  • only gives me $50 gift card

    • +1

Use CARX03 not 02. Still didnt reduce the price any for me.

      • The price didn't go down but I got the $100 voucher with Carx03. Thanks.

  • +3

What if you are already with them? Cancel and then restart it?

    • +5

Yes. I've done this multiple times

      • +1

Is there a gap? Or you restart right after cancel?

        • You nominate when you want the cover to start. Try an online quote - don't have to commit. Most insurers give 10% off online, Ww usually has a gift card and limited price matching. BUT be very aware of the agreed price and excess. Pays to do a few quotes with different providers. Ww wasn't within cooee even with the $100 card for my vehicle.

          • @[Deactivated]: Who was cheaper in your case?

            • @Steptoe: I did Coles (IAG), Ww (Hollards), AusPost (Auto&General), NRMA, QBE, Allianz, Beyond Bank, Unity. Used a spreadsheet to note the agreed value, excess, total cost. In my case there was little between QBE who I went with, BB and Unity (from memory they're all underwritten by Allianz?). Coles and Ww were a fair way off (esp Ww) but the major sticking point was their agreed value - something they won't change in my experience. GL

      • $30 cancellation fee?

  • +1

when is the offer valid until?

    • Don't rely on it but if you google and try various codes you'll usually find one which works in my experience, even if it's not advertised.

  • +2

I just had online chat with the Woolworths customer service and they said they cannot honur the promo code unless you tell them the source. I wanted to use both promo code and price beat but they said they cannot honour the promo code. That's utter rubbish customer service..

    • +1

      Same.

Policy was $1000 above Racv which is just outrageous.

      • I have another policy (House insurance) with them & when i log in, it was a banner which i have added as a link.

        • ahhh…then it's targeted I guess.

  • +1

I switched on the previous deal and still didnt get the voucher!

    • How long ago? I did 3 policies and got 3 gift cards which has made my insurance very low

  • Thanks

  • +5

Prices are good but service is rubbish… i had an animal collision last Monday, took it to their authorised/recommended repairer and they haven't even done quotes yet..

Strangely their "sales team" is open via online chat and phone on weeknights and weekends, but if you want to follow up a claim the "claims team" is only open business hours mon-fri.

and its a 30+ minute wait time every time i call them. :(

    • +1

The Coles one all operated out of remote compounds in South Africa. I’d imagine this isn’t much different

      • +1

Coles (which is IAG, Ww is Hollards) was local a few years ago when we needed to claim. Service was excellent. May have changed.

I can confirm that I received gift cards for all my policies (I did 3 renewal in the last two months). I still got the $100 even for the policy I cancelled as I sold my previous car and then bought a new one and received another $100.

    • How long did you receive gift card. After purchase. Are they e-gift card?

      • +1

No, they are proper cards. About 1 month after.

        • Ok maybe I will wait and see. They did not mention anything about gift card after the payment. Did show on quote screen.

          • @ce5himm: Same here. Probably best to get a screen shot to be safe

  • +3

Much thanks, had only last week signed with Budget Direct - my premium was $506 ($850 excess, $21k agreed value) WW were a lot better - $342 ($800 excess, $23k agreed value) - both comprehensive - the WW one was for 12k annual mileage (as we don't drive too much).
$100 gift card on top of a $160 saving……much thanks OP.

    • wow thats pretty good, my old car at $8.5k agreed value is $1k to insure! I am not that young and no bad records, so weird.
      Third Party for me then…

      • +1

Try Aus Post (Auto&General). They were cheap for my old 4WD, only marginally more than TPP.

        • I’ll look at them too.
Son just got his renewal for racq and it’s $1100, just did a Woolworths quote and they are $1700!

    • +1

How is your comprehensive so low ? I'm 27, no history of damages, full license, my car has an agreed value of $9.8k , and still end up with $1300 for a year. Comprehensive insurance is so costly at times.

      • +1

        for 12k annual mileage,

        Mileage = 12,000 Km ??, is it ??

        • I have low mileage insurance which Woolies also offer, it can make a huge dent in the premium.

  • +2

Be careful with Woolworths as they will renew your policy automatically unless you instruct them to the contrary just before renewal. You can also be assured the renewal price will be a lot more expensive than starting a new policy.

    • Don't they all renew automatically? I would hope so.

      • Not if you pay upfront for the full year. If you pay monthly by credit card then it will be automatic

        • My renewal letter said: we will automatically charge the same card as last time on xx date.

