around 2 Large chips will fit in there.

Let me guess, the next question will be "how big is a large chip"?

        • +14

Like popcorn at the cinemas, they purchase by weight but sell by volume.

      • +1

So we still don't know the value of the deal…

How much $ worth of chips in it?

        • +8

          About 7 cents

        • +8

          Bout tree fiddy.

  • +7

    Bad deal

    • +25

I think the $2 large fries might be better value, but it's hard to tell if they don't disclose how many chips are included.

      • +10

Depending on whether the store actually fills them or not

        • +1

          That's my point.

How much is supposed to be included?

          • +3

@jv: As much as they show in the advertising would be a start

          • +2

@jv: Why are you being downvoted? This ones a legit question.

Why by one bucket to get "around" the equivalent of 2 large chips…when you can get 2 large for $4….

It just the appeal of the bucket really. I dont think this is a deal.

            • +3

@Ahbal: But you can't get 2 large for $4. $2 large chips was a promo that ran (and finished) in April. Current price of (1) large chips is $4.95.

                @ssquid:

$2 large chips was a promo that ran (and finished) in April.

It was that price a couple of weeks ago.

                  @jv: Don't think so mate.

                  • +1

@ssquid: It doesn't really matter what you think, I paid $2 for them.

                    • -2

@jv: I got some for free yesterday but that doesn't make it a legit promo, does it?

Lucky you… Getting them out of the rubbish bin doesn't count though.

@jv: Sounds like you don't need chips anyway, you're already extra salty.

              • +1

@ssquid: 2 large sides (e.g. chips) is permanently available via the app for $5.95.

            • @Ahbal: plus $1 to KFC youth

                  @jv: From their FAQ
                  Do you advertise to children?
No - we don’t advertise our products directly to children aged under 14 in any media. We also don't advertise our children's meals outside of our restaurants, and we don't include toys with our children's meals. We were a founding member of the Australian Food and Grocery Council's "Quick Service Restaurant Initiative for Responsible Advertising and Marketing to Children" and we take our obligations under that Code very seriously.

                  So it means your responsibility

                    What about youtube ?

Those kids look so healthy eating their KFC…

                    • @jv: Looks like it was US commercial, the above FAQ is from their AU website

                        Here you go…

                        • @jv: Hmm..in fact their US website reads 'Kentucky Fried Chicken', so I thought

KFC are changing their name back to 'Kentucky Fried Chicken', and there starting it now in Australia too… Look at their current ads.

                    • @jv: Depends what 14 year old kids are watching on YouTube…

      • +3

This is actually true. We need to know how many Large chips fits into this bucket.

        • +1

It would be fairer if they sold by weight.

          • +6

@jv: Which fast food outlets run all their chips across the scales before they are sent out?

            • @whitelie:

Which fast food outlets run all their chips across the scales before they are sent out?

They don't need to, but they should state what the min amount is that you a paying for, then they should ensure you get at least that, whether they weigh them or not.

              • +2

@jv: They'll put chips in the bucket. If you're not satisfied with the amount then complain. No different to getting a small, regular or large is it?

              • @jv:

but they should state what the min amount is that you a paying for

Have you looked at the nutritional information?
                They do.

          • +1

@jv: selling by weight of customer is akin to fat shaming

        • ~2, it's right there in the title.

          • @ssquid: Where does it say that in the link, and is it less than 2 or more than 2?

            • +1

@jv: It's in the post title, as written by an employee of the store.
1 Large chips = 1 full scoop. Number of chips per scoop may vary due to chip shape/size, plus large chips is a square box and this is a round bucket, hence "~2".

              • +1

                @ssquid:

                1 full scoop

That's too arbitrary. There could be 50% difference in a 'full scoop' depending on who is serving you. It is wrong.

      • +2

Does it really matter when $2 large chips is not currently available?

        • -1

Yes, I only buy them when they are $2.

          • +2

@jv: Well you'd better wait until these are $4.

          • +1

@jv: What about when the chips are down?

      • better value yes, but not "limited edition"!

      • +1

You forgot the $1 donation, some repentance for your sins.

