      • thanks! Done! Returned through EbayPlus and ordered through Dell

        • +6

I ordered last Friday also for $1449. Just rang Dell and they said they will refund the difference when I receive delivery.

          • @linc4342: Well I received the monitor and now dell is telling me they cannot give me a partial refund because I purchased the monitor through ebay and they won't price match(even though I stated this on the day I rang them).
I should of cancelled and ordered direct when I have the chance. missed out on the sale now.

A further 5% off with EOFY@5EPPDISCOUNT coupon code, enjoy! 😊

  • Great monitor, especially at this price.

  • Have asked the wife for approval. This is deal for me, I need the room as I currently have two 27" montiors that take up a ton of space.

EDIT: I assume the HDMI port can do the full res (might hook up to PS4). My U2713HM can't do anything more than 1080p out of the HDMI

    • User manual says:

The Alienware AW3418DW/AW3418HW flat panel display has an active
matrix, Thin-Film Transistor (TFT), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and LED
      backlight. The monitor features include:
      • AW3418DW: 86.72 cm (34.14 inch) viewable area (measured
diagonally). Resolution: Up to 3440 x 1440 through DisplayPort and
      HDMI
, with full-screen support or lower resolutions, supporting an
extremely high refresh rate of 100 Hz (120 Hz with overclock).

      • Thanks - looks like it'll work nicely.

    • Bit of a waste if you're not using display port, since you forgo the 120hz, which is partly what makes this monitor so expensive.

      • DP would be for the PC, HDMI for the PS4

        • Ask your wife for DP approval?

    • +2

Its no good for consoles in 1440p, screen does not support 2560 x 1440p unfortunately (i have one, and an xbox).

    • +1

Ministry of finance seldom approves such purchases.

    • might hook up to PS4

It will work … but not well because monitors cannot downscale content meaning the image will be blurry.

Also it will only display 1920x1080.

  • +24

if you use code honey15 it brings it down to $1095.99
    i just purchased one

    • +1

WOOO! I wasn't going to buy but now I will. Good luck my GTX1060!

      • wow what do u play and r u thinking of upgrading soon?

        • Just Fortnite and Apex mainly. I'll need to get a new GPU.

wow that may push me over the line

    • +1

      You absolute legend.

Luckily i refreshed this page and saw your comment. Worked perfectly.!!!

    • Would this get still cashback from shopback 10%?

      • +1

I did it anyway, wouldnt think it would work - but the extra discount is better than the cashback!

    • +1

Fark - this did it. Just don't tell me there's a HONEY20 later

      • Hahhahahhah same man ill neck

    • +1

I had to cancel my order from this morning and re-order! Too big a saving to ignore, thanks!

    • Did any of you guys manage to take a screenshot with honey15? Hoping to make a price protection claim on my credit card. Would appreciate it heaps!

  • I want it but don't need it. Looks awesome as though

  • Sexy

  • Is this the better one out of the 2 Alienware monitor from dell?

  • This vs Acer Predator X34P?

    • Pretty much the same, and X34P can be had for around $1100

      • Just did a quick read on both. I believe the only plus of the Acer over this is a handle they have added to the stand which makes carrying and moving easier.

    • +7

At this price, I'd go for this, as Dell has better service and warranty, as well as quality control. Both are about the same in general.

      • Agreed

      • Confirmed with shopback you can try but it will be denied cashback as it's from another publisher

        • My cashback amount came through at $195 lol

          • +1

            @11112007: The dream

@@gotyourback any chance in hell it will be honoured? :P

        • +2

Maybe, you can still get $2 cashback from ShopBack.

      • Hmm maybe it is just me but i havent had a good experience with Dell customer service previously. May be they have improved now.

      • As someone who has owned both, manufacturer warranty shouldn't even be a concern. The quality control on these panels are absolutely terrible. I'd be more concerned about where you actually get it from. Either get it from a bricks and mortar store, where they'll swap it as soon as you bring it back no questions asked, or take the risks buying it from an online store, where you have to worry whether it'll get damaged on they way there, or whether they won't find anything at all, and the process will take weeks at best. I got so fed up that I took my money and bought a used one for $700, couldn't be happier

  • +10

Ordered, didn't get approval from the wife. God help me.

    • +2

It’s approved by ozbargain!! But we don’t have your back though.

    • +6

"I told you a while ago I was going to order a new monitor and you said go for it, you never listen"

      • Might try this lol

    • divorce and get a wife from the ozbargain community :)

    • If you live in Brissie, I'll buy it from you for the same price….save your hide :)

      • +1

Haha. In Melbourne and she's fine with it

        • +1

          … she says that now.

