Officeworks: SONY CD-R 700MB/80min Pk/25 for $1.00

290

It seems to be a pricing error. I bought 6 just now. I hope they don't mean $1 for each disk.

I will update you when I receive my package.

  • This is my first post. I apologise that you guys can see any image in the thumbnail section.
However, if you click 'Picture Coming Soon' it will take you the picture I attached.
I am not sure why it doesn't display in the preview.

    • It takes up to 5 minutes for the images (usually snapshot of web pages) to be taken…

    • well if this is what you can do first time, then we'll expect a lot more in the future :-)

      nice post

  • Pitty about the extra 5.95 "handling fee" for orders under 50 dollars.

Anyway I put in for 5 packs, 125 CDR for 14.90 not bad :) Thanks for the notice.

  • good stuff! here's what i call a real bargin… pity i still got heaps of CDRs lying around :(

  • All gone… but good while it lasted.

  • that was quick…good find though.

  • "This product has been placed on backorder as we are currently unable to fulfill the quantity requested."

Does this mean your order's still in?

    • Can do. In the past they have honoured backorders. I still enjoy my 2TB drive, that they honoured although it took 3 weeks to supply.

      see http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/2919

      • How do you process backorder, it won't allow me!?

  • just bought some thanks for the great bargain. hopefulyl we get them soon

  • Arhhh! All gone… Good find!
This item is unavailable for backorder. Please select another item or change the quantity to that shown in the 'Qty Available' column.

  • cheap, but cds r pretty useless these days, i can't think of 1 situtation where i'd wanna burn a cd instead of a dvd.

    • One, in my cars MP3 player, which wont handle DVD's.
Another when I want to share some podcasts with friends who still only understand how to use CD players. (otherwise they would download themselves).

      • hehe, u got me ozpete :P

        • Then its up to you to get me back sometime LOL

  • I tried to order last night but something was messing up with my cart and I couldn't process it. I could see the cart total at the top of the screen increase but when I was in the basket page there was no button to go to the next page or remove items! Anyone else have that trouble?

    • Yeah, same here Jabba, by cart is also messed up. I guess I missed out on the sale.

  • Officeworks have been doing some crazy clearances as of late!

  • I just now put a backorder in (for 5) and had no problems. The real question is going to be whether they honour it or not :)

  • "This item is unavailable for backorder. Please select another item or change the quantity to that shown in the ‘Qty Available’ column."

If this is the case, then they won't honour it. I wouldn't get your hopes up when they clearly state that its not for backorder (it's silly how the site won't stop you from doing it).

    • Yeah I think the chances of them ordering more of a clearance product is quite slim.

  • They want to add $9.40 shipping and handling on a $1 purchase? Geez! When you factor that in, media is cheaper than that at a weekend computer market, and with a computer market I know I'm going to get it, unlike this where it's on backorder and you may or may not get it at some delayed date off in the future. Only makes sense if you want to buy more than 3, plus are willing to run the risk of the price not being honoured, plus don't mind some delay.

    • agree so I placed an order for 5 and threw in the 1000 wireless keyboard, so I either paid no shipping on the Cd's or saved $5.95 off the keyboard.

  • Im pretty certain that even if the price isnt honoured, they cant force you to buy it at normal price. If it is honoured than very well. they should have had a limit of 3 per customer. because theres nothing stopping someone buying 100 packets and selling them $5 each at their local computer markets

  • I ordered some last night, 2 packs arrived today. So I'm guessing the rest will come later when they get more in.

  • All 5 packs came today :)

Very nice, i'm in the outter suburbs of Brisbane and same day delivery.

  • I received my 6 packs today. Couldn't believe it! 150 Sony CDR for $15 delivered at my door. It will easily last me 2 years.

  • wow, great deal indeed (or is it?!). i had a little peak on the officeworks website just then, to see what all the fuss was about, couldn't find it anymore, but meh, i have stacks of CD-Rs already.

Previous experience: beware of these sony discs… in my humble opinion, they are pretty much the worst ones i have ever used (and boy, i've bought some real cheapo ones back in the day…).
i don't know if it was just the batch i bought from JB-Hifi or the whole lot of them.
they are pretty light and thin discs, when burning music with my macbook's slot drive… well.. WHOA… it sounded like it was shredding my computer from the inside! i felt like crying, the whole table literally shook, and it looked like my little macbook was going to blow!

it was the scariest thing i've experienced on a computer since December 31, 1999 staring blankly at the screen at 11:59pm, waiting for the Y2K bug/armaggedon. also, the same thing happened to my brother's HP computer and all the other burners in the house, about half of the discs (out of 50) did this, and the ones that made the noise, were all erroneous and i had to chuck them out!

i searched the net, and indeed without much effort searching, i realised i wasn't the only one.

now, i'm not trying to give sony a bad name, heck i love sony products, but boy their CD's are crud.
don't use them at all for any archiving and unless you're feeling lucky, in no way insert them into a slot-drive like in a mac.

    • Ouch, I haven't had problems with DVDs, are their CDs much worse than their DVDs?

  • Well Officeworks couldnt supply me with the Sony CD's after my order was accepted by the system. BUT they supplied me with Imation disks instead at the same price. Really these guys have one of the best customer service policies of any online retailer. They will be my supplier of choice.
