2020 BMW M240i Coupe $74,900 Drive-Away Offer @ BMW Australia Dealer Network

1942

BMW Australia has announced a sharp drive-away deal for its M240i Coupe, which is now on sale from $74,900 drive-away.

Previously listed at $79,100 before on-road costs, the promotional offer represents a $13,000 saving (based on Victorian metro pricing), while also bolstering appeal with more equipment than before.

Additional specification includes 18-inch double-spoke M light alloy wheels, hexagon Alcantara upholstery in Anthracite/Black, 'Aluminium Hexagon' ornamentation with black high-gloss highlights, an electric glass sunroof, metallic paint, and a wireless smartphone charging pad – metallic paint and a powered sunroof previously asked for $1700 and $2700 respectively.

The wheels are available in Jet Black, bi-colour Jet Black, and Cerium Grey matte finishes, wrapped in 225/40 front and 245/35 rear tyres.

Unfortunately the 240i is an ageing car, it has been around for multiple years now with some minor facelift. If anyone is really after a 2 series, wait for the new 2 series gran coupe where it has the new design elements and style. That car is arriving end of this year.

    • if you would oblige my slight bias towards the 2 series coupe - it's not always about the 'latest and greatest', it's about the ones that will gain cult/classic status. i appreciate everybody will have their own preferences when it comes to cars, but the 2 series, F22 is a modern classic to me. It's essentially the rebirth of the e46 m3, all the power and control in a small package with modernised features.

The 2 series gran coupe is a different car altogether and is BMW's response to a different car consumer. It loses its chassis and gains 2 extra doors and is basically a cheaper 3 series imo. And it took away the one thing that gave the 2 series character; its RWD layout. /facepalm

Get the F22/F87 while you still can. Personally, I think the M2 will retain its value like the discontinued 1M, e92 M3 and e46 M3.

This is possibly the last straight six with Rear Wheel Drive. Could be a cult classic

    • +1

New 1 and 2 series look utterly forgettable.

    • This, end of line of chassis. Depreciation will be brutal on this once the new 2020 chassis arrives.

  • +4

Don’t need it but still bought it.

    • +1

Right choice. You are effectively losing money if you do not buy it.

  • great car would buy again.

  • I signed up to Ebay Plus specifically today just for this deal, I won't be reselling it.

  • +1

Will combine it with the Free Driving Lesson for Learner Licence Holders @ Keys2Drive (Aus Govt Funded)

    • Good Luck, pretty sure this wont be on the approved list for P platers

  • Thanks OP

is it possible to afterpay this in 1 instalment?

  • +1

any offer for X3 or X5?

  • +2

For this price you can get a Model 3, not this rebadged Toyota, lol.

  • "Yawns"… so many upvotes. Must be a bargain.

  • What a great deal it is. Is it faster than Cd Drive 😋

  • +1

    Come on Amazon!

  • No cash rewards pass.

  • Tesla Model 3 price $68910 that's the car I want, not this ICE lemming.

    • Agreed, stupid BMW badgers. Lol.

    • Me too. I have pre booked one 2 years ago and now when it finally available to buy I cant afford it due to needing to reduce work hours for studies.

  • Thinking about trading in my current Uber car for this. Hmm…How many cup holders does it come with?

  • +4

for this price I would just get a tesla 3?

    • If not Tesla, maybe still selling for $90k+.

  • I’ll stick with my M2 Competition thanks.

  • Too bad I'm broke for this.

  • Love reading the comments on car posts XD

  • +1

I will wait for the Xiaomi version

  • +1

Can I pay in cash installments over the next 20 years?

  • These cars can be 'negatively geared', so make a good business or Uber car. You can claim expenses and depreciation.
(Financially hoon it at your own risk. Seek independent tax advice)

  • Any deals on the M2 Competition Pack?

  • +2

"M240i comes from a 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six developing 250kW of power."

I'll stick with my Kia Stinger at 272 kw. And 7 year warranty. And free Android Auto. And actual resale value.

  • Great car, but you can definitely negotiate the price further.

Fair warning though, BMW service is crap. Their tech also sucks. Sometimes they can't even get their own connected services to work and blame it on BMW Australia / German head office.

  • why dont we do a group buy? lol

  • +1

Can't decide whether I should get this car or Samsung note 10. Probably note 10 since it comes with free headphone

  • Is it a high yield investment? ;) probably got mentioned hundred times before?lol

  • On the hand, BMW sure hire lots of "+" bots eh.. So many plus.. Surely..

    • I was thinking of negging this … lol bmw

    • Mine is sarcastic ;)

  • +2

    Not $80k? Pass.

