    Got one cheers OP

  • Can these be purchased in Japan for cheaper? Heading to Japan end of year and hoping to hold out for a little longer.

      • +7

        Hey that’s me! AMA

I think the 600ml was ~$35AUD, but I didn't shop around at all and found it cheaper in Don Quijote after I bought it from Tokyu Hands.

The 460ml one was like, $5ish AUD cheaper and I actually got that one instead, cause it fit in my bags drink bottle pocket.

It’s a great flask, I’ve had the same ice in my water for over 24 hours before. I’ve gone back to using my Contigo Autoseal cause it’s more convenient to fill and drink out of daily. Again, I’m only using these for cold water.

    • +1

Yes if it’s on sale. But with weak AUD maybe not… I bought a 600ml for $23 when I was there.

    • +3

These retail about 2780 yen (without 8% tax) for 470-480mL flasks in Japan, but they have a newer design on the shelves there. 600mL ones are about 3120 yen. Some places have the flasks featured in this post for slightly cheaper. Pricing of these across different stores are generally the same.

A note on tax free shopping in Japan is that there's a minimum 5,400 yen (inclusive of tax) to claim tax back, some places charge a small service fee of say 1%. Also I found that Don Quijote tends to claim prices have been marked down when in fact they were normal retail prices.

Source: Was in Japan last month.

      • I think its the DM version double layered. I also was in Japan in May. BIC store has many versions.

        Not sure about Tokyo hands

  • Is there a reason there's so many flasks being posted as of late? Is it because it's winter? I just can't remember when there were so many posted before.

Not complaining at all, just curious.

    • +5

Idk but all the other flasks are junk compared to zojirushi.

For this one I have to give warnings not to fill with too hot of a liquid, because you will burn yourself as it is just so damn effective at insulating.

      • +3

        you will burn yourself

        You've won me on this.
Thx, ordered one. Wish for 2 but.

No Tiger is of better if not same quality.

Most are made in Thailand. You should go for made in Japan ones. Few years ago all of them were Japan made. However recent years all switched Thailand, which IMO has lesser quality with lower price tag

The vaccum glass ones are better than stainless steel. Just not as portable and heavy. Tiger are good for those but when it comes to portable they are about the same

Bought the latest Zojirushi DM one 600ml still not as good as Tiger vaccum glass one. Overnight gotten cold next morning. Claimed to be double layered. If you use it at home probably get the heavy one.

        For portable they are decent

    • Because of Prime Day some of were glued to our screen to try and grab PS4 for $339 again with our hot coffee / cold drink in our Zojirushi flask.

    • +9

Because a true OzBargainer would never buy coffee out and make their own coffee using a Breville smart grinder/coffee machine combo or a BES870.

They would then fill up their Zojirushi flask and brag about the quality of their home made coffee and the physics defying thermal insulation properties of their flask :)

  • how are you all still seeing these lightning deals?? today all i get under todays deals OR deals from US is 36 items…no lightning ones…

    • I want to know too

    • +3

Go via Amazon.com into their prime sale section - then add .au to the item to see if it's apart of global store :) (works on most items - as long as sold and fulfilled by amazon US)

      • ok - not sure what "add .au to the item" means?? More idiot proof please???

        • +2

add .au after .com in the url and it changes it to our local website instead of the international one. then you can see if the item is apart of the global store for free expedited shipping

          • @Kozhutki: thanks very much! So its pot luck?? everything ive tried becomes "currently unavailable" when i add the .au…even when it ships and sold by amazon…

            • +2

@mumof2sydney: believe so. you can even try it on the item in this post, remove the au and the site redirects to the US version, vice versa. I just rely on people here to do it :-)

These so call lightning deals has a timer once you added to cart. If you don't check out in time no discount apply. I don't like that sales model

        • So you want to hold it in your cart at the special price indefinitely?

          • @unco: No in fact was prime deals doing this. No body wants to hold them. It's just they try very hard to get you checkout

Once you remove from cart the deal goes with it

  • Thanks Op, been looking looking for a good thermos lately.

  • Got one thanks OP. Now back to original price?

    • +3

1 per account. Once you claimed the deal, the price will be change to original price.

    • +2

Will show you the normal price as you have claimed the deal. Checked another browser and deal is still active. So far only 3% claimed.

  • Thanks OP got one

  • +1

Damn I paid $31.63 two days ago.

    • +2

      470ml vs 600ml.

    • +1

That was a different model and the one you got has a nonstick coating while the one here is not coated on the inside.

      • And which is better?

        • +1

When the 20oz was posted I looked into reviews and decided this model without the non stick coating was a better choice, I’ll primarily be using it for coffee. Bought the 12oz model for $35. Compact, good travel coffee size.

          • @Bargearse: Any reason why non non stick is preferred?

            • +1

              @Caped Baldy: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B00HR0WZPO/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i…

I’m not that careful with my things and tend to scratch non stick so thought cleaning and longevity of stainless would be better if using daily with coffee. Few forums around so search the model numbers and have a look at peoples experience. Non stick is the newer model and slightly better heat retention. Some reported flaking of exterior colour so I went with all stainless. See link for the one I went with.

