These are really nice pens. Easy to write with.

  • I use This pen at work and pretty happy with it however some of the refills didn't write as well. Skipping

  • +3

I loved the feel of these xiaomi pens but found the ink a bit scratchy and doesn't work so well after a while

    • This. I don't understand why people get so hyped about this pen, it really performs rather poorly.

      • I have the metal and plastic versions.

The plastic ones seem to have better ink refills.

  • +7

I absolutely love the feel of this pen.
The shell is just perfect: a little bit matte for extra grip, thickness just right, and great weight.
But the pen writes like shit :( the ink is scratchy and skips, and takes too long to dry.
    :'(
I wonder if you could fit a different refill? Has anyone tried?

    • If you get the metal version (silver/gold), they have far smoother refills. I've been using them for the past couple of years and they're amazing. No leaking/scratchiness, but still takes a few seconds to dry.

      • so the refill of this pen will not fit the gold/silver pen?

Also what other non xiaomi refill brands can we use?

        • +1

Correct - these refills won't work with the silver/gold pen. I remember reading that the silver/gold pens use Parker refills, but will have to find a source.

          EDIT: See here.

          • @donnot: That is incorrect. The refills for white, silver and gold are one and the same

The link you posted shows two different pen models

            • +2

@customundo: I own both - the white refills are most definitely different to the ones for the silver/gold pens and don't fit. The white refills have a transparent plastic area near the nib showing the ink while the silver/gold don't (amongst sizing/other design differences). First image is of the silver refills, second of the white: https://imgur.com/a/5YwqNeX

              • @donnot: Ah gotcha. You're right just double checked my white refills and they are different to the silver version

              • @donnot: Can confirm. Aluminium ones are a slightly different model to the white plastic ones, use different (better) refills, and seem to have a slightly different opening mechanism too. No inconsistently/skipping so far and it may be a little smoother than the plastic ones too.

    • Same boat. Haven't personally tried other refills but I've read that there are good options available for both Mijas. Supposedly the aluminium ones use "Parker styled" refills that are vastly superior. I should have one arriving this week so I'll update.

Cons: This pen is definitively not for writing. It's not smooth, extremely rough in writing and you basically not write or study with this pen.
It's not mentioning the matte white coating make it extremely easy to get dirt and mark… you took more time to clean it than to use it.

Pros: good built quality, sturdy in hand, enough weight and pieces are in place nicely firmed.

I would not recommend. Only if you use it as it is supposed to be (in the title): to sign !

    • does the refill work in other xiaomi pens like the gold one?

Also can you use other refill brands and what brands would fit this pen?

      • Sorry, I've never used up 3 included refill so have no idea. I got the white version

    • Cons: This pen is definitively not for writing. It's not smooth, extremely rough in writing and you basically not write or study with this pen.

What should it be used for? Drawing?

  • +4

These pens are crap, the design is nice but they can't even write properly

    • +3

Yep I got two and they feel great and have quality feel too them. But they just write like dogshit. I find it's too fine and digs at the paper.

  • +3

They feel good but they're shit and don't last long. The ink is bad.

  • +2

Good to hold, bad to write with. Never buying again.

    • You're not an Ozbargainer until you've owned at least one of these.

  • +3

I don't get ozb obsession with this pen, I find it a bit too scratchy and definitely not worth paying for at all.
Hotel freebie pens whole lot better.

  • As mentioned this is a sing pen . So if you intend to use occasionally then thats ok It feels good to hold . But for long writing this aint the pen you would be eyeing on.

    • +1

      sing pen

No wonder Delta sounds a bit scratchy.

      • oops good catch

  • I used to like this pen, but then tried the MUJI 0.38mm one and wow, so much better!

  • Anyone know if the "Global" version of the Xiaomi Band 4 supports NFC?

    • +1

This one does not have NFC.

  • Thanks OP, bought the miband

  • I found this pen great and had no issues with the smoothness of the writing.

  • Very scratchy ink, and haven’t been able to find blue either. Not a fan of black ink

  • What's the difference between the Chinese and the global version? I purchased a Chinese version last week for significantly less because I've read once you sync it then it runs in English anyway.

    • Do you know if Chinese version is compatible with English refills?

    • The Chinese one has NFC, so it can be used for Alipay and we pay. Also it can be used to support the home ecosystem but only in Chinese. Because they need to use space for the NFC, the battery capacity is marginally less.

      • actually as someone pointed out this to me..

        there is 3 version

        chinese/intl without NFC
        chinese with NFC.

The ones that were sold last week had no NFC.

  • +1

I'll chime in too. The pen is good to hold but the refills are crap. The metal version of the pen uses Parker style refills, this one uses some proprietary style.

  • Thx OP got the Mi Band

  • Good feel to pen grip but experience ink skipping sometimes.

  • Pen is great to hold and writes well but I found the spell-check function is not working and no band 28!!!

    • Need software update for that.

  • had this pen a while, if you use it regularly its pretty good. if it sits around for a while the ink won't flow as well and becomes unusable. I have tried a few refills and they work great at the start, but once you leave it sitting around for more than a week or so it will just become blotchy/scratchy.

+1 paper mate inkjoy!! can get them 1/2 price @ WW/Coles every so often, very nice ink and flow!

  • Thanks op got the mi band.

  • I am trying to purchase the Mi Band, but constantly getting the message ‘This code cannot be applied to your order’. I’ve not used the code previously. Others don’t appear to be having a problem. Any ideas?

    • Solved! Thanks Gearbite rep

  • Thanks OP, got the Mi Band 4. Daughter number 1 gets my Band 3 now!

  • Mi Band 4 arrived today. Dispay is soooooo much better, brighter and clearer than Band 2. Very happy!