    • +1

I was looking for high yield investment comment, this is probably closest I get to find one. +1 for you sir!

  • Be a MAN, dooo the right thing! buy the car!

  • why does this deal have nearly 5k clicks lmao?

  • Would OW price match?

  • +1

you could buy this or a Tesla Model 3 for about the same or cheaper depends on the specs

    • +1

Long range is 93.6k, Performance is 102k.

The only one you can get is the base model which is 70.6k. It's quite a big jump in price between models.

I was kind of disappointed because Tesla said there would be a 35k USD Model 3, and when someone asked Elon on Twitter if the AU pricing would be a conversion of the USD price, or if it would be Aussie taxed for the priviledge of being an Aussie, Elon personally responded and said it would be based on USD conversion, plus GST, plus delivery fees and on road costs. It worked out to be over 50k but under 60k AUD.

But when the actual pricing comes out, you're looking at 70.6k minimum.

      • -1

Same guessimate I thought 52k base not 70k. Bought a Subaru instead.

Still base model 3 is cheaper than this BMW. Model 3 is a far better car.

      • +1

I am annoyed too with the increased price and no subsidy from govt.

        • +1

govt is not going to subsidise them other than slightly cheaper rego.

They are now sure what to do with EVs. EVs are a threat to infrastructure income because the govt makes a large amount of money in taxes per litre of petrol, and this money is being spent on maintaining roads. When people go electric, they stop paying those taxes for the roads they use and the govt is looking for ways to charge EV owners to make back the lost revenue.

          • @lostn: That's interesting. How is other countries giving so many incentive for EV? In USA last year you could get up to 18k in rebate for a tesla.

            • @Safoan: I think they didn't get their infrastructure revenue from fuel excise but through other means. Those countries actively encourage the adoption of EVs for environmental reasons. We on the other hand are torn.

A proposed solution is to get EV owners to pay a tax based on KMs driven between services. It kinda defeats the purpose of the saving money on fuel part of the equation somewhat.

    • Thought about a Tesla but their relaibility in delivery is patchy at best.

  • +2

Don't waste money on brand new BMW, I just bought year old BMW X3 30i fully optioned for $30k less than what I would pay for new car.

    • and how much would that be?

  • Boys those extras with sunroof etc seem so cheap! $1700 and $2700 each.

Compared to base price which iz hefty of course.

  • What a crappy car, to much Gimmickyy Yaris is way more reliable than this junk, you see more Yaris than this.

  • +1

So should I get a novated lease, finance it at 14% or redraw on the home ?

  • BMW is about to be Ozbargained.

I'm buying two myself. Hope there isn't a limit of one per customer.

The bigger question is, how are they getting us a car from the future? They have a time travel device to put the car in?

  • just got a 2015 Peugeot 508 wagon, all the bells an whistles 140k 2 ltr diesel for $12000 - the biggest cost of owning a car is depreciation peeps ( i admit that spares can be exy and a french car isn't everyone cuppa but i can live with that)

    • I dont think many potential buyers would be cross shopping an M240i with a Peugeot 508 wagon. If anyone is considering buying a new BMW Sports Car they should factor in large depreciation. You dont buy cars like this for capital growth.

  • +1

BMW dropping prices to try and compete with Tesla.

How is buying a car at extortionate prices a deal here these days? This site is going down the drain.

    • +2

      Sarcastic dollariary doos

    • +2

      Ill feed the troll

You're basically saying people with a higher income who can afford these cars aren't entitled to bargains. Bargains are relative to the consumer not exclusive to discretionary items of a lower value.

  • Oh crap!!!…. and here I just bought a Golf R on Wednesday, as the M140i series was too small for me (and the 2 series was too expensive!!!)

  • I would never buy this particular BMW, or any new one.

But the judgment, ridicule and miss understanding of automotive concepts and sales displayed here are quite disappointing, knowing these same people are commenting opinions on other things here really brings down my opinion of this place.

  • +1

Did 186 people take the deal or are they clicking the plus because they think it is a good deal? BMW would be loving it selling 186 new cars!

    • I was just here fore the comments section, but ended up very disappointed. This thread not delivering the usual LUL

Now that the Royal Commission is over there are lots of young Merchant Bankers looking for high yeild Luxury Car Investments

  • Can anybody point me at a price guide driveaway for a Holden Colorado 4x4 MY20 LTZ ?

I am thinking of buying but think I might be being ripped off based on comments above.

All the guys saying why buy this when it's a depreciating asset, it's better to buy a Camry, invest in something else etc. Maybe invest in yourself first and earn a higher income lol.
