is better, but it's also a lot more expensive and requires much more maintenance.

  • I’ll be attending :)

  • +3

Will no doubt get negged for this but I found any of these cheap thermals that aren't Merino Wool to be a waste of $$ better off buying a decent one.

    • +1

Aldi ones are cheap and still good.. definitely no 100% wool (or even any?) though but material good enough to keep warm.

      • Any under garment will be better than nothing but for really cold days the cheap stuff doesn't cut it.

        • hmm… just wonder you only wear under but no jacket/top ? sounds a bit weird tho LoL

        • Aldi ones aren't cheap in the first place.

    • +6

I have had heat tech for at least 10 years and the old ones are still going strong! Only ever bought new ones because of styles and colors. Never went back to any other beand

      • 10 years! How did you manage to get them to last so long? I've bought the normal ones, extra warm and ultra warm, and they all stretched after 2 or 3 years. Not as warm as they used to be now

        • +1

I don't wear it that often since it's not that cold… but I always washed them in wash bags. Used to wear them when I was overseas living in a country that snowed in winter.. .

          • @45rpm: Thanks for the tip! I'll wash them in wash bags from now on :)

    • you missed the alexander wang heatechs, didn't sell so they were $5 - $20 depending on the item.

  • +2

I wonder how long the line will be…

    • +2

      No doubt long
Get there at 630am to secure your heat tech!

  • +9

Will they let homeless people in? I hope so but doubt it.

    • Doubt it

    • +5

You could always gift them your free heattech.

  • Will be there at 6:30am

    • Username checks out.

  • So I wonder if it's just any Heattech item..

    • They did a big giveaway a couple of years ago. On that occasion you could choose from crew or v-necked t-shirts or women's singlets.

  • +1

Please update to us on how the queue is like.

  • +12

The line has now started forming. Less than 10 currently. What am I doing with my life…

    • +2

What you're doing is entertaining those of us still in our warm beds. Keep us updated.

      • +3

Well here's a photo of the installation to show that I actually am here. The sun is coming up now which is nice. It was still pitch dark 20 min ago.

        https://imgur.com/rghBXZm

6:52 now and the line is probably around 80 people.

        • How long did you have to wait for? Did you have to register to limit one per person?

          • @jowie: I got there at around 6:23. (I'm normally in the city at that time anyway.) No registration required.

  • -2

So it’s opened between 7-7. What’s stopping someone from claiming multiple heattech throughout the day? Do you need to register your details?

    • +3

So… are you currently living up to your name?

    • What's stopping people?
      1. It would be against the terms & conditions, don't be greedy and ruin it for everyone else waiting in line
      2. You would have to join the queue again, which will have an average of 100+ people at any time

      • At the queue length it feels like even those who claim multiple will only be able to claim 2 maximum!

  • +1

Line is not too long but it’s freezing right now

  • -4

Do u think it will have teens sizes

  • +1

Thanks OP, will head there around 9:30am and will post a comment here to update on queue status

  • +6

Queue is about 100 people now

    • How fast is the queue moving?

    • +5

It's on average about 30 seconds per person through the queue. Queue is around 200 now

      • Given the CBD location, I am assuming (hoping) they would have enough staff on site so that they dont pi*s people off with long wait times, turning away hundreds of potential customers..

        • It looks like they are having technical issues with the camera. Queue is stalled now

          • @forumninja: Printer issues actually

          • @forumninja: Queue is moving again. No photos are being taken. Around 10 seconds person.

            • +1

@forumninja: At this queue length expect around 45min-1hr wait

              • @forumninja: Queue is around 300 now

                • @forumninja: Still an hour wait? Wtf I am skipping this if true

                  • @first in line: Name doesn't check out. Rate is slower at 45 seconds per person

                    • @forumninja: Did they fix the printer?

                      • @notYuna: Yes, which means people now have to wait longer. It's around 60 seconds per person now. People joining the queue now will have to wait a few hours

                        • @forumninja: Queue around 400 now. At this rate I don't understand why people are still joining.

                          • @forumninja: Officially they are saying 30 seconds per person. I timed the rate it is more around 45 seconds. Queue is at 500 now. expect 4 hour wait if you join the queue now

  • +1

I just got my photo done. The card says you can use it on an item valued at $19.90 until 6pm 17th June.

    • +3

That amount means you cannot claim any heattech garment (some up to $39 in store)

Daily Telegraph reported that UNIQLO was giving away vouchers for any item from the heattech range :(

      • Most heattech are under 19.90$ this week, only pants are above.

    • Here's a photo of the back of said card: http://imgur.com/jsWwSPT

I'm a bit worried that they won't have any stock when I go in to get my item. Lol

  • +1

Well since they have printing issues they are just handing out the cards after u walk thru the heat tech stand.

  • How long did everyone wait?

    • I got here about 6:45 or so. The photos are working now.

      • Are they still printing them upsidedown?

  • Omg even school students are queuing for this?

  • Queue is massive. Don’t bother!

    https://i.imgur.com/uAGAv2r.jpg

    • Yeah it's about 600 people. They will be there until lunch time.

    • -1

      Imgur link wouldn’t open. Ozbargained

  • How long is the wait

    • +2

      5 hours

      • +1

I'm guessing most people are from OzBargain 😂

        • +1

          500% uni students

  • +8

For most people, it wouldn't make economic sense to queue. Assuming that the wait time is an hour. You're pretty much making $20/hr. I suspect most people in the queue are corporate types earning atleast $27/hr.

You're better off going to work now, getting a Uniqlo garment at lunch and having the $5 double bacon & beef meal at maccas.

At the end of the day, you'll still be $2 ahead of people who queued.

    • +1

Even for people on minimum wage shouldn't be queuing at this point. At $19.90 off, assuming if you even pay tax at the highest tax bracket is around 2 hours of work.

      • I once lined up 3 nights for a pair of shoes

      • You could do work on your mobile device while queueing…or be a zombie if that pays you more in satisfaction…

    • +1

Free is free. No matter the cost.

  • Anyone got a video of the line from beginning to end?

  • I've got another hr or so before my turn. Seems like the end of the 2hr-ish line isn't growing much.. people must give up after being told its a 2hrs wait from where they are

  • +1

Queue is looping around Martin Place…huge!

Could be 500 or so people.

  • +3

Now it's after 9, will keep eye on posts about stock levels in store and the crazy queues..lol

    • +2

Can anyone who has the coupon say whether it has to be redeemed today?

      • until 17

      • I posted the conditions of use above. You need to use it by Monday 6pm.

  • How is the queue now and what at rate is the wait?

    • +2

Looks like a 3 hour queue (just left 10 mins ago)

  • Can anyone comment on the experience at Uniqlo itself?

    • +2

I went in store just after 10am. It was not busy at all.. maybe about 8 people at checkout with about 5 of them with promo. Maybe everyone waiting to go during lunch or after work.

      • +2

They are all still in the Martin Place queue :p

  • +3

Queue still looping around. Line isn't moving. I don't understand how all these people are waiting for this. How much do these things to for usually?