This flask is amazing. 100x better than those T2 flasks

  • +1

Which has the better cashback SB or CW?

    • +4

      SB (8%) vs CW (7%).

  • +1

got a bunch of these from previous sale. good quality item. Bought another for daddyo

  • How do you clean it with such a tiny opening?

    • +3
    • The kid disassembles really well for cleaning too. Super easy.

      • +1

        You kidding, right?

        :p

  • Got one thanks OP.

  • How do these compare with Tiger or Thermos, anyone know?

  • +1

good price, I think it's even cheaper than what I brought when I traveled to Japan few years back.

  • +2

I got one, this thing is AMAZING!!! Not all "thermos" are the same!

The thing is so efficient that you can still burn your tongue after a couple of hours of pouring something hot in it.

At this price bought another one, thanks!

    • I just noticed the one I use is a slightly different model and is 'rated' to be 88/73 degrees after 1/6 hrs. I wonder if it actually makes a difference to insulating ability.

  • +1

Too small… It's like 2-3x drink time and empty

    • +1

600ml was on sale a few days ago

    • -1

      What the ???

Too small? Do you want liquid to take up less space? (If you know how to do this, please tell scientists.)

If it's 480 ml, it's 480 ml. This is the product on sale. Complaining that it's too small is like buying a Suzuki hatch, and then complaining that it's not a Hummer.

The answer: you know, this is a difficult concept, buy a bigger one.

      • The answer: you know, this is a difficult concept, buy a bigger one.

I think that's what they were suggesting.

  • +1

    Good deal, Thanks OP.

keen to burn my tongue on hot liquids in a couple of weeks :)

  • yeah, any 600ml deal?

  • +1

Thx OP. Got one. This is of very good quality and top notch performance in heat retention. I've bought 2 for my mothers when it's deal. Now I can have mine.

  • +1

This is my 4 Zoji purchased. 2 This recent Amazon sale. Love it.

One for everyone in the family (with some labeling)

  • OMG lol, I just logged into SB to checkout and it's expired… NOOOOOOO :(

    • +1

I thought I had missed it too, but I just ordered one for $26 at 10:17 (after reading your comment), I just had to click the button on the top right that said something like "this item is currently available for special offer" or something and it changed it from the original price to the discounted price.

      • Damn it, I didn't see your reply until just now; I just tried what you suggested and it's definitely changed back to original price. Very lucky for you!

  • Thanks OP got one to try it out and see if it's as good as everyone says. Will see how it compares to my contigo flask.

  • +4

    Don't need it.

    Bought one.

  • +1

going to Japan soon but still got one from Amzn anyway cos it's a good deal :)

I think i saw in Japan chemist in Tokyo and didnt get one. it was something like 20x bucks for 470ml given the exchange rate for AUD was 100YEN+.

    • +1

1 AUD = 100 yen that was like in 2013 maybe? I got that when traveling long time ago. Easy to convert hehe

      • actually was about 85YEN. hahaha seemed like forever already as i liked the country so much. Cant wait for jet back in a few wks!

Now need to sort out some data simcards for the family of 3, car rental in Hokkaido, drone regulations in Hokkaido etc etc

  • +1

Will figure out what to do with it. Bought it :D Thanks op!

    • did you buy this at 10:55am 17/07/2019

because i tried 3 minutes after your post but it expired

  • +1

if anyone bought an extra one and don't need it anymore, happy to buy it off you. need one for my toddler :)

    • +1

Kids have it too easy these days, when my toddler forgets where he left his cup I'll go and find it and force him to finish his coffee cold. He'll never learn otherwise.

      • Toddler drink coffee already? Wow and I thought coffees are not healthy? Lucky I dont like coffee.

        • Nah, for the milk bottle. Need it for the midnight and morning feeds :)

      • +1

        LOL

  • best deal ever

    and missed out

    good post OP

    • +2

Look for an SM-SC/SD/SA/TA models in 600mL size. Those are supposedly the best insulating Zojirushi model.

Also, they have a non-stick coating inside VS the SM-KHE here which just is stainless steel.

  • is this thing thinner than the 600ml flask or just shorter? I bought the 600ml for my mum and she says it's too big to take with her.

    • +1

      Shorter.

  • SO UPSET I MISSED THIS

  • Damn annoyed I missed this, I want to buy like 10 of them as christmas presents. Oh well black friday is my next hope.

    • you would have needed to create 10 accounts.

And if all you did was use the same email address with +1, +2, +3, I would be surprised if they didn't have an algorythm to catch exploiters and ban them. Ebay apparently does crack down on this kind of abuse but only if you create 17 ebay accounts.

      • ahh I missed the 1 per account. that actually makes me feel better thanks ;)

  • Any suggestions on alternative with such good quality? The weird plastic flip lid is turning me off - would rather stainless screw or something.
