Thanks for sharing. I wanna get behind the airline. This competition on direct flights is great.

      it's a fairly decent airline.

      used them in March.

      cons :
*no checked baggage (but who needs checked baggage for Bali?)
      *no free earphones
*slow check-in (though you can use electronic check-in for Aus airports and then go to an express queue, but no express queue in Bali. unfortunately for me the ECheck-in wasn't working when I was at Bris)

      pros :
*plenty of leg room. I'm 6' and was very comfortable - plenty of room to stretch
*free meal (chicken or Veg option) + water. softdrink was $2 a can (only Oz currency accepted both ways)
*free movies, music etc (Jetstar makes you pay)
*price - cost $215 return from Bris

      Some Tips for Bali.
(1)get an bali/indonesian sim card (I bought one from Klook - 6gb for $9.95- pick up at airport - klook guys -in orange t-shirts- are standing around just outside arrivals and will set up your phone with the sim -just show a print out/screen dump of the order confirmation)
(2)download go-jek app. this is the Uber app for Indonesia (there is no Uber in Indonesia/Bali). you only use cash. plenty of drivers (longest wait was ~20 minutes in a remote area). and extremely cheap. the most expensive fare was an one hour drive during surge pricing and it cost $17. (the trip there had cost ~$11)

      • Thanks man

      • Did you buy from Klook on their website and pickup at the airport or did you just buy it on the spot?
Looking for the most cheap+convenient sim.

        • bought on klook website.

when booking it you provide your flight details so they are expecting you (I guess, or maybe so they know how when to pre-activate)

confirmation email comes through n minutes.

for $9.95 (sometimes there are small discount codes) it's pretty cheap. there were others for ~$8 on ebay but klook is less than $2 etra and the convenience of collection at the airport , and the klook dudes setting it up in your phone so you know it is working, makes it so straightforward. compared to getting one delivered - post getting lost, activation problems, etc.

  • Can find same price fares on Check my Fares…. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/472133
    Additional $33 off

  • Cant see if this includes luggage, does it? nowhere through the booking process does it ask

    • From what I can tell these fares are from their super saver ticket class, which does not have any luggage included. I think you still get a onboard meal which isnt to bad.

      • Once booked you can log on to the Malindo site and then add baggage, $90 extra for 10kg there and back, still a good deal I think. Booked and paid for. Going to Bali in March :)

    • you are going to Bali. you don't need luggage.
day pack is more than enough.

edit - oh, if your want to take "boogie boards". <wink>

  • How lame is it that Anzac day is on a Saturday next year.

  • Why is it so much cheaper from Adelaide than Melbourne? Just when I moved to Melbourne partly to take advantage of cheap flights!