    • You are correct, but they donate to charity and go to a good cause, so i would “chip” in

  • anyone compared HJ's $2 large fries with KFC?

if HJ is larger, then KFC's deal is nothing special

especially considering KFC removed the snack pack :(

    • +19

      KFC ones taste better.

      • they are a bit thicker

        • +8

          So are their patrons… Oooooh!!!

          (I'm also a patron.. doh!)

        • +3

          they are a bit thicker

I can't comment on that, I've never done an IQ test on them.

          • +7

            @jv: not your best work

            • +1

@R-Man: Gotta be in it to win it though, right?

      • +5

Honestly, I like them both. And HJ's tends to be more consistent in their freshness and crispiness.

    • +4

This deal is just the snack pack minus the popcorn and sauce. Ripped off.

      • +2

need the snack pack back seriously.

    • How mich of the HJ sale goes to charity?

Does it beat the kfc 20% ?

  • +2

    The heart attack grease bucket!!

  • +3

Sweet, saltless tub of mash potato

    • +15

If you're seeing mashed potatoes in a bucket of chips, something's not right.

      Should've gone to Specsavers.

  • Anybody notice how the new receipts at KFC no longer have the free chips and drink survey promotion??

    • +2

      No.

  • Pretty bad deal isn't it? Regular fries $1, large fries $2…?

    • +10

They're tryna make it seem like they're doing a good thing donating $1 by charging an extra $1 lol

      • +25

Cheaper to donate it yourself and claim on tax

        JV: Tax returns aren't bargains.

    • +4

      A large chips is 4.95 not $2.

      • -1

        Past bargains not retail

        Here, here, here and here

Not sure if regular chips was posted, but I seen it on app recently. Idk if 2x regular chips is actually equal to a large chips though.

        • Staff will treat them as equal (2x regular = 1 large) although if you compared volume I think 2x regular would actually be more.

        • +1

Will it be $2 in 3 days? No. Is it $2 now? No. Is some idiot going to whine that large chips was 50 cents in 1992? Maybe.

          • @smartazz104: Just saying it's relatively a below average discount, didn't say it shouldnt be posted - many similar "announcement like" bargains are posted (ie hungry jacks deals, etc)

        • How is a past bargain relevant unless you have a time machine?

          • @dmac80: Relevant as a reference point and also an indicator of potential future sale prices.

Everyday price of this is $5.95 btw (two large sides on app)

      • -2

Nobody buys them for $4.95, especially nobody on here

        • I was just going to give + until I saw your comment 😊

  • +7

So about 1 large chips at my local store, buggers always half fill them.

  • +5

Local charcoal chicken places would be better value and tastier

    • +6

Buy kebab bread, tabouli, garlic sauce and fill with chicken, chips or whatever you feel like.. Heaven in a wrap.

  • Bucket!

  • serve of gravy and a fork

  • +1

Would buy you 2kg of Aussie chips in a packet from the Big 3 right now!

  • +5

KFC chips are so hit or miss, why double the stake?

    • +4

Completely agree. They're either perfect or soggy, seasonless garbage.

      • I only go when they're busy and get extra salt, I'd estimate they're deliciously perfect 80%+ of the time, good about 15% and go in the bin about 5%. You can ask for them fresh, but I haven't.

Red rooster cook theirs fresh, so if I have a craving outside optimal KFC time and there's a Red Rooster I'd probably go there. Their seasoning is a bit different but I enjoy it.

  • +1

    ask for extra seasoning.

    • Yeah ok as you wish.

    • +1

      Can I have extra seasoning?

  • +5

Don't forget to do the survey, for more chips

  • +1

sounds expensive? or atleast the bare minimum?

  • -6

Go support your local Fish and Chips.
For $5 you would get more and better freshly cooked chips than KFC's under cooked soft, soggy chips.

Negging cause your local Fish and Chips have better and every day deal on chips than this.

    • +4

I'm actually going to have to agree with you on this one. I often pull up outside a restaurant I've never been to before. Some random one in a random place on my travels. Google reviews helps :) 4+ stars and I'll try it!

I don't think KFC need my business!

    • +1

Nah I likE KFC chips but you have a point that you probably would get more chips at your local fish and chip shop and there are some good ones out there.
