      Under the hood we have an Intel/Micron 64-layer 3D QLC NAND and the Silicon Motion SM2263 controller.

      Warranty valid for five years from the original date of purchase or before writing the maximum total bytes written (TBW) as published in the product datasheet and as measured in the product’s SMART data, whichever comes first.

            UPDATE: I got it. I thought the TBW was 1T, but turns out to be 200T

            1TB drive: 200TB Total Bytes Written (TBW), approximately 109GB per day for 5 years

        I did end up using it enough that I think the cost was justified - but now I've gone back to uni full-time, so I can't justify the cost because I'll be buying less anyway.

      High capacity m.2 drives are great for ITX small form factor cases. Recently got rid of both of my two 2.5" SSDs and replaced with one 2TB m.2 SSD, freed up so much clutter with the removal of SATA cables and PSU cables for them too.

      That being said yes it was more expensive as you've noted.

      Why would you get this over an MX500? Performance is basically the same

      This is basically not true in situations that involve reading most of the time which is most consumer use cases. This drive blitzes the MX500 and is close to Samsung 970 for performance for these tasks such as loading games. Given they're so close in price it's hard to recommend the MX500 for these tasks.

      It does fall over with tasks that involve large amounts of writes though.

    Any recommended cheap enclosures just for cloning purposes? Looking to replace the SSD on the laptop from 256GB to this 1TB SSD and it only has the one NVMe slot.

      Could you image it to a file or 2nd hard drive (eg USB HDD) and then clone it back?

      Be careful with UEFI/GPT boot which is quite common since Windows 10. Make sure your cloning software supports it.

        Yes, I have other USB HDDs. What is the recommended cloning software? Preferably free. I'm a noob and have not done cloning before.

        Otherwise I was going to do a fresh install as I have another Win 10 key.

          Macrium reflect worked well for me. Create a usb restore media and make an image onto an external drive

          Macrium Reflect is free, reliable and isn't filled with adware etc. Used it many times without issue.

          If you're reinstalling Win10 to the same PC (i.e. direct SSD swap out) then you don't need another activation Key. It'll pull your existing one back after install. All depends if you have only a handful of programs to reinstall vs. hundreds - cloning will be easier and faster though.

      With average read speeds around 1,300MB/s and write of 900MB/s it would be great for standard usage.

    Just received it but windows cannot detect the SSD even though it shows up in BIOS. Now I have a brand new SSD that will probably sit in the draw for the foreseeable future :(

      Dunno if you've figured this out or if this will help you or not but if you press the windows button and type disk management (create and format disk partitions) I think you will be able to format it in there and give it a drive label so that it can be used by windows.
