    It was $2 last time….

    • That deal is awesome, but I guess it never comes back :)

  • Any recommendations for VW 507 00?

    • +1

I wait till it's on sale, but it's few and far between.

Try HiTec oils, they are reasonably priced and maybe try an independent parts store. My local always does his best and another says they will not be beaten on price.

    • I was told 507 is compatible with 502/505

      • +1

        Backwards compatible.

If you need 504/507, then 502/505 ain't going to cut it.

        • 504/507 is for long service interval in europe right. Since ours is short interval anyway, several sources told me 502/505 is okay.

          • +1

            @rave75: 12mth/15k is short interval?

            • @nafe: Yes. In Europe the LL castrol edge is used for 30k interval oil change. For VW diesel you have to use 504/507, for petrol 502/505 is okay (from what I gathered from several mechanics, VW village is one of them)

              • @rave75: Given what is recommended for the car, I would stick with that. I can't think of any circumstances where I wouldn't change the oil for 30k….ever.

I remember it was $30 last year!

    • Yeah came where to just comment that. You beat me to it.

Good timing. I was just about to nick down to Repco, who have it on special for $44.00. Thanks!

Joint their membership can take 10% off. Buy Supercheap gift card can take 8% off.

      • Thanks! I keep forgetting about Supercheap giftcards.
Lots of affiliate memberships have access to those and I never remember to use them.

        • Can you use sca gift card to purchase sale items aswell

          • @ATTS: Definitely!

It allowed it on the online payment screen no problem in the past.
I get these cards for Birthday and Christmas all the time, never an issue.

            • @UFO: oh i see, thanks

      • How long supercheap gift card last before expiry?

        • 3 years (36 months).

But I buy from Supercheap a hell of a lot more frequently than that!
Ignoring extras, even if you just get oil and oil filters twice per year when on sale, $100 will go in 18 months.
With their occasional 50% sales, it's under 12 months easy.

I try to remember to buy my vouchers $200 at a time (discounted through an affiliate membership I have at 7.5%), but if something big is on the horizon I'll buy more. But I sometimes forget when its a quick snap purchase on their sales!

3 years is stacks of time to spend it, believe me.

          • @UFO: oh i see, thanks

      • Membership 10% off doesn't appear to be stackable with this 50% off deal. Asked for it in store and didn't get it, didn't get it online either.

        edit: McGraths Hill, NSW store

      • Noob question: How do I get 10% off?
I only see "Pay $5 membership and get $10 credit"

What's the reference for this? Is there a new catalogue coming?

I'm hanging for the neon toolpro chests to go sub $600 again! My local reckons around Christmas but I've been keeping an eye since.

As for the oil, I still have 2 of these leftover (out of 4) from previous ~$30 and the $2 deals.

    • Just so you know, the Neons are end of life; so don't wait too long and miss them for the sake of $50 or some such.

I however got the toolpro EDGE series and am LOVING them.

      • They WERE EOL but only when the new edge line came in. They're actually still stocking them like any other item according to my local SCA. Go figure. shrugs

In my opinion, the edge stuff doesn't come close, they're super flimsy in comparison. They might be alright for the average DIYer but for something a bit longer lasting/heavy user, you need sturdy and well built tool cases - hence why I'll wait or end up getting something else altogether, I'm not currently screaming for storage so it can definitely wait.

Anyone know if there is a deal for the Castrol Edge LL? I need the VW 504 compliant oil

  • Is this oil good for high mileage engine, is synthetic oil not good in terms of engine leaks on old engines with deteriorating seals?

  • Any idea if this will be compatible with my VW Jetta 2012 2.0 TSI?

    • No. Technically you need the LL oil 504/507 spec. On special it drops to $52 - $57.

  • I have 5 new Castrol Magnatec motor oil 10W-40 from my old car (now sold). Should I sell them on ebay or better way to get rid of them?

  • Will this be compatible with my Tesla Model X? Thanks

    • Yes, pour this over your Tesla and it will protect it from rust

    Great timing, thanks!

  • that's pretty good price, my dad told me it's around 70-80 bucks normally so I showed him this and he told me to get 5 lol. is there limit per customer?

    • usually 2 per customer… u and your dad = 2 person = 4 bottles per SCA shop… how many SCA outlets near your residence?

      • I'm going alone sadly. And not gonna hunt around lol. I guess just 2 then. Thanks anyway :)

  • not bad but my next oil change will be a summer oil, so ill need 10w30
might get it for next winter

  • My car needs 6.5L, do most people buy 2 or just get 1 and have the mechanic top up the rest with the same oil? Have checked and the use the same one.
