    Samsung S2 1TB portable HDD for 99 dollars in the Good guys. I will be sticking to that.
    I have been using Seagate, lets see, if samsung are also that reliable.

    Bought a Seagate 500gig portable and a 3.5 1Terabye HDD 4 months ago. Now the 3.5 died for no reason, was using it for PS3 backups and movies now the portable is showing sign of problems. I know they offered 3 years warranty but I though it was the external case that was stuffed not the HDD itself, so I opened it up and placed it in my PC but sadly the HDD was DEAD.. :( Ill stay away from Seagate from now on ..

      External drives are generally more likely to fail than internal ones due to the fact that they are portable and can be knocked/moved during operation.
