Saw the deal at JB in store only, nothing on the website. Low stock noted on ticket but they checked and some had multiple stock locally in Brisbane. Saw the deal in Brisbane CBD.

    Price in title please

    Also it's not 2k (QHD), it's closer to 1080p.
Apparently some manufacturers refer to 2560x1080 as QHD… A bit misleading, not the OP's fault though.
A QHD ultrawide would really be 3440x1440 in my opinion

Thanks, fixed anyway to avoid confusion.

      • aw3418dw is WQHD, QHD is 2K

        • +1

I'd definitely say it's still dumb. Isn't the W meant to represent "wide". Who would see "wide quad high definition" and think "oh, it must be a stretched 1080p". No, that'd suggest a wide 1440p.

  • What's the price?

    • +1

$1198, not terrible. Probably cause a new model coming out.

Just for anyone thinking of purchasing this. I got the Alienware AW3418DW which is the 3440x1440 counterpart for $900 (inc. cashback). So to me this is a little pricey.

    • $900 USD?

      • +3

AUD. It was a previous post.

        • Wow, that's a crazy price. I paid $1504 for mine and was feeling pretty good about it…

yeah that was a crazy price. Couple of stacked coupons and the cherry on top was the shopback of ~$195 which was expected to get rejected but got confirmed eventually, bringing it to just over $900.

This AW3418HW has been $999 before, if i remember correctly

          • @alphalpha: Same here, got the DW after cashback for $900AU flat.

    1080 lol.
    gotta be kidding me

Not just 1080 but 1080 on a 34" panel. I sure do love to count those individual pixels.

are we sure this is a good deal? this is $1198 for a 144hz 1080p ultrawide

    I feel like i'm missing something here…

like here is a 144hz Samsung (even more) Ultrawide for $1 more and its not even on sale

and regular wide 144hz 1440p monitors can be gotten for half the price..

    • This is not a good deal IMHO

  • +13

This is a terrible choice for the price, you can comfortably get 1440p ultra wide for less.

JB are also the last place you'd go for a Computer Monitor too…

  • +3

You will soon be able to buy a 1440p 240Hz TN monitor for cheaper than this. This is overpriced for a 1080p ultrawide in 2017, let alone today.

Good luck on your monitor hunt OP, but I hope people are finding better value out there.

      Where from?

      • First model is the HP Envy X27, available from the end of next month, MSRP of US $650, or around AU$725 after GST.

        • Sorry, that should be AU$ 1050; forgot the currency conversion.

    • Would one want a TN ultra wide though?

      • Probably for high FOV competitive gaming.

      • It's not an ultrawide, but I take your point.

  • Even the kogan monitor kill this one. I can't see this as deal but I respect who does.
