  • These SSDs any good for storing and playing games?

    • +1

yes, any SSD would be great. difference between this and higher end SSDs are probably around 1 second longer loading time. this is great value for 1 TB.

      • Looking to buy the 500gb one would you say that's good value or should I invest more in a better SSD? budget is $100 btw.

        • +1

of course. 500GB may allow u to keep ~5 instances of modern AAA titles on your desktop. 1TB would allow double of that.
if u have a secondary spinning HDD you can use steam to move a game to this when SSD is full, that way you don't have to re-download the game if you want to play it in future.
is your current OS drive a spinning HDD?

        • Personally I would spend a bit more if you cared about longevity.

Costs more manufacture with good parts. Its cheap for a reason.

      • that and shorter warranty instead of say the mx series

    • Yes, bx doesn't have built in encryption ….so unless you encrypt your data it's fine.

      • I don't encrypt my data but I will be using this drive for steam games anyway so should I really worry about that?

        • +2

          Nope, no worries there

      • +1

To be honest the encryption drive manufacturers include isn't great.

        https://www.tomshardware.com/news/crucial-samsung-ssd-encryp…

hackers could easily bypass the encryption on Crucial and Samsung SSDs without the user’s passwords

$15 postage kills the deal for non ebay plus. Good price otherwise

    • Free trial

      • I've had 2 free trials of plus already lol

        • +2

          … So one more won't hurt :)

          • @bargaino: Are they still letting free trials happen on existing accounts that have trialed it before?

            • +1

@scottySK: no… but your friend hasn’t tried it yet ;)

      • +4

Not having ebay plus or prime saves me a lot.

  • +1

BX500 is great for a Steam library (once it's already loaded on) but if the price difference to the MX500 or a Samsung 860 Evo isn't much, it might be worth spending a bit more for that sustained write performance. That being said, $120 for 1TB of SSD reads is great.

    • +3

Exactly - I'd say sustained writes are probably the least important metric for most normal users. Random read, random write and sustained read are all much more important. The benefit of SSDs aren't their higher throughput, but lower seek times.

  • fck me paid $160 for 1TB 2 months ago

    Thanking you.

      you are welcomed

I ordered one of these on the deal least weekend from the same seller.
It doesn’t seem to be coming from Sydney as the listing suggests, the Australia post tracking hasn’t even logged item received yet, but they ‘posted’ it on Tuesday.

    • +1

      Hi

If you can PM me with you order details, I might be able to help

      cheers

      • +1

Rep, any chance on a restock on the 480 @ this price again soon? I'm sure plenty are interested.

    • Did you receive yours in the end? I ordered the 1TB MX500 on Sunday. Hoping to get it tomorrow so I can put it in my laptop on the weekend!

      • Got it today, yay :)

  • +1

    Got one OP. Thanks!

  • 480GB all gone

  • -1

The 960GB is only a $10 discount because of their overpriced listing….

  • +1

I ordered this a few weeks back and put it in my ps4 slim (960gb) and it’s just worked smooth and seamlessly ever since

  • +1

    Just bought one. Thank you!