          "Yeah, you go to sleep…"

  • Can a 1080Ti run 4k gaming on this monitor at full settings?

    • -1

Considering this is not a 4k monitor … I guess the answer is no. But if I flip your question, 1080ti has enough juice to power this badboy on full settings.

    • +1

3440x1440 is about 60% the pixels of a full 4K panel. A 1080Ti will easily run games at max settings on this monitor, though probably not much higher than 60fps on new AAA games.

      • +1

When we say "Max", I agree you wont find any games on the highest quality settings and constant 120FPS. However, because it has G-SYNC, even if your framerate goes between say 80-120FPS, you wont notice any tearing because of the sync technology and you will have a fantastic experience. Its a damn good monitor. As an aside, I do think that it bodes thinking about all the micro-dot, 4k panels that will come out over the next 1-2 years before making this purchase. They might even fix latency and oled. However, if you have PC games you want to play in the current generation then this is one of the best entry points there has even been for a super high end 1440p.

    • definitely, I usually get around 50fps on a 980ti, and a 1080ti would be double that

    • at 120fps? eSports games should be pretty good, but AAA titles will not run at a constant 120fps on max settings. I have this setup

  • So $985.5 with cashback and FRENZY40, HONEY15 coupons?!?!?!?

    • +1

      No cashback

    • Shopback seems to have picked up the transaction for me - 195.36 cashback! If that goes thru, brings this down to $900.63… Crazy!

      • +1

Yes but the cashback will get denied even though it's picked it up (there is a validation period)… I asked shopback and they said the same. I'd snap one up if it would be honored but you guys shouldn't buy based on the additional cashback.

"I can confirm this code would definitely not stack (with cashback) as it belongs to another publisher."

Perhaps official response in this thread would be good

        • Doesn't that mean it'd be better to purchase with just the 'Frenzy40' coupon + Shopback rather than with 'Honey15'?

          • @ShinK0: The HONEY15 offer is too hard to resist, IMO. 😆

          • +2

            @ShinK0: No honey15 still better

            Honey15 15% = $1,289.40 - $1,095.99 = $193.41 saving
            Shopback 10% = $1,172.18 * 0.1 = $117.218 saving

            • @cyrax83: I wonder why Shopback have written $195, that math doesn't add up.

              • @ShinK0: It's picking up RRP for some reason

                ($2,149 - GST)*0.10 = $195.36

            • @cyrax83:

              Shopback 10% = $1,172.18 * 0.1 = $117.218 saving

It can be less than $117, as it's calculated before GST applied.

              • @O O: $1,172.18 is the pre-gst amount

        • What about cashrewards? would they pick it up? they offer 9%

          • @yaa903: I did check FRENZY40 isn't even listed on their website let alone HONEY15 so doubt it.

        • +1

I am guessing this is where honey's code came from https://www.joinhoney.com/shop/dell
They are also a cashback/coupon site, and their cashback rates for dell is from 1-4%

      • Same here

    • How do you apply both FRENZY40 and HONEY15 coupons on the Dell website.

It will only let me add one discount coupon.

      • You are too late. Dell blocked it. Use shopback for 10% cash back

  • +1

Why do I have to see this……

    • Because as a community we like you spending your money wisely :)

  • +1

One super trivial thing from owning one, it's HDMI 1.4 and does not support 2560x1440 (1440p) over HDMI so you can't squeeze the best you can get out of an Xbox One X is 1080p

    • That's annoying

  • Great price

    I paid $1500 about 9 months ago.

    Really like it

  • Awesome purchased 3

    • +1

jesus christ, you gonna be running these in a triple setup

    • +4

Full moon with a side of banana pancakes. I think eww at banana pancakes.

  • Pulled the trigger. Well done to OP and harryoz!

  • so no shopback if you use both codes above?

    • why wouldn't it be?

  • +12

As a tip for everyone who has is thinking of purchasing, from someone who has had to return 3 of these and eventually got so fed up that I had to buy used, here are some things to look out for when you pull it out of the box
    - Overclock it to 120hz and make sure the monitor isn't skipping frames
    - Use dead pixel buddy to check for dead pixels as well as backlight bleeding and IPS glow
    - Put on an all white background to check for uniformity. A common problem is the right 3rd of the panel has a slight yellowish tint

    • The famous dell panel lottery has its origins all the way back to my Dell 2407 WFP

      • It's the same for all high refresh IPS panels

    • Yeh it's making me hesitate, and maybe Dell just want to get rid of these lemons, so dropped the price. And "40%" off is 40% of a price nobody was buying at.

    • +1

My U2713HM was a dud OOTB, but the replacement process was largely painless. They sent a new one, I put the old one in the new box and left it for the courier.
