  • Anybody know if I can cancel my membership after one month?

    • I don't see why not, but you're only saving the $55 sign up fee and you'll have a few days to wait until you can access services.

      • I think 24 hours

      • A trip is coming up soon, so thought maybe I can use it or a month just in case. But what if its a binding 12 months contract.

        • Shouldn't be, but you'll know if you click through. They're not going to trick you into a contract.

@Soapdroid: it says 12 month term, so would that not mean it is a 12 month contract?

            • @lknight: You're absolutely right. Pretty strange. I'm with RAA and there's no fee to join, I pay month to month, and there's no minimum term. I actually wanted to pay annually, but there's no difference or discount for doing so, so I decided not to.

  • Please confirm if this is for NSW only.I think it is.

NRMA is NSW based, but there is some reciprocal cover for other states AFAIK

      • I got this when I put in an SA address

Why do they need a joining fee to begin with. Sound like a crock of shite to begin with.. who do they think they are. Costco

  • $55 membership for what?
What benefit if you only take the membership?
    Sounds like a gym membership

  • Perhaps put the product in the title, NRMA offers various services, not just roadside assist.

Guys, don't use NRMA, use this instead

It says its expire but it still works - $69 for 12 months. I've used them before and they are great.

A matter afact, all roadside assistance are the same, they use the same contractors.

    • Thanks. I thought you get those blue NRMA trucks though?

    • Nevermind. Cars over 15 years old not covered.

And like my insurance company Budget Direct, they look at the existing kilometres.

I think for old heavy vehicle (up to 4 tonne GVM) like mine, ugot for just towing at $95 for under 10 km is the most straightforward for same day towing. Roadside assistance has bonuses though so I forked out $110 in this case and will wait 48 hrs.

  • If you know your battery is good do the mechanics do any other tests to determine why a car won't start? In my old car's case: ignition, carburetor (!) and fuel pump/lines/pressure, starter. Or is it pretty much battery good, not myproblem, call tow truck. I like foreknowledge before mechanics take my car hostage.