      • No, none do that I know of.
(Well maybe if you pay more and go monthly)

    • My renewal price was cheaper than starting a new policy
And Woolworths was by far the cheapest option. $650 vs $800+ for all other insurers

      • Same here. Except mine was a new policy with Woolworths. Not sure if a renewal would be more expensive. Guess I'll find out next year…

  • Was just about to buy without the $100 gift card. Thanks for the posting

  • Policy came to $860 with $100 gift card when selecting 10,000 kilometers per year, when I changed it to 20,000 kilometers per year it dropped to $794 and a $100 gift card. :-o

    • Weird. I tinkered with excess and agreed values. Found there are particular jump points but I could get an extra $1K and sometimes more on agreed value without the price changing.

  • Not sure why but for my car both coles and WW are around $350 more expensive than NRMA and AAMI. (~$800 AAMI,NRMA vs. ~$1150 coles, WW)

    • Same here mate. Think this depends on Age primarily, doesn't matter on experience.

  • are you guys using any comparison sites? or just logging into each insurance website and asking for a quote?

    • +1

I'm going through each and every site and getting a quote. Ensure that you maintain the same excess and also agreed value

    • you do the quote yourself without any interaction

  • Weird says code is invalid and can't get gift card, same with 03
    10% off does work though

  • After the final checkout, when the confirmation screen comes up, there's the option to get other insurances (home/contents also with a $100 voucher). Good deal

  • Neither coupon code worked for me. Quote was $265 higher than my lowest quote so wouldn't go ahead anyway.

  • More expensive than NRMA using a comprehensive policy with an under 25 driver

  • used the code, but after payment, did not mention the gift card, how will they send out the gift card?

    • It gets shipped to you. It’s a physical gift card, it arrived after about a month for me

  • Renewal notice jumps up 20% while vehicle value drops 10%
Make sure you call up cancel before it auto renews after the year

    • pretty much every insurance does same thing. i normally change insurance company every year.

  • Thanks! Saved us $100s compared to our Youi renewal notice, and the $100 gift card is a nice bonus.

I found that sometimes the system will say the voucher is invalid, but after doing the quote again on a private window and it worked.

  • +1

Thanks Guys - OP should update the code to CARX03 coupon code.
Just to clean up the post :)
Have done this about 3 times in the span of 6 months now. Great way to get savings

  • Quick question OzBs. I am right now with Budget Direct and have got the renewal notice for comprehensive insurance. Due to a job change, I will be using my vehicle to commute to work daily . I will be roughly driving 75kms a day to/fro my office. There may be another 10,000 kms annually for family/personal commute. What do you guys recommend?

    1) Should I inform Budget Direct about the change that I will be driving more than 15,000 kms a year at the time of renewal OR

    2) Should I update the policy few months down the line when I actually hit the 15.000 km mark?? Will this help save some $$$ on the premium?

My understanding is that premium is charged on a pro-rata basis so changing the policy down the line will affect the premium. Can your please share your inputs. TIA!!

    • I remember that when I was with BD, I had to take a photo of the speedometer at the beginning of the period, this is the same as Woolworths insurance. I would recommend you tell them the truth at the beginning, as your premium will go up, might as well compare BD's premium with other companies at the beginning before renew. That way there're no surprises. Don't think you'll save premium if you tell them later, most likely they will gouge you as you are already with them.

      • thanks for the tip mate. Updated BD and surprisingly minimal change to premium. Happy with BD and will probably stick with them!!

  • Has someone been successful in using the WW price beat along with the promotion code CARX03? Any tips on how to get WW to honor both of these?

  • Anyone got the gift card yet ? Applied 1 month ago and nothing in the mail yet.

    • +1

Received today. I signed up from Aug 3.

      • So 2 months of payments minimum…which would be around or over $100?

  • Just wondering, do you get some kind of verification on the page that you will receive a gift card? Like should it pop up.
I entered both codes.. both said verified.. but nothing on the 'buy now' page says anything about a gift card.. does that mean it didn't work?

    • +1

On the bottom of your quote page, there's a asterisks explaining the t&C of your particular bonus/offer, There's also a link for a pop up that you can read. You can save the whole page by printing the whole quote page to PDF to keep a record for later.

  • crazy it was more than 800 more for me as compared to AAMI and they said they won't pricematch it

Don't get it blindly , double check it again if it's actually cheaper.
