One of Those Cool USB 'Key Drives' Only $8.99 (from $14.99) at Staples

36

These are 4GB usb sticks in the shape of a really thin silver 'key'.
They look snazzy & fit on a key chain with all your other keys nice and subtly.
Originally $14.99 its only $8.99 which is pretty good for 4GB although keep in mind you'll probably need to pay your own postage.

Not sure if they're still valid but here are free $25 vouchers available in Staples - just do a search with OzBargain and they should come up

The vouchers were for $20 and if memory serves me correctly are no longer valid

    • The paper, scissors, ink game still seems to be running on http://www.staples.com.au/game?ns_campaign=Home_Page_Banners… so I think the GAME20 code is still valid.

      • +1

The game discount code is GM202 now and it's only $20 off when you spend $80 or more.

        • Just tried it. Cheers.

      • No, it was replaced with GM202 or something like that, and its $20 for purchases over $80.

        EDIT: beaten to it

  • i don't know if i'd call them cool. personally i'd be looking for something a bit more ruggerdised

    • +1

especially if you put it on your key chain

8.99 for 4Gb is not cheap

    • -1

if you got replacement 20 dollar codes then yeh, get 2 and a milo for 6 bux

  • +3

    Is this post a joke?

    • I lol'd so I'd say so

  • Cheap LaCie knock-offs. The LaCie ones are toughened and hardy, though pricey. Not sure about these ones.

  • +1

$25 vouchers available in Staples ??????????????where

  • Looks like there is new voucher, just need to play the game and you will get one.

  • New game voucher is $80 minimum spend I believe.

  • Personally I have a kinda different take on "cool".

Anyway Staples have finally wised up after being Brodened hard by Ozbargain.
No more zero-minimum spend vouchers… and I would guess very few actual sales based on their insane everyday prices.

I still think they will sell quite well despite their prices, all they will need are a few government and education contracts, where purchasers aren't spending their own money. You only have to look at recent events in Victoria to highlight that: http://www.crn.com.au/News/260710,print-toner-scandal-rocks-…. I'm not saying Staples are involved in doing that though…

      • +2

That toner example was just insane. They only got caught because they became so routinely greedy. Imagine all the other scams that are happening at a lower level..

As for Staples, I think they'd have years of work in catching up with Officeworks and the others getting Govvy contracts. It seems the point of their marketing push with the voucher "fun" games etc was to create a positive impression in the retail consumer market. I'd rate it pretty much a complete balls-up. Great for us but incompetent in may ways. I don't think they identified they problem until quite recently. The CEO was even bragging about their "phenomenal growth" outstripping all expectations etc etc. I'm guessing he was basing that on new accounts and individual sales. Remove the Ozbargain single use multiple accounts and the vouchers and how many actual "full fare" repeat customers are left? I'd guess sweet Fanny Adams.
Once all the specials are over we are left looking at some really wacky pricing. I think a lot of retail customers, specially 'round here, head straight over to the portable computer accessories to kinda gauge the value of this kind of store.
An example; These guys are selling Verbatim 320Gb 2.5 portable drives for $99. That's just off putting. It's so far behind the street price they seem out of touch with reality.

      • RE: Article. Wow!

wow, the first staples deal without hundreds of plus votes in the first hour.

here at ozbargain, if you can't slap a discount code on it, then it ain't a bargain :)

    • +4

      That was awful…

  • I believe they bought out Corporate Express http://www.ce.com.au/assets/f01be4e998bf43009ca84d51944b3743… who already have many government contracts e.g. https://www.tenders.vic.gov.au/tenders/contract/view.do?id=3….

A lot of people here seem to complain of their over-inflated prices, but overlook their price match policy. Admittedly it isn't that much of an incentive to take them up on that — if you can get it for that price elsewhere, why wouldn't you just walk in off the street and buy it retail, vs. the hassle of ringing them and trying to get them to match! At least at Officeworks you get 5% off for the trouble.

    • Was wondering why my Staples deliveries were plastered with Corporate Express stickers (works normal supplier, hence was confused the secretary).

  • +3

I still remember what happened last time, they just cancel most order for the cheap usb….. just say out of stock…
So stupid website, never buy it again!

    • Agree Fay .. seems like a bit of a circus.

    • +2

ofcourse your not going to buy it again, there is no more stock…

    • yeah, stupid website, I wouldn't buy it either! (can't afford :D)

  • im over these clowns. cant even produce what they sell. apology letter saying out of stock did not suffice. if bigw online did that they would issue credits. and of course staples shipping system is flawed

  • I agree. Wouldn't buy there again: bought something 4 weeks ago, still hasn't arrived and they do not answer any emails about it. I'm really pissed off.

  • Right on Castrom8, i am still waiting an order from a month ago and no answer to 5 emails so far.
    Really bad service.

  • +1

Why don't you guys call them???
my friend had a problem with an order and after calling them it got delivered the next day….
