STAYSAFE

For ladies (and gentlemen) interested - hasn't been the safest year to be out at night particularly in Melbourne - $10 discount with code STAYSAFE
I've got one and it alerts my boyfriend straight away when I activate the beacon.

From the website:

beacon by WanderSafe is a discreet, non-violent personal safety device developed to help you or the one you love de-escalate a potentially unsafe situation. The beacon was designed by a female travel professional in collaboration with Safety and Security expert, retired CIA professional Thomas Pecora.

The beacon incorporates principles of basic safety to deliver a powerful non-violent way to stay safe:

  • a 1000 lumen flashlight — Illuminate a potential threat
  • a Strobe light — to disorient and distract a potential threat
  • a 140-decibel personal alarm (to attract attention and scare a potential threat)
  • a Silent ALERT feature that sends an SMS notification to three pre-set contacts with exact map coordinates and that you are in need of an urgent call

With a beacon, help is 3X faster than a single call or text, where seconds could mean life or death. It is designed to empower you to ‘go anywhere’ better and safer.

The beacon and WanderSafe application pair quickly and cordlessly using Bluetooth technology. The beacon makes a perfect safety companion for students, solo travelers, elderly parents, and remote workers. It is ‘help in your hand.’

The beacon is a part of the WanderSafe mission to positively impact 1 billion lives by 2025. For each one we sell, we place one with an NGO Partner to distribute to communities where people are most vulnerable.

Beacon and WanderSafe, you and our trusted community of travelers and commuters. Let’s be Safer Together.

WanderSafe is proud partners with CrimeStoppers International, Airline Ambassadors and Purchased.org working together to reduce violent crime and human trafficking

You might want to put the actual price in the title, plus give an indication of shipping costs as well.

Being prepared is key. I always keep safety bacon in the fridge. You never know when you might need some.
I also keep an emergency ham on standby at Christmas. https://imgur.com/a/lYjqK6U

I enjoy having breakfast in bed. I like waking up to the smell of bacon, sue me. And since I don't have a butler, I have to do it myself. So, most nights before I go to bed, I will lay six strips of bacon out on my George Foreman Grill. Then I go to sleep. When I wake up, I plug in the grill, I go back to sleep again. Then I wake up to the smell of crackling bacon. It is delicious, it's good for me. It's the perfect way to start the day.

Remove everything except GPS co-ords/SMS and sell another version called the 'Datesafe Wingman'

When you are on a internet date and your 'match' has used a photo 15 years old and 20kg's lighter. You hit the button to alert your mates who then call your phone pretending to be your boss letting you know that you are needed back at the office, giving you an excuse to ditch your date and get the hell out of there

Does it have a distance limit to send the sms alert? What if the person is in the middle of africa and u r all the way in australia?

  • +5

    Not a bargain.
Price over inflated for what it is.
    This isn’t ozfreemarketing.
Product wording also open for lawsuits. Help isn’t 3x faster it just messages 3 people.

  • Good idea but crazy overpriced. I'm sure there'd be a phone app with a way to quick-launch and/or call 000 for a lot cheaper.

  • Is it really 140 decibel? I own a few small personal alarms and the best and loudest one I have is 120 decibel. How do you know it’s 140 decibel? That is way too loud, is there proof?

  • +1

Personal alarms with lights cost like $10 or under on ali express

Plus this requires bluetooth on all the time so you are going to be fumbling with your phone if you forget to turn it on and if the bad guy steals your phone or throws it away 10-20 meters good luck getting the device to pair

  • +3

Samsung phone already does all of these things…. and it’s a phone so you know, you can call the cops….

  • Needs to be a lot cheaper than this imo. Would expect to pay $50 maximum
