This is a network mesh router to save you a click if unsure.

    • Thanks, I was actually wondering.

    • Wtf is a Network mesh router?

      Thanks for saving the clic

  • I'm waiting for the 1 pack mesh.

    /s

  • Can buy 2 packs and connect together?

    • Yes, up to 6 of them

  • Anyone in Melbourne interested in going halves on an MW6 double pack?

I want one MW6 to go with my existing MW3 units to upgrade it to 1Gbit hard wired.

    • inboxed you

    • Im in keysborough, happy to buy a 1x mw6 also

      • Thanks but already organised it with bogzy.

        Cheers,

    • so how did this work out for you? with the mixed mesh network are you getting higher throughput?

      • Yeah I haven't done any exhaustive tests but copying a file from a laptop on 5GHZ to my NAS used to be capped at 100mb on the MW3 (obviously) and now I can hit a peak of about 500mb. So not saturating the 1gbit connection but happy with that.

The MW3 and MW6 mesh up together without issues

        • thats great to read, think i'll give it a try.. great idea - didn't even occur to me

  • I thought this was a subwoofer. Then I wondered why subs come in 2 packs.

  • Couple of tests: here and here show the MW6 competes very similarly to the Google Wifi set up (also shows MW3 is considerably weaker signal wise).

    • Contradiction:

In my opinion Tp-Link Deco M5 is better than MW3 or MW6.

      • +1

The Deco M5 is also > 3X the price of the MW3…

        • Compare features as well & also with premium devices as well. That's cheapest best option compare to premium mesh devices

  • I got the MW3 recently, tried setting it up with some smart home devices which require the phone to be connected to 2.4ghz to set them up.
There is a setting in the Tenda app which lets you force 2.4ghz for a short while but the button is greyed out for me.
    Does anyone have any tips?

    • Had the same issue connecting the mi hub. had to reset the mi hub and restart the tenda app to get it going

  • what would have better range, 4 x MW3s or 2 x MW6s (both running off wifi backend)

    • +1

You want the least devices with the best signal otherwise you're degraded by congestion and weak wifi backhaul… Ie MW6

  • is this even good? just trying to get some signal from my pantry on the other side of the house (modem is in garage, the other side)

    • Should definitely work for that application. Although depending on range you may need 3 of these. Check my links above.

  • This is off topic but can anyone answer my question please:

I have a D-Link router connect to the NBN modem, then the MW3 primary node connect to the router.
When config the mesh to use DHCP, upload speed becomes very slow, only a few kb/s.. but if I change it to use bridge mode then everything works fine.

    Was there something I missed?

    • I found you can just connect the MW3 to the NBN modem without the router. This setup worked for me.

      • Thanks I will give it a go.

  • This is new to me
Can this be used purely as a wifi range extender?

    • They are essentially an extenders. You plug one in as your router (or plug it into your existing ISP router) and the other nodes into power and they will all connect up to each other.

You'll have one SSID but you'll just connect to whatever node is providing the best connection for you. Makes it very easy to setup devices and have full WiFi coverage all over your house.

    • wifi mesh is different to extender.

extender has 50% speed penalty. Mesh doesn't.

i replaced my old wifi extender with this mesh system now my wifi hits 90 megabits in the whole house

  • Since you only have one free LAN port on the main unit can you use a modem/router to provide LAN access to your internet connection then use the Nova main unit for the wifi mesh? I have my Playstation next to my PC where the internet line comes into the house so it would be ideal rather than have the Playstation drop back to wifi only.
