Only got 2 upvotes back then 10 years ago.

Its not the same product. The specs, looks and dimensions are different

      • +15

Yeah mate, 10 years tends to change tech products

  • Why is it so cheap?

Ps. Ive never bought an external SSD so no clue if this is what SSDs go for these days

    • +3

It’s comparable to a USB or microSD card on sale I suppose, but this is a good deal imo.

    • +7

256gb for an SSD is tiny by today’s standards. You can get a SD card with perhaps 1/100th of the physical size and same storage capacity for not much more.
SSD’s are durable and reliable than SD cards though. So definitely a good deal if you have a good use for it like backing up photos.

Portable ssds aren't really worth it unless it's 1-2TB since you can get flash drives with type C and 3.2 with 400+mbits

      • Any recommendations?

        • The Samsung type C ones 400mbitd read write if you can get those on sale - got one 256gb for $40 on sale in 2022 - but be careful, they are Tiny.

    • +7

Just buy a 256gb flash drive lol. Way more portable and tried and tested brands

    • +1

It's not a good product. You can get this storage in a USB stick that's insanely more convenient for a similar price: https://www.centrecom.com.au/lexar-jumpdrive-dual-drive-d300…

This is clearing out a basically defunct product. If you're going to go for this form factor, you're basically looking at wanting over 2TB. Otherwise you can just get a USB stick for anything 1TB and under.

$5 welcome coupon wont apply to my cart. Anyone else having this issue?

    Edit: $80 minimum

    • Was just about to ask!

    • +3

      same on me, I saw:

      A $5.00 voucher requires a minimum expenditure of $80, while a $30.00 voucher necessitates a minimum spending of $120.

  • Any ideas what coupon they are referring to on the listings that have "SAVE MORE WITH COUPON!" plastered on them?

  • -1

The coupon code you entered couldn't be applied to your order

      (e) A $5.00 voucher requires a minimum expenditure of $80, while a $30.00 voucher necessitates a minimum spending of $120.

  • anyone know the tbw for this?

  • Sounds tempting! Any reviews?

Do Samsung T7 1TB ever go on sale? I bought one for ~$115 in early 2024 but they seem to have gone up in price since then. Was hoping to get another portable SSD to backup that one.

    Thanks OP!
If anyone's interested and location is suitable for you, VIC Frankston store still showing some stock.

  • I'd do anything to avoid dealing with Centrecom and their terrible customer support.

  • Am within 20 mins of one of the only 2 stores with stock in all of AU, so felt obliged to get 1!

  • i wonder if they contain an NVMe drive and can be shucked?

  • Looks like only for new customers. I can buy it as new customer but if I log in it says sold out. Tried on multiple browsers.
